  • Don't Send In The Clowns

It works just fine, these clowns just don't know how to drive like a cool breeze. Put on your cruise control and let the jokers pass you by. You'll survive the bruise to your ego.
  • Not Very Accurate

First off, I completely understand that having an app monitor your driving skills is destined to have flaws. However, I do believe there are things that can certainly be improved on this app. My biggest headache is the 24-hour window to update your transportation status. After the window closes, if you haven’t updated your status, it automatically assumes you were driving. I wish this window could extend to 72-hours if not more. It’s frustrating to see the driving score significantly change due to a Lyft ride that happened 25-26 hours prior. It’s definitely a flaw that should be more forgiving. I’d love to see improvements to the scoring system: I get marked for having my phone in the backseat locked, traffic keeps the score low because of braking, etc. hopefully we see changes soon.

Hello Anne, thank you so much for taking the time to provide your feedback. If you happen to have a trip that has marked you as driving after 24 hours you are encouraged to call or email our support team to have that trip modified. We definitely do not want to see your score negatively impacted when you are not the driver. Our customer service contact information is aaahelp@smarttrek.com or 800-814-4684.
  • I’m usually the passenger

I rarely drive, but I’m supposed to use this app. Every time I’m in a car I need to open the app hit that I am not driving or they dock me for phone use even if I do t use the phone and am not even driving. This thing is a joke.
  • Unsure of App… 😬

Day 1 (2 hours in) and it’s telling me my trip recording was paused because of my low battery. Well I haven’t driven anywhere so there hasn’t been a trip to record in the first place 🙄 I’ll try to update after driving a few times. The past reviews have my hopes up, but trying it for lower insurance rates….

  • Lies

If you are a defensive driver this app rates you bad. Does not take into consideration construction zones, grandchildren watching movies or playing games on your phone while driving. The fact that it’s a phone and not connected to your ECM it’s never correct. Garbage this app is garbage and your insurance company uses it to adjust your rates. Think I’ll be looking for a new insurance company very soon

  • I’m not a fan

The scoring system is completely bogus and designed to score you low even when you are doing everything right. It’s not for anyone who is a 2nd or 3rd shift worker because it scores you low automatically just because of the time you’re traveling. I’m canceling out ASAP
  • Awful app

I am not a fan. I don’t see why, if I don’t touch my phone for an entire drive, I don’t get a perfect score. In addition, I get dinged for my lack of smooth driving on every drive, even if it’s completely on the highway. If I have to drive at a certain time of day because I HAVE to be somewhere I get a a lowered score. This app does not reflect true driving habits end frankly I’m sure there’s a better one out there.

  • Crap app for driving evaluations

I had my phone in my coat pocket on my first two trips. Never looked at it or touched it. My phone use was rated 95 on the trip out and 94 on the trip back. No radio on. What would the score be if I took it out of my coat?

I got a 65 for not driving smoothly. It’s the end of February a and our roads are full of potholes. You either swerve to avoid the potholes or potentially risk blowing a tire. Other than that, my driving was smooth.

I’ve driven for 45 years with no accidents and one speeding ticket. This is a useless app for evaluating your driving. This app seems to be primarily a tracking app so they can sell marketing info on my habits. Read the Terms & Policy. The app must be allowed to track you 100% of the time. It tracks you walking, jogging, bike riding, etc. They are free to provide your info to police, governmental authorities, marketing companies, etc. It knows what store you stop at, whether you go to church, whether you jog, bike ride, hit the gym, ect.

    Big brother is here.

Hello, we are sorry to hear that you have not had a great experience with the app. You are definitely correct that the app needs to track your location 100% of the time. This is due to the need to determine how you are driving. Rest assured, we do not sell anyone's data to 3rd party marketing companies.
  • Never again 👎👎

This app is terrible. It measures driving habits that you don’t have control over. The time of day you drive to work. Why is that a measurement of how you drive, you have to drive to work. I can’t talk on the phone through the car phone connection with out killing the score. I am not talking about texting, just answering the hands free phone. Super annoying, you have to open the app every trip and confirm you were driving. It wasn’t worth the 10% discount👎👎

  • A great app to cure low blood pressure

I have over 70 trips recorded to date (and multiple others that the app somehow failed to record) and can tell you that it is a very poor judge of actual driving skill and conditions!
Normally I’m not the best driver but since downloading this app, I’ve been driving as slow as a 75 year old grandma on Prozac and as carefully as an OCD mechanical engineer and keep getting dinged for “smooth driving” issues. My phone never leaves my pocket and I can’t get higher than a 95 out of 100 score and get dinged for time of day driving seemingly at any time of the day I drive.
My wife wants to divorce me because of the amount of time and energy wasted in trying to get a great score and then complaining bitterly when I drive flawlessly only to receive a mediocre grade!
Could go on and on about the inconsistencies with this app, but I like being married and having low blood pressure.

This app is the WORST! So inaccurate it’s pathetic. Drive the exact same way on two trips and you get a difference of twenty plus points. I’d give it zero stars if I could!

Hello and thank you for providing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you've had a poor experience with the app. The scoring calculates a variety of risk factors, including Speed, Time and Day, Smooth Driving (Sudden Acceleration and Harsh Braking), Phone Habits, and Trip Duration. Also, a score of 95 is an excellent score. Keeping your overall score green will help you get a discount. Also, your discount will be applied as long as you are a CSAA Auto Policy holder.
