They Fixed the App

I had previously given up on this app. It used to disconnect randomly and the require a full reset to use again. I tried it again randomly and the last update seems to have fixed the problems. Works great now and they’ve added light control functionality.

Poor Engineering

Inserts have to be taken completely out to reset module .. WiFi unit very weak… worst 300 bucks I have spent in awhile

It doesn't really work

I bought the module and installed it. Like others have said, the module works some what the first few days and then stops working. I have it connected to home assistant and I can see that the module is connected to WIFI and responding, but it's not really accepting any commands from this app or home assistant.

This module was definitly a waste of $200!

Not good

It just doesn’t work right even after you get it to work a day later it does not work you have to to take your cover off the fireplace and reset the button and the whole spiel. The app is not good

Inconsistent wi-fi app operation

I purchased the Vermont Castings Radiance fireplace from a local dealer mainly because of the past reputation of Vermont Castings.
The owners of the dealership are very pleasant to deal with however they refer any issues to Vermont Castings people or a local Service company that charges for every visit (including returning for the same issue).
My fireplace was installed by a local Service company - initially I thought they were incompetent but now after almost two years my fireplace does not work using the wi-fi module. The fireplace itself works fine.
I spent hours on the phone with Vermont Castings technicians only to find the wi-fi module and corresponding app would work a couple times and fail shortly after.
I can’t believe with todays technology the manufacturer is incapable of resolving issues with the product.
If you’re considering the purchase of a gas fireplace - do your research because this product does not work with the mobile app.

Frequent connection issues

I have two Heat n Glo inserts. They are wonderful units and work perfectly with the remote. This app and the entire API are really painful however. Typically one of the fireplaces is unresponsive. I can see them both via their MAC addresses connected to my wifi. I think there's an issue with multiple units staying connected with the remote service as my wifi coverage for 2.4GHz is very good where the fireplaces are. Anyway, the app needs a lot of love and polish. It feels very antiquated and with the disconnects and unresponsiveness using the physical remote is the best choice.

Horrible reliability and app needs work

If I could give the app and the associated Wi-Fi module a negative rating, I would. That something this buggy could be released to the public is insane. The Wi-Fi unit or server, whichever it is, constantly goes off-line requiring me to either take the face off the fireplace and power cycle it turn the breaker off and on. it was so bad and unreliable that I had to install a HomeKit outlet attached to my Wi-Fi network so I could power cycle it without having to take everything apart. Now, as of May 31, 2024, I cannot even login to the server. I’ve emailed home and hearth support who actually tried to be helpful and indicated that they’ve been having server problems. This was several weeks ago, but the problem has been ongoing for 2 years. When will it get fixed?

Absolute garbage app

I can see my fireplaces current setting, but I am never able to change them from the app. Hasn’t worked since we bought the fireplace 3 years ago

Reliability update

I was able to work with Garrett in tech support to address my issues with reliabilty. He was extremely responsive and helpful. It turned out that my ISP restricts use of certain ports that can be maliciously abused by bad actors. The Intellifire application uses a particular port for time synchronization with the Intellifire server that was being blocked by the ISP. I was able to request an exception from my ISP and this resolved the reliability issue. All’s well that ends well. Thanks Garrett!

Broken app

like all the other people out there, I must report this app worked fine for about a day or two and then failed completely. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and it will not even see or recognize the fireplace. What a miserable experience.
