Doesn’t give you the option to edit trips as it says
This app is full of bugs. It doesn’t allow you to edit trips to say you weren’t driving, doesn’t allow for hands free controls on your phone, and rates you for things you have no control over (what time you have to be at work).MorgieJane
Not accurate
It tracks everyone, no matter who’s driving. So if my 3 drivers are in an Uber or a friends car, it tracks that driver and records it for all 3 of us. Despite the fact that we’re not driving. Zero accuracy.vxndjrjjd
This app is simply annoying
I keep getting gigged for not driving smoothly and for speeding, I have been watching my speedometer like a hawk, and I do not speed. Driving smoothly in city traffic is virtually impossible. I slow down way in advance of a red light, as I have done throughout my 66 years of driving (never had an accident), and yet this app finds fault with it. I am really fed up!Show lessBarb Hastings
Work schedules
This is a good app, however I get marked down for driving at certain times of the day, which I can’t control. My job dictates what my hours are and I’m not going to stay at work until the busy traffic times end. I also live in a very small town and there isn’t much traffic, yet I get dinged for driving in busy traffic times. It would be nice if it took into account work schedules and area we live in.Show lessmel28+3

Just downloaded this for my car insurance. Already not impressed. The overall average score they give for each trip is not the true average, it’s always lower. My score goes down for driving during peak hours, as if I control the fact that my job is 8-5 so I have to drive during peak hours. Even going the speed limit the whole time my speed score is low. It’s not safe to drive below the speed limit either. Phone calls are answered completely hands free through Bluetooth but that doesn’t matter to the app. The app could use a lot of work.Show lessBee_A
Affect Rate will delete
This app when/if ever starts to affect my insurance rate I will delete as scoring is so messed up and inconsistent.. I used only a few days and score somehow in the 70s (red or yellow) yet never hard breaks, never speeding, etc.
Today I went to AuoZone not even a mile away. Didn’t break hard, because of lights never even got up to the speed limit, so obviously never was I speeding, yet I got a red score of 52. This app is a joke..Show lessThe Family 2009
Terrible accuracy - might lower your insurance rate but not your blood pressure.
This app is atrociously inaccurate. I’ve repeatedly gotten “phone habit” scores in the 60s. I don’t take my phone out of my pocket. I close every app I have open before driving. I’ve turned off location services for every app in my phone but this one.
I DO NOT use my phone when I drive. Or when I bike - most of my commuting is on bike and I can’t set the app to auto default to cycling. So occasionally I don’t get to switch the mode of transportation in time. Still gives me terrible “phone habit” scores.
I PHYSICALLY CANNOT USE MY PHONE LESS.
Because I don’t use it. I’ve never used my phone while driving. The amount of trouble I’ve gone to to try and get it accurate is terrible. I have turned off locations services for EVERY app in my phone except for SMARTtrek and “find my iPhone”.
I can’t imagine one could ever use turn by turn navigation while driving with this app if I can’t even get the thing to function in my pocket with ever single app/service turned off.
There are plenty of other problems with the app, but it’s not worth my trouble spending any more time letting this thing bother me. I get scores in the upper 90s for all other categories. I could put a ceramic mug full of coffee on my dash and drive around without spilling it…that’s how slow and careful and I am…and some arbitrary phone score is ruining me. We are sorry that you are having difficulties. If your phone is in your pocket while cycling, this can be affecting your phone score. Try placing it in a backpack. Generally, we recommend placing the phone in a stationary holder on the dashboard while driving. If you are not driving for a period of time, you can also pause the app in the more menu.Smartrek
Doesnt do well on short trips.. fails to record the first 1 - 1 1/2 miles from the start and also just plain randomly doesnt record some trips under 5 miles. Complained about app’s performance and was given suggestions ( remove & restore app, ensure ifone was up to date ), but made no diff. Would not recommend this app.Show lesssmartrekuser

I don’t like this app 😜 It doesn’t take into account your car and the tricky acceleration. I can drive my husband’s truck and get great scores but when I drive our car my score goes down. Also I should get 100% on my phone use because I don’t use it while driving but because I get a text (which I don’t answer) I get dinged even though customer service admits that they can’t tell if I did or didn’t I get dinged as if I did - totally unfair 😳Show lessSend a teview
Completely random made up scores.
this app throws out random scores so much it’s absolutely ridiculous. On a recent trip of 36 miles I got a 9 on smooth driving and 100 on phone use, trip duration and time of day. Yet I have driven at this time of day many times and have never scored 100 on time of day. On a trip duration of 36 miles I never get a score of 100, in fact I can drive maybe less then 2 miles and get a 99. Now onto the phone score I can have my phone in my pocket on a 2 mile drive and get a score in the low 90s yet put my phone up on my dashboard on a 36 mile drive that is apperently not smooth and get a score of 100 on the phone use. Makes absolutely zero sense. About ready to drop this app just on principle alone.

Typically, a single event, score, or trip may not have a significant impact on the overall score. We hope that you continue to use SMARTtrek.
