Defender 4K not ready for prime time yet - MAC / IOS

Application is not really very user friendly for MAC/IOS systems. Everything seems to be more geared towards PC hardware. Contacting User Support is punshing as it takes extended periods to receive an answer. English is not their primary language therefore not easy to discuss /acquire answer / solutions. Wish I had known lack of MAC/IOS application before purchasing. Additionally, during the latest software update the harddrive locked up and required that I mail it back for replacement..expensive and time consuming.

Was OK app until last update

Original app was okay and simple, probably 4 star, however after the recent update the app constantly crashes and they took away some of the best features. You use to be able to scroll trough your cameras and when you got to the last one it would scroll to the first camera (continuous scroll), now when you get to the last camera it stops and you have to scroll backwards to the beginning. Also the app use to save your camera sequence once you moved them on your favorite screen, now it defaults to whatever every time you close and reopen the app.

Your latest update has made the app frustrating!

Please go back to the way it was! The functions are dismal and not user friendly. Don’t appreciate force unwelcome popups

Bad update

It’s usually perfect but with the latest update I can no longer live view because the cameras won’t load up. I can still playback footage fine but the live view got messed up with the latest update

Cant use!!!

All of a sudden the app will no longer connect to my cameras. I have been working with it for weeks and still can’t fix it. Such a waste now but the cameras are up and you cant get a live person to help you.

The cameras are good but not sharp at a distance across the street or at night in the street when a car drives by. I’m in a community so they are not going fast . Daytime, can’t make out drivers faces. At night, grainy and there is a drop off with IR lighting at the end of the driveway. Thinking about another IR light. My driveway is not long. At dusk cars driving by blur more. Also, I blocked out tree movement and/ or their shadows but it still triggers the camera for motion. And house across the street has a motion light at the corner of the house that goes on and off all night, this too triggers my camera and that’s blocked out too. Any solutions for these issues? Overall I’m pretty happy with the system.

** Thanks for the response although technically it doesn’t help. “Blocking out” trees and other natural movement doesn’t seem to work. The camera is still triggered for movement. At dusk problems shouldn’t happen if fps was higher. It seems that this is too slow. The cars aren’t going fast either.
It would be good if Defender offered an IR light that can be placed further away to supplement the one ion the camera. I am trying to find a solar powered IR light that can fix the drop off problem. Thanks.

Hello Moon, Thank you for your review. Depending on the speed and angle of the camera, seeing a face of a driver in a passing vehicle would be difficult. We would recommend more ambient lighting near the end of the drive way to assist the cameras in being able to see further at night. Thank you for choosing Defender to protect what matters most. Nice when it works.

Keep getting a message that memory is full and live has been paused. Yet I still see the live feed. The app should not be using any memory unless I’m saving a video or picture. Got worse after last update.

Hi Gibbs2352tjd! Thank you for your honest review. The DVR has a feature that it will automatically record over the oldest footage to ensure that recordings do not stop. This error may relate to the phone memory and please check the device information. Also please force close all apps running in the background. Slow

The camera App is getting slow, the app was running very smote before and now it takes forever to load all cameras and if you watching playback good luck it will hardly work. Hope they come up with an upgrade for this app and make it smooth is before..Thanks!!!

From great to terrible

This system started out really well, and now it’s not working anymore and you cannot get customer support to help you with the issues! I have reached out numerous times and they reply back with the issue must be resolved so we’re close out the ticket! No, it’s not resolved and I’m not happy about the horrible lack of customer service they have! We can’t purchase this system from the same place as before, but they are willing to allow us to return them and refund the full cost! I’m going with a different brand that has customer service that actually helps their customers out with their issues!
