Reliability update

I was able to work with Garrett in tech support to address my issues with reliabilty. He was extremely responsive and helpful. It turned out that my ISP restricts use of certain ports that can be maliciously abused by bad actors. The Intellifire application uses a particular port for time synchronization with the Intellifire server that was being blocked by the ISP. I was able to request an exception from my ISP and this resolved the reliability issue. All’s well that ends well. Thanks Garrett!

Broken app

like all the other people out there, I must report this app worked fine for about a day or two and then failed completely. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and it will not even see or recognize the fireplace. What a miserable experience.

Sub-par app resets settings frequently

I have used this app now for four years, I go to Florida every winter from Michigan, if I put the fireplace in “Cold Climate” mode and also use the Thermostat function ( in case my furnace fails), I must check this app twice a day because frequently the software on the fireplace or app constantly resets itself, meaning Cold Climate mode is turned off and Thermostat mode has disabled itself. I have put up with these problems since it was installed.

Buggy and flaky

Won’t stay connected to network. Works for an hour or so and then fails. Won’t reconnect. Requires complete reinstallstion and power cycle. Then fails again. Don’t purchase this wifi module. Application doesn’t help. No error indications. Fails silently.

Horrible App

I have a fireplace that is supposed to respond to this App. I have called the developer and the installer. On rare occasions has this worked. I paid 400 to have my fireplace web enabled and it isn’t. Don’t buy or use this App.

Apple home kit support?

So far, this app has worked fine for me. Any plans for Apple Home Kit support? I’d give more stars for that.

Great when it works

It’s and awesome app when it works but constantly loses connection and takes a wide variety of techniques and messing with to get back online and functioning. Very disappointed.

works sometimes

the app is nice when it works. but it stops working at least once per week. the only resolution is to press the reset button on the fireplace. unacceptable.

Constantly disconnected

The app constantly disconnects. I know the fireplace is sending its signal because it shows on my network. However the only way to reconnect the app is to do a hard reset by taking everything apart and sometimes even completely removing the device and re-adding it. Great concept but dont choose your fireplace hoping to use this app.

Part of an integrated product?

As an addendum to my previous review titled ‘Buggy at best’, I want to focus on the gas stove that I bought, and the advertising claims of the stove manufacturer. I bought the Vermont Castings Radiance stove for many reasons. But the two most important reasons are the reputation of Vermont Castings which has been stellar for many, many years.

The second reason was the advertising regarding WiFi control. The stove manufacturer advertises that one can purchase their WiFi module and control the stove from anywhere with internet access.

From my perspective, what I was buying was a fully integrated, bug free product from Vermont Castings that includes free software. It really doesn’t matter to me whether the software was directly created by Vermont Castings, a subsidiary of Vermont Castings, or an independent software provider. The entire product needs to be an integrated product.

When this software is buggy, the entire product is not as advertised and is buggy. One doesn’t buy a gas stove only to find that the igniter is faulty, and have the stove manufacturer say “We didn’t make that…. Go chase the igniter manufacturer.”. The same is true for all components, including software for a customer expecting to buy an integrated product.
