  • Don’t buy

If you’re reading this, you’re probably like me- you already bought the card reader, used it for a month, and then out of the blue, it stops reading your memory card and you freak out because you feel like you lost tons of hard work and great images. And who knows, it’s still possible that you did. But you won’t know until you go to the store and get a new, much better, not-Vivitar card reader because this is freaking ridiculous.

Even if it wasn’t all of a sudden a dud, it wasn’t a great app. No way to rotate photos, no way to dump everything all at once. It’s not me, Vivitar- it’s you.
  • Worst storage

Cannot access anything on my file after transfer, requires you to use the app so cannot use to transfer from phone to computer, cannot copy from app onto phone. Made everything in my drive inaccessible after hours of transferring specifically to mail it. Only after reaching my lawyer did we realize she would need the converter and app to access anything. Absolutely ridiculous.
  • Complications and Loopholed

Alright, so the app isn’t the worse but definitely can improve. I found the app favors JPEG over RAW files when it comes to downloading and viewing them, but I figured out how to transfer my RAW files nonetheless. Just putting this out there for those who are struggling. RAW files are in the “File/Folder” section only. When I tried to download a single RAW photo, it said that it did...but the image never appeared in my camera roll. So what I did was, “multi select” multiple raw files, then click “more” (bottom right), and “save to photo album” should appear. I clicked that, and THEN my RAW photos appeared in my camera roll. I wish the app was easier to work with but for now this will do.
  • Let’s you create folders but not sort into it

Will not let you keep your folders, all folders and sorting you try to do will not carry over from your files, and any folders you make in their app will not be allowed to be selected to transfer into, nor will it let you select and transfer, only copy into so that you have to make multiple copies of each and every file you wish to transfer to attempt any kind of filing. Useless if you need to transfer paperwork from your IPad to another computer.
  • Worked only the first time

This app worked to read the SD card I plugged only the first time. Second time it shows the card is empty. Asked me for access to pretty much everything, then stopped reading the card and only shows what’s on my phone. I don’t need it to read the photos on my phone. Useless. I know I didn’t pay for it but come on! What’s the point of it?
  • Deleted App

I just deleted the App hoping that the data would get delete as well. When I use the app it shows I have pictures that have already been deleted in between the newly downloaded pictures. It always uploads the same number and I think it’s uploading the same set of pictures. Anyway it’s not user friendly and needs work.
  • Simply not compatible

I needed a reader that would allow me to look at SD cards from my trail cams on my iPhone/iPad and Dell laptop. So, I purchased the Vivitar reader from Walmart. Text on the package indicated the unit was Apple and Windows 10 compatible.
When I first hooked it up with a card containing videos to my iPad, it forced the app download and I was able to see the videos.
Later when I hooked the unit up to my laptop, the card appeared empty and kept indicating a format was required.
    No formatting would work.
From that moment on, the reader simply ceased to work with any of my devices..
After a lot of digging, I have now learned a few things.
My trail cams recommend Fat32 formatting, which is also default for Windows.
Reviews for the app indicate Fat16 as recently added.
In the end I purchased a Kensington reader. At least I can now see my files, but not on Apple.
The promise of compatibility has not been kept.
  • Is there a lemon law

Gots some annoying bugs that needs tending to .. it worked fine for the first week , great actually . Now it crashes so much, like every 3 mins if ur lucky ..It’s been two months now since I wrote the first part of this and it’s crashing even more it needs to be fixed somehow
  • Disappointed and a waste of money for the device.

Everything worked great for a week. Then, the device would not read the memory cards, and there are pictures on there. $25 is too much for device that fails after a week.
  • Yes It Does Except Raw Images

I saw the only review on here said that this app “does not work for RAW image files.” I found this to not be the case, the only misleading part is they are found under the File/Folder tab rather then the image tab. But in short I transferred files from my DSLR camera too my iPhone using this app 👍🏼
