  • WiFi connection is awful

    Won’t stay connected to WiFi. Need to find a better one.
  • Huge Improvement for Snow Melt!

    After we installed our snow melt controller last year, I wrote a scathing review because the app barely did anything. Well y’all have been busy because the latest update is a huge improvement! I can finally get push notifications when the snow melt starts, control the temp set points, see the full status of the sensor, and see exterior temp! This is a massive improvement! Hoping to see more so I can move this to a 5 star rating in the future, but so close!

  • Could use more specific metrics

    It would be nice if it gave time in Y1/G1/G2 instead of simply heating vs cooling.

  • Terrible app

    So the controller has three states: warm weather, shut down, sensor, wet, or dry, and driveway above or below setpoint.

    If all three are satisfied i.e. it’s below warm weather shut down, and the sensor is wet and the driveway is below the setpoint, the system will run. However, the app tells you that the system is running when it’s below warm weather shut down and the sensor is wet. Even if the driveway is 90°, it will tell you the system is running when it is obviously lying.

    Also, the energy used graph, only tells you how long the pumps are running, and not exactly how long the boilers were running. There is so much more information on the control panel that could be accessed from this app at least to monitor it if not to be able to set it which you should be able to do. So another word you should be able to adjust points and other parameters from the app.

    Whoever wrote the specification for the app should be fired.

  • Not very user friendly

  • Good but Could Be a Bit Better?

    App works well but would be better if it collected more information from the boiler such as how many kw/h it is using rather than just how many hours the boiler runs during a 24 hour period. Maybe that is a function of what information the Tekmar thermostat is able to collect? With a good connection to the internet by the monitored device, app has been stable.

  • Hard to use. Frustrating

    Shouldn’t the smart thermostat be able to figure out what time zone to set the time on the thermostat too on its own? Changing the time in the thermostat manuall is near impossible. Plus I keep getting an error and don’t know how to turn the early start feature on the thermostat off! So far extremely frustrating.

  • Need improvement

    Would be great to be able to add price of electricity per kilowatt hours and get costs of heating per day-week-month-year

  • Don’t Like the App or the System

    The ability to manage basic functions is anemic. Can’t turn the fan on or off…can’t turn the schedule on or off…can’t turn the HRV on or off. Most items require the use of the thermostat itself. What’s the point of the app if you have to be in front of the thermostat for 90% of what you need to do? This Tekmar system was installed by the builder…nice in principle…but wow, painful! My wife is suggesting ripping it out and separating the heat/cooling, HRV and humidity controls into separate units.

  • Suggestions for improvements

    To begin with, this app is disappointingly primitive, compared to Ecobee, which I have installed at another home. I suggest that the developers study the Ecobee UI for inspiration about how to make the Watts app more functional and easier to use.

    Here are a couple of specific suggestions for minor improvements to the current app —

    1. My app has two locations listed: “Default Location”, which was created when I installed the app, and “Main House”, which was shared with me by the installer who set up the thermostats. When I launch the app, it selects “Default Location”, which is useless. I must manually switch to “Main House” in order to access my actual thermostats. There is no way to get rid of “Default Location” or to make another location be the default on startup.

    2. The dashboard shows only the current temperature and system mode of each thermostat. It should also show the set temperature (for heating, cooling, or both) and whether the equipment is actually operating now. There is plenty of room in the dashboard tiles to show this information.
