Flaky and frustrating

When it works, great, but it has lots of bugs
- Today it thought it opened a locker but it didn’t. Then I couldn’t get it to forget that and open another - I had to uninstall the app and reinstall, and almost missed my train
- In the past I got a notification that I was over my rental time, even though I had 4 hours left. I think I wasn’t overcharged but I see no way to view a list of rentals
- PLEASE PLEASE give us a setting to define the default rental time. I can’t tell you how many times I have accidentally rented for 10h - I always need 15h, please stop defaulting need to 10!

Cannot fit a bike

This is a joke. The units looks like they can fit a bike, but when you actually open them they are divided halfway through diagonally and absolutely cannot fit my standard sized bicycle.

Total bait and switch.

Extremely frustrating experience.

Pretty much perfect!

My only complaint is that I wish there were more BikeLink lockers popping up in my area (Santa Cruz, CA). The app works perfectly and the recent addition of group parking has been a big plus!

Wasted my time

I think this is a great idea, but the company is basically another grift on the weak US public transit system. They offer extremely small lockers that won’t fit any large bike or even a rack at all in my experience. There is no way to know this until you preload your balance. There are no in-app refunds and I was told to charge back my credit card if I can’t wait for a 24+ hr callback. Very buggy app throws a bunch of errors despite taking your money on top of all this.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback! Our lockers are designed to park the vast majority of bikes, however we have seen that bike sizes have been trending larger recently. That's why we offer a variety of parking solutions, including new large and extra-large lockers and Bike Rooms that can accommodate nearly all bikes. The dimensions of the larger lockers are displayed in the app when you first open it, and locker dimensions are in our FAQs. You can explore locations without an account to see if a bike room or large locker location is near you. We have refunded your money, and gave you some courtesy value to try a nearby bike room or large locker. Please report a problem through the app so our developers can look into the errors you had. Our goal is to make bike commuting as easy as possible in our transit system.

Needs to link to transit passes like first world systems

App needs to be integrated into transit fare payment systems like Clipper Card for rider convenience like
In first world countries

Great concept, Used to be really good

I used to love these lockers. I used to park in these lockers every day to hop on Amtrak. However, their system must be going down the drain. My app would not let me unlock my bike. I had to call support for 20 min for them to unlock it. They didn't even load my credit up to compensate for time lost.

“Report a problem” doesn’t let us report problems

Tapping on the “Submit” button on the “Report a problem” screen does nothing. The actual problem is that the iOS app doesn’t open Google Maps, but only Apple Maps. There’s no live availability info for the lockers, so you can only hope that you’ll get lucky. (Also, there aren’t enough lockers in my city.)

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback. Most of our locations do have live availability, but adding this feature (and installing more lockers) depends on local public agencies. Please email us at support@bikelink.org with your city, and we’ll tell you who to contact. Our iOS app defaults to Apple Maps, but we’re looking into Google Maps support. The submit button issue will be fixed in the next update.

Was good until it wasn’t

Beeen working relatively well until today when it wouldn’t open the locker. Took ~30 minutes with phone support to get it open but it still thinks it’s in there on the app and is now charging at a higher rate. ??? I tried longing out of the app and now when I try to log back in I get error -1009 , which appears to be some sort of domain related error. Maybe that’s why the end rental button was stuck with some sort of highlight cycling across it. This needs to be more reliable. Don’t know if the support is 24 hours but I’d hate to be stuck somewhere late at night because I can’t get my bike out of the locker.

Update - I guess the issue I was having was due to a UI change where you now need to swipe the end rental button instead of pushing it. Agreed with the person I spoke with at BikeLink that this is a great idea as it makes it less likely that one might inadvertently push the button and not notice the door pop open as they walk away. Just the UI wasn’t expressive enough with what action was necessary and the app auto updated, so, no chance to be notified of the change. Maybe a text with a link to a “new features” page would help. The inability to log in was also resolved and something I’d still consider a bug but, since I now know the workaround, I’ll just call it an odd behavior.

I’ve bumped my rating from 2 to 4, which means some things still can be improved but a worthy app.

Thanks for the feeback! We have updated the swipe to end button UI to make it super clear how to use it. We are working on a fix for the sign-in issue (it does appear to be related to your home network setup somehow). Happy biking!

Broken Junk!

My location has 20 lockers and over the last year I’ve seen them fail one by one until there is just one left. I have contacted support several times but the lockers remain inoperable.

Response from developer

Please let us know which location needs service at support@bikelink.org. We will work with the locker owners to get them operable as soon as possible. While we operate the system, we do not own the lockers.
