  • Perfect except the volume.

I love it, I use the app all the time throughout parts of my day. Mostly to sleep or nap though. Sends me straight out and I feel like I sleep deeper. If that’s just in my head, who cares, it works. Just one complaint, and it’s enough that I nearly deleted the app yesterday. The VOLUME FLUCTUATIONS. A lot of the time I wake up and the volume is so low I can’t hear it even though I set it higher. But yesterday, I needed a nap, set it to the power nap function, added a timer, put it on my nightstand. Just as I was drifting off the volume went up to 100% and nearly scared me to death. I clicked it back down to normal, tried to fall asleep and about 2 minute later it turned the volume up all the way. Soothing sound isn’t so soothing when it’s being screamed into your face. Even after pausing it the music came back on. I had to fully quit the app to make it stop. PLEASE fix it or at least have fluctuating volume be an option.

Hi there, thanks a lot for your thorough feedback! We will investigate the cause of this problem right now. Could you clarify, do you listen to Endel wearing Apple Watch when this playback error occurs? Thanks for your help! Have a good week ahead!
  • Very Interesting App

I have to say I really like the app after a few days and will continue through the trial and update this review if needed.

I will not pay $50 a year to use this app and I probably won’t take advantage of the 50% off the first year only to have to pay another $50 again in 12 months. According to the apps page in the store, you can purchase a lifetime subscription. I don’t see that option within the app. I do very little subscriptions and certainly will not for this kind of app at the price point.

Having said all of that, it’s a well developed app and still 5 stars. I just won’t get $50 in value in a subscription.

  • A pleasantly surprised skeptic

At first, I was like...umm..what? The idea didn’t seem that appealing to me. And the music certainly isn’t Beethoven or anything close to a ‘masterpiece’, but what I truly appreciated from this app is how it really does the job. Working a job at home that requires deep focus, while my partner’s work requires him to be on calls all day, is no easy task. Somehow this app really helps me tune out the distractions and get in a nice, relaxed, productive state. Now I’m a believer. Perfect app to get you in a ‘mood.’ I look forward to this app getting more intelligent by the day in getting us to certain states (focus, relaxation, etc) quicker and quicker.

  • Please make AI Lullaby permanent!

I have tried so many ambient sound apps, albums, radio stations, but never found any that have the ethereal and surreal quality I’d been craving. I’m a huge Grimes fan and was interested to see what an ambient collab would be like and I feel like I finally found the ethereal ambient sound! Happily subscribed to the app but disappointed that AI lullaby is only available for a limited time. Please keep it available on the app! I’d buy a lifetime subscription if that were the case.
That aside, this is certainly the most well designed user experience I’ve come across in a meditation/sleep app. The concept of live mixing that matches your heart rate and surroundings? So innovative. I also LOVE the Apple Watch companion mode.

  • So far so good

For me, 7 days was not long enough to be sure about this app. But I’m not disappointed because I suspected this would be the case. So I waited for the 1 yr subscription to start and then canceled it so that I’d have a year to work with it. It takes a while to fully learn how to work this app into your life but I’m getting there. It’s not a magic wand, you have to do your part as well... at least in my case it takes practice and experimentation. For example finding the most effective volume for various soundscapes was a big help for me.

I’m pretty sure I’ll restart the subscription at the end of my year. Just don’t want to forget to stop it just in case.

One recommendation to the development team. The fade in/out in the latest upgrade is good. Fade out should also be added to the timer setting when a sound alarm is not set. This way when you fall asleep the abrupt volume drop doesn’t wake you up.

Hi there, thanks a lot for your thorough feedback! Yes, you're right, how to use Endel in the most effective way is the matter of experiment in a way. But that's just like with everything else in our life. From our side we can assure you, that we will continue to develop and improve Endel, add new features, enhance the operation of existing functions, and expand our ecosystem. Regarding the fade-out, we have fixed this bug, and it should disappear in the next update. Keep informed of all the latest updates on socials and in-app "What's new" section under the 'star' icon. Have a good day!
  • Great sounds, not so great pricing

This app is actually really great, which is why it’s so frustrating that it’s so expensive. For me, the only time I use it is for sleep and when I’m getting ready, so I can’t justify spending the money either each month or for the lifetime unfortunately. Such a bummer because I would otherwise highly recommend this app, I’ve honestly slept through the night sooo much better since I’ve been using this app the past 4 nights. And there’s something about the Focus sounds that help keep me from getting distracted while getting ready for work. I will be sad to see it go! If the cost doesn’t make you flinch, then definitely get this app, you won’t regret it!

  • Anxious Musician Finds Relief!

With everything going on in the world today, I’m too distracted to listen to podcasts and have always been unable to focus if music is on because I’m too enraptured in the music composition itself. Needless to say, I certainly can’t tune into the news and television just sounds like junk.

Endel is a Godsend. The sounds and rhythms chosen for each mood state are impeccable. They genuinely give whatever state of mind I’m trying to achieve an instant boost.

I’m confident that the Endel team must be using science and algorithms to understand how to give the brain exactly what you’re looking for. This is one of those applications that makes you realize you’re living in an incredibly innovative world - take advantage of it!

  • Dishonest

The sounds are NOT personalized. I would rate 5 if it didn’t falsely advertise. The sounds are really nice, soothing, and I think they might work. But they are not customizable or personalized. There are four, period. When you first sign on, the first screen gives you the illusion of personalization with some tags you can choose for what you’re doing, but there is no way to bring it back up and edit the tags. Other people Im the room chose the opposite settings and we all have the same four sounds, and no one can go back to the screen we saw when it first opened.

I also noticed someone else call3d this out and was given a longwinded answer that doesn’t address the lie and distracts from feedback, misleading the reader to think the review is referring to something else. Just sell it for what it is. It is four lovely sounds, with a gorgeous interface. 5 stars. But if you’re selling me personalized sounds that is just a gross lie. And if I’m wrong, there’s something very wrong with the app. Your promise is not accessible, and the first screen seems to be just for show. You know, a mock-up.

Hi there, thanks for your feedback! At the moment, we are testing this feature, context tags, and so far, it's available only to new users, and only at the beginning of using the application. You can read about it in our in-app section "What's New"under the 'star'icon. Based on the results of this testing, we plan to launch these tags in a month for all users. Regarding the personalisation, Endel uses the following data from your phone once you allowed it to: timezone, weather, motion, and heart rate (if you have a smartwatch). This you can always change in your phone's General Settings. Then the app personalizes the sound accordingly — the main idea is to harmonize your mind and body's current states with the natural circadian rhythm. Since the operating principle of our application is based on proven scientific theories, the diversity of the soundscapes is not always noticeable. It should also be noted that Endel is still not music, and the application is not designed for conscious listening. Endel sound should not be remarkable to achieve the desired effect of the private acoustic environment. The first and best way to understand whether a personalized sound is or not is if it works for you. We are sorry that you expected something else from our application. Still, if you are interested in the aspects of sound that affects a person’s well-being, more information about this, and how our app works, you can always find on endel.io. Have a good day!
  • Cool idea... doesn’t deliver

On paper this app is a rapturously good idea I was ready to pay for. After my week trial I was still intrigued so I paid for an additional month.

This doesn’t feel like a curated experience worthy of a subscription, it feels like a 4 song album. Beyond that, the insights are utterly meaningless and provide no additional value to my experience.

I’ll definitely be looking for a place to download these four tracks so I can put them on repeat myself, but to charge a subscription promising a curated personal service for this just seems... misleading. I wanted to love this app, maybe I’ll check back in a year or two :/

  • Eerie Vibes

I am using an Apple Watch and have health data stored to the extent that I believe there should be an adequately suited soundscape right away. I need to sleep and I saw this ad and thought it would help. However the music made me feel more awake and has eerie vibes. The way the sound waves are visualized when I press the screen in sleep mode seems too active for the sleeping state and the sound produced does not feel intuitive but more randomly generated. Like I could not play the screen like a hand pan if I wanted to, the notes would just change and I’d be lost. Read some other reviews. Honestly feels like a soundscape to me but I’m just playing devils advocate and a healthy skeptic. Trying something different now, thank you for the opportunity but I felt mislead and shall take my journey for sleep elsewhere. Maybe pull a safe last resort which I do not want to have to do... to help me fall asleep 😴 Best of luck, you seem like a cool, genuine dude. ✌️
