It’s been a while since I’ve had to use a laundromat and was surprised the cost had gone up from when I remembered. I didn’t have enough cash on hand to get tokens but luckily they were set up for Dexter laundry. I was relieved that I could easily set it up and pay using Apple Pay. Unfortunately after working for one machine, cost to wash $6.75 and they charged Apple Pay $20- it sent error messages to me for all other machines. Couldn’t use it again to pay for wash or dry. I’m hoping I only get charged the $6.75 and they kick the rest back. Not worth it, save your change or get the tokens.

  • Dexter Automated Laundry Service

They got me. Right at this moment, I’m in the parking lot of an automated coin laundry called Super Suds in Woodhaven, MI. I’ve been here before, but THIS time, I ran out of coins. So I say to myself “Why not try their ‘DexterPay’ service app?”. Here’s what happened. 2 quarters left and my clothes needed drying, so instead of using real paper dollars in the coin changer, I downloaded their app, set-up an account and proceeded to fund the dryer I had my clothes in. I had a small load, so I only needed maybe, 30 mins drying time. The dryer offers a 7mins./quarter rate. I was actually charged $5.00 total on my Apple Pay account. What the heck is that about? I still don’t know. I’ll wait to see when I’m done, if the “system” kicks back the overcharge. But as it stands, I won’t use their app again, and maybe their laundry again either .....

P.S. Update. So they did kick-back the overage. Well, there you go. If you don’t mind waiting 3 days ......

  • Worked 4 me

Tried DexterPay 4 the very first time couple of nights ago in Longview Tx @ EZ Wash on 80, I had no problem whatsoever. It even allows me to choose prewash extended wash or extended rinse if I want. It also sent me notifications to my phone of wen to add bleach and wen cycle is complete. I was very impressed. I waited a couple days to post this just in case it took some weird amount out of my checking account but nope. And at first I was a little afraid it was going to charge me for each load separately since u can only do 1 load at a time but nope....just 1 fee of $18. I will definitely be using it again!

  • What happened?

I have successfully used this app several times. Today, however, was a total nightmare. Put my clothes in the washer...started programming it to wash using the app. All I received was endless error messages. I checked with bank ...yup, I had money and no, no transactions had been declined I tried again..even signing in on their wireless network. Nope...style unable to complete the transaction. Now there were quite a few people in the laundromat-they weren’t having problems - just me. Checked my phone - everything was good. Checked the HELP section....not helpful. No way to contact Dextetpay so me and my dirty laundry left. I have no idea what the source of my frustration is, but DexterPay just walked me to another business...preferably one that uses coins.

I just downloaded this application because I only had quarters on me and didn’t want to pay a fee to take out 20$ at the atm. I am actually so giddy that I can pay on my phone to dry my clothes. Maybe it’s because I’m a millennial and I’m psyched over anything that makes my life even a tad bit easier 😭, but this application is awesome even if it’s so simple to use, actually just because it’s so simple to use makes it even more awesome.

Edit, I checked my bank account and they charged me 10 dollars when I only spent 2🙃, changed the rating from a 5 to a 2. terms of service does say banks will place a pre authorization hold on card and that some places charge a fee for convenience, and that any unused funds will be issued back to your account within 5-7 business days. That seems to me like and long time and I hope these places that charge convenience fees have signage up that says so. Will change rating to 4 stars once the unused amount is back in my account. I guess it is my fault for going gung-ho without reading the ToS but still kinda unhappy about the hold amount. The hold amount could put someone’s account into overdraft even if they did have the exact amount of money they actually spent on the dryers. This is something that needs to be changed for fear of added fees for people who don’t always have more than the hold amount in their banking accounts.
