  • App pure garbage

I purchased the NSL20i-BK, and at this price point, the app is pure garbage!! I sincerely hope they are working on some serious software updates. Do not spend money on this product until they get serious about end-to-end support. I haven’t even been able to connect once.
  • Junk

Bought the safe for the Wi-Fi and it doesn’t work gets to the pairing part and says error code 4 whatever that is. I have an eero mesh. It should pick up the Wi-Fi cause it sends out 2.4 or 5 depending on the device now I try to go in and says my pasword is wrong it worked yesterday now it doesn’t work today. VAULTEK needs a better app this think is pure trash. I’ve emailed them twice and have gotten no response, as of now I won’t ever buy another VAULTEK product.

  • Junk

This app is junk. I have tried everything in their book and customer support and it doesn’t even pair with the Wi-Fi network. If you bought the safe thinking it will connect via Wi-Fi, ask for your money back.
  • Wifi not working

95% of time the Apple is offline, don’t know is the issue from hardy or software
  • Smart Features DO NOT WORK

The app is worthless. It will not connect to a eero mesh Wi-Fi system even in 2.4GHz mode. This safe is not worth the money I paid with a half baked, garbage app. The smart features do not work without the app, and the app is completely broken. Tech support is a joke.
  • Where’s the safe unlock feature via app???

This app needs more work. The safe is awesome, but it seems like a no brained that you should be able to unlock the safe via the app. Please make this a reality in future releases.
  • Horrible

This is a terrible app. I upgraded my phone and now it won’t let me connect my safe to my phone. I have even hard reset my safe and tried to setup everything like new and it still doesn’t work. The safe is good but don’t download the app it’s not worth the time or frustration.
  • Horrible tech, great box of metal I guess

The safe itself is fine but I have yet to successfully setup Wi-Fi through this app.

Knowing this now, I would have bought a less expensive competitor and just done without the Wi-Fi.

Very disappointing for a $500 safe
  • This app is so bad I’m actually writing a review!

I’m one of the many people who never, EVER write reviews for apps. With that being said, this app is next level bad, so bad that I’m actually writing a review. The safe itself is great, but I feel cheated as part of the reason I paid $300 for a 1-gun safe was the ability to monitor the status remotely via Wi-Fi connection. Unfortunately, the app makes it quite literally impossible to connect to Wi-Fi. And in case you’re thinking I’m a technologically challenged “boomer”, that isn’t the case. My house is filled with smart devices, including every single light switch and several outlets - point being in very familiar with connecting smart devices to the internet. When trying to connect this safe via the preferred way (holding keys 4+5+program button until buttons flash red), the app gets to the final step each time then displays “Error Code 4.” I then try connecting via the WPS button, and when I get to the “Select Safe” step after pressing the “Add New User” button, nothing happens after selecting the safe. I tried tapping “select”, I tried pressing and holding “select”, and tried the same with touching the image of the safe itself as opposed to the “select” button. I also tried doing so on the other two safe options just to see if either of those would produce a response. Spoiler alert: None of them worked. Nothing ever happened. Ever.

Conclusion: While this app may theoretically be Wi-Fi-capable, in practice this is just an over priced “dumb” safe. For a $300 safe that holds but one gun, the company owes it to the consumers to invest a respectable amount of resources into its app to ensure the features they advertise actually work. As-is, it is not unfair to say that this is nothing short of false advertising. Being ostensibly capable of wi-fi connection means nothing if you cannot, in fact, connect to wi-fi.

I genuinely feel ripped off by what I previously believed (but no longer believe) to be a reputable company. I would say that the average rating of this app is much deserved, but I actually believe that 2-stars is simply too high. To be honest, 1-star is too high, because if an app does not perform its main advertised function, then it is definitively useless. This app is exactly that: useless. Shame on VAULTEK for advertising their safes as wi-fi capable when they are the antithesis of that.

  • Good Safe Bad App

I was looking forward to getting the 800i and having the WI-FI monitoring. It never works right. False readings. Loses connection. Terrible app.
