Great but one suggestion

App is great and works well connected to Apple Health/Garmin Connect. Syncs instantly and insights are good - what I feel dip-wise is mirrored by the app in time as well as productivity times.
The only suggestion I would give, and it is a big one for me as it would determine if I actually subscribe or not, is about work hours. It would be better to include work hours so the suggestions about bed time and relax window are more accurate. As an example, my bed time is determined to be 1am by the app. Unfortunately, I work until 2am and by the time I hit the bed, I’m past my window. The wind down window is around midnight, which is still in the “middle” of my shift and I cannot get any downtime. It does sync with my body clock, so it is accurate, but unfortunately I have to push past this everyday so those windows are not relevant to me. So if there was a way to include those sleep calculations around a shift work, and have an updated estimate of bedtime and wind down window and wake up time, it would be 5 stars for me. Granted, it might not be the direction you want the app to go. But just putting it out there :) Thanks for a great app!

Trying to delete it but keeps sending me in circles

I just want to delete it. But it asks for feedback before I can delete the app, and then when you give feedback it takes you to a window with a discount to stay and there isn’t anywhere to decline and carry on deleting. Frustrating af

Nice idea but glitchy and sleep data seems inaccurate

The app looks good and has a lot of options but fundamentally I would not recommend it as it can glitch and be difficult to work out what is going on with it. The sleep data that it records / uses seems to be far from correct, so this fundamentally impacts its ability to achieve its goals of helping you to become a morning person by recording sleep debt and helping you adjust your sleep schedule. Also, for even just the alarm to work, the app must be on in the background.

Very dumb

I really wanted to give this a good review but here’s what happened. I opened the app for the first time, paid the two dollars so I could try it for a month and everything seemed okay. Then I go to open the app again the next day and I can’t even get into the app because it’s telling me I have to pay. I already paid for a month and now it’s telling me I have to pay again. The only choices were a free trial that would automatically charge me 50 dollars after a week or eight dollars for one month. Even though I already paid for a month. I wasn’t going to pay again. Being so highly reviewed I had the impression that this app would be more legitimate instead of having pay walls every time I open the app. What a disappointment.

ADHD game changer

I have been using rise for 1 year and have just renewed my subscription. Although I feel the app is on the pricey side it has been really useful in helping me navigate my recent ADHD diagnosis. The app lets me know how much energy I have, when I will have my highest and lowest energy points in the day so I can plan my day better and by tracking my sleep deficit it allows me to plan and catch up on those missing hours of sleep on my days off. I use RISE alongside another app called Sleepcycle and highly recommend they are used together. RISE can integrate the data from Sleepcycle into its app which is great!

I have recommended RISE to many of my friends and now have 5 of them using the app and loving it! It would be great if there was a referral scheme that offered a discount to current users upon their next renewal. I would also add a new toggle/add on for medication reminders and water reminders if I could. It would be great to set a water drinking goal on the app too as it helps with your sleep if you drink enough water. Brilliant app!

Battery drain and complexity ruined it

Good idea and backed by science, I initially found this very useful.

But after using it for a few days, it just got more and more complicated. Basic usability issues like not being able to cancel or go back, and menu after menu, option after option, takes something that should be a delight and makes it something only a scientist can understand.

But the real killer was battery drain. The app is using somewhere between 22-25% of my battery a day in background activity - phone went dead this evening when it usually lasts until well after bedtime. Raised a support request but got no reply.

A shame. Promising idea backed by science - but usability and app quality issues are real disappointments.

Outstanding educational experience, but alarm clock and sleep tracking are unreliable

Rise’s first-run onboarding process is exceptionally well done, and will almost certainly teach you something useful about sleep that you didn’t know.

Each ‘tool’ in the app that you can switch on has its purpose clearly explained, and is backed up by (referenced) scientific evidence.

The only downside of the app is that the alarm and sleep tracking features aren’t reliable. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning the app has closed during the night (perhaps it’s crashed or been shutdown because other apps processing notifications needed more memory?). When it has survived the night, the app usually hasn’t correctly detected the times during the night when I got up or was lying awake.

Part of the reliability problem is surely that Apple doesn’t provide the proper OS facilities that alarm and sleep-tracking apps need, but other competing apps do a significantly better job of working around Apple’s limitations in this area.

Despite that, I would still thoroughly recommend Rise for anyone who wants to understand their sleep better and learn techniques for sleeping better. I’m personally thinking about still using the app, but switching to using the Apple Watch sleep tracking functionality and syncing that data to Rise.

Regarding the challenges with Apple's OS limitations, we are actively exploring ways to optimize our app within these constraints to provide a seamless experience for our users. No option except to pay (honest review)

I saw this app and decided that as a teen who has to wake up at 6am for school every morning, that this could help me out to you know, wake up on time. I did the beginning part and all that and then it asked me to do a free 2 week trial and of course I knew that it would do that, like most apps do. The payment after the trial is what I had a problem with. The yearly payment is so expensive like $70 a year and as someone who can’t pay without getting my parents permission, I can’t use the app at all. On top of that, as I was writing this review after submitting another one before deleting, it told me that they believe money should not be the primary reason not to use rise. There’s no cancel button on the free trial screen so if you don’t pay you can’t even USE the app like at all. So how is that supporting the fact that money shouldn’t be the primary reason hm? I suggest maybe instead of pushing for people to pay/do a free trial, just a few things could be unlocked but a majority of the options you’d have to pay for. That would make this app a total game changer for the people who can’t afford this or are not allowed to waste money something so expensive each year when the money could go towards other things that are necessities. Thank you for taking the time to read this and have a great day/night!

best app I’ve ever had

I had rise for the past 12 months on a trial and it’s been the most useful tool in getting my sleep on track.
The sleep debt feature was really useful and made me more aware of how much extra sleep I needed. It’s helped me become more focused and get more out of my day.
The gentle wake up alarm had me feeling more awake during the day and stopped me wanting to press snooze. It also has some really great audio tracks to help you settle at night.

The only thing I’d like to see is a student discount or monthly payment options. Its worth the money but I can’t afford another 12 months at the moment.
