Great but one suggestion
The only suggestion I would give, and it is a big one for me as it would determine if I actually subscribe or not, is about work hours. It would be better to include work hours so the suggestions about bed time and relax window are more accurate. As an example, my bed time is determined to be 1am by the app. Unfortunately, I work until 2am and by the time I hit the bed, I’m past my window. The wind down window is around midnight, which is still in the “middle” of my shift and I cannot get any downtime. It does sync with my body clock, so it is accurate, but unfortunately I have to push past this everyday so those windows are not relevant to me. So if there was a way to include those sleep calculations around a shift work, and have an updated estimate of bedtime and wind down window and wake up time, it would be 5 stars for me. Granted, it might not be the direction you want the app to go. But just putting it out there :) Thanks for a great app!

ADHD game changer
I have recommended RISE to many of my friends and now have 5 of them using the app and loving it! It would be great if there was a referral scheme that offered a discount to current users upon their next renewal. I would also add a new toggle/add on for medication reminders and water reminders if I could. It would be great to set a water drinking goal on the app too as it helps with your sleep if you drink enough water. Brilliant app!

Battery drain and complexity ruined it
But after using it for a few days, it just got more and more complicated. Basic usability issues like not being able to cancel or go back, and menu after menu, option after option, takes something that should be a delight and makes it something only a scientist can understand.
But the real killer was battery drain. The app is using somewhere between 22-25% of my battery a day in background activity - phone went dead this evening when it usually lasts until well after bedtime. Raised a support request but got no reply.
A shame. Promising idea backed by science - but usability and app quality issues are real disappointments.

Outstanding educational experience, but alarm clock and sleep tracking are unreliable
Each ‘tool’ in the app that you can switch on has its purpose clearly explained, and is backed up by (referenced) scientific evidence.
The only downside of the app is that the alarm and sleep tracking features aren’t reliable. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning the app has closed during the night (perhaps it’s crashed or been shutdown because other apps processing notifications needed more memory?). When it has survived the night, the app usually hasn’t correctly detected the times during the night when I got up or was lying awake.
Part of the reliability problem is surely that Apple doesn’t provide the proper OS facilities that alarm and sleep-tracking apps need, but other competing apps do a significantly better job of working around Apple’s limitations in this area.
Despite that, I would still thoroughly recommend Rise for anyone who wants to understand their sleep better and learn techniques for sleeping better. I’m personally thinking about still using the app, but switching to using the Apple Watch sleep tracking functionality and syncing that data to Rise.
Response from developer
Regarding the challenges with Apple's OS limitations, we are actively exploring ways to optimize our app within these constraints to provide a seamless experience for our users. We're also considering integrating with Apple Watch sleep tracking functionality to offer more reliable data synchronization. Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we're glad to hear that despite the reliability issues, you still find value in RISE for understanding and improving your sleep habits. We're committed to delivering a top-notch experience, and we hope to earn your continued trust and support as we strive to make Rise even better. If you have any further feedback or suggestions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

best app I’ve ever had
The sleep debt feature was really useful and made me more aware of how much extra sleep I needed. It’s helped me become more focused and get more out of my day.
The gentle wake up alarm had me feeling more awake during the day and stopped me wanting to press snooze. It also has some really great audio tracks to help you settle at night.
The only thing I’d like to see is a student discount or monthly payment options. Its worth the money but I can’t afford another 12 months at the moment.
