iPad app UI just keeps getting worse

I’m fast becoming convinced that Square Space is intentionally making their iPad UI (in the both the app and a browser) almost impossible to use as a way to force you to a desktop machine. Every update seems to add a new fancy feature that simply doesn’t work very well, or at all. They also seem to neglect the fact that anyone who uses a keyboard stand is probably in Landscape mode, which is the worst of their UI experiences. I often have to take the ipad off the stand and use it in portrait to be able to do something, but then im unable to use the keyboard stand, so it’s just annoying. Square Space: If you are reading this, please make your developers use your own app in Landscape mode so they can see just how bad the experience is. Then fix it. Thank you!

Poor app; poor support

I'm writing here since I received a tickler to update my review. As I said before, this version of the Squarespace app does not seem to work at all well, allowing me to to even simple things on my blog. The older version worked fine. So disappointing! Of course, Squarespace responds that I need to contact customer support, which I did. They ignored my specific questions (apparently not even reading them), and instead sent me links to tutorials that I had already watched several times and found to be useless in addressing my problems. When I wrote back to customer support that these tutorials did not cover my questions, I was told that they would refer me to someone who could help and that it may be a few days before they would get back to me. It has now been weeks and I have heard nothing. It looks like Squarespace is resting on their past reputation.

Has potential but in need of an update

Blocks can’t be moved on pages. They’re stuck at the bottom or top of the section/page because the editor app doesn’t seem to recognize the existing blocks if you try to move the one you’re adding. There are also entire pages that can’t be edited. You select a section, hit the Edit button and the section remains greyed out and uneditable.

It’s a useful app, very user friendly, makes editing my website an ease, when I can actually edit it. There’s a lot of potential but having to use the app, Safari on mobile and my laptop to make complete edits to my website is the opposite of accessible.

Good but Needs more options

I enjoy all of the website builder and editing options but when it comes to scheduling appointments and processing payments, I wish there were advanced settings to connect to a card reader. It does allow connecting to a square account but it would simplify things if it could connect directly to a Bluetooth credit card reader or phone jack swipe for each appointment check out. Even if squarespace had their own card reader options instead of manually entering card numbers, that would be even better.

Infuriating app

While I can edit listings online, selling in person is impossible right now. It's asking to turn on microphone access, but that isn't an option in settings. Now I have to go back to this app and remove inventory, since square and Squarespace aren't linking. Which is infuriating to keep track of when it's busy. As Squarespace grows I find the app, site and customer service gets worse, yet I'm paying more than ever.

Edit: I contacted customer service on Sunday and received a message with steps on how to sell online, which I have already done successfully in the past, these steps did not resolve my issue. Two days later (while I'm not set up at a trunk show) I receive a message stating to delete and reload the app. While this worked, my initial review stays the same. Customer service two days later (while saying they are available 24/7) with an excuse of being too busy, did not resolve my issue in a timely manner. Squarespace seems to have too many issues to promptly offer help. Help we pay for.

Buggy, editing non-functional

Cannot edit a webpage with this app. The best I can do is add a page. I can add a block, sometimes it even lets me pick which one, but it doesn’t even show up until I exit editing and it reloads the page. When I go back in to edit the page there is nothing I can do except add another block. There are buttons that make it appear as though I can edit the block, but they don’t do anything. When I tap a photo it gives me a menu but tapping the options don’t do anything. The only editing button that works is the one that deletes the block. I updated my king maybe that was the problem, but it changed nothing. This app does not work.

Why is it so difficult on an iPad

I’ve used in the passed on a computer but I don’t currently have access so I wanted to use my iPad. So difficult. It won’t let me edit the words with any ease or allow me to select how to enter basic information I’ve reached out for help as I use square for so much and I’m not able to combine them at all
Square has appointments and scheduling and they won’t talk to each other appointments has a better app and interface for me but looks awful for customers while scheduling looks great I struggle to make it work.

App is SUPER glitchy.

You would think that an app for websites would be up to par, but its really not. Every single time i try to create my website and edit it something glitches out and either the app crashes and closes or i cant change the font because all the options have changed to one particular font and wont change back. No matter how many times to close the app the fonts wont change back and now 3 of the options for fonts are the same one. Super glitchy and extremely irritating to work with. Please fix it.

Some issues

I understand what a feat it actually is, to create an app for editing websites. The fact that they have done this is actually incredible and would have been unimaginable 10 years ago.
However, there are some massive nuances in this editing process which deems this app only really useful for checking analytics and making minor adjustments such as correcting any typos or adding text. This app, in its current state is definitely not suitable for making major changes to your website. Save that for the computer.

One thing Big issue I’d like to add here in case squarespace is actually reading this, is almost every time I attempt to view the desktop layout while editing in this app, it basically just becomes frozen and the app needs to be closed.

Can’t change templates after you choose

UPDATE: “All sites on Squarespace version 7.1 have the same capabilities and style options” should make it easier to switch layouts, not impossible. All versions of Squarespace up until this point allowed it as do competitors. I’ve already been refunded and won’t return to Squarespace until this feature is restored.

So, you choose a website template, start building, add some pages, change this, change that, switch a font, move this, resize that…then realize you’re horrible at website design lol (duh that’s why these type builders exist!). No worries, let’s scratch this one, choose a new template and start over. But you can’t. SS wants you to change each part manually. You can’t switch templates. You used to with every version of SS up until now (and with every other website builder from competitors), but now you can’t. I wish they’d add this feature back, then I’d come back:)
