  • Don’t use in the USA

    It’s good for EU, but in the States very poor service. Also many apps don’t work. I can’t use Safari or Uber.

  • E-Sim did not work. Use any other app

    E-sim did not work at all. I used it once in the UK and it was mediocre at best.

    Tried using it again in the US and the sim literally did not function. I reached out to the company explaining this and they sent an auto-response explaining how to turn the e-sim on. Even though I explained, in detail, the issue I was having and my previous experience. I also had no data because their sim was broken, so I could only see their response in the rare chance I had wifi. And they did not resolve it.

    Use any of the myriad other e-sim apps if you would like a reliable network.

  • Very disappointed. No service most of our trip.

    We were driving through Idaho and others in our group had service many times when we didn’t. Total waste of money. Had to turn on my home provider which worked fine. Can’t even contact support.

  • Excellent in some countries

    I previously used Ubigi in Europe, Taiwan and Japan and it was great, full bars and mostly 5G service. I’ve had lots of issues in Vietnam however, and service has been spotty. Customer service wasn’t really helpful, which was a bit frustrating, however they refunded the remaining data allowance.

  • Good in Japan, Avoid Elsewhere

    I’ve used Ubigi in Japan, Taipei, and London. In Japan this worked excellently and was well worth the money. In Taipei, service was reliable, but the speed was slightly slower than that of sims you can buy at the airport - I would say go for it if it’s convenient there.

    For the UK though - avoid. It was terrible coverage and speeds on my most recent trip. T-mobile’s free international 2G had better coverage, which is saying something.

    Very hit or miss.

  • Reliable and Consistent: My Experience with the Ubigi App in Japan

    From my experience using Ubigi in Japan, traveling from Osaka to Hokkaido, I never had any issues. You’ll get 4G, LTE, and 5G, depending on the area, but it’s consistently reliable for using maps and seeking information. I had experience with another app that people recommended and regretted it so badly.

    For now, I can only recommend Ubigi for Japan, as it’s the only country I’ve used it in so far.

    I love it and will keep using it and hopefully when I visit other countries, I will have the same experience!

  • Worked and then it didn’t.

    Worked great in Japan but I can’t get it to work in UK. I had a 4 week trip to Japan in October 2023 and the eSIM data worked great! No problems. I tried to buy another plan for a 2 week trip to the UK that I’m currently on and have spent many hours troubleshooting and have not succeeded in getting it to work. I’m using the same phone. It’s frustrating. Relying on a friend and WiFi until I part ways from my friend for the last part of my trip.

  • Great customer service

    It isn’t completely intuitive but it does have alot of pictures to help you install, however the pics weren’t the exact same as how mine looked and as I was in a rush a few mistakes were made.
    The customer service however was quick and fixed exactly what I needed.
    First I put the wrong email in and they sent me a new QR within a few hours. My emails are a bit messed up so I didn’t see this and bought another and when I asked for a refund on one they refunded me. Really easy and super low stress.

  • Works great in Japan!

    Visited mainland and Okinawa, Japan!
    Service was consistent in town but spotty in rural areas. (As I expected)
    But I still give it 4 stars for the price. I was thankful to have internet access. Wish it would give cell coverage too so I could make calls! (Hopefully a future update/service)
    Would recommend for Japan travel. (Just make sure your SIM is unlocked on your phone so you can use it! (Usually means your phone has to be paid off and unlocked).
