I did like this app. I don’t like that any support you need has to be by email. Also, I’ve been a member since 2021 and I noticed that there had been no activity for about 30 days. I contacted Grifin and they emailed me that Alpaca Securities made several ACH attempts that were declined. I never received ANYTHING from my bank informing me that any ACH were declined. When I contacted them , my bank said there were NO ACH attempts since Dec 12, 2023 and that one went through fine. Grifin told me that ALPACA had restricted my account due to the failed ACH attempts that never happened. Additionally , I was also unable to withdraw any funds that were in my accounts!!! WHAT!!?? I was restricted from depositing or withdrawing my money ?? Anyway , after several back and forth emails , the withdrawal restriction was lifted and I was able to withdraw some of my money. However, my account was permanently restricted from making any deposits, in other words , I had to close my account because what’s the point. The Grifin people continued to send me emails telling me when my next buy / deposit was going to be made , but it never happened bc of the restriction from Alpaca. Seems like the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand it doing. I would not recommend this App unless you are ready to feel like they are going to keep your money.

LOVE Grifin, it really is effortless! Once you sign up and register your bank account/card there’s nothing more that you need to do except SPEND!
I signed up and started using it and actually kind of forgot about it for several months and when I logged back in I realized I own stock in over 100 different companies. Now some of them are barely even 3% of 1 share, but others I actually own multiple (full) shares of stock!
I have also bought additional shares of stock with the money that you have for “investing“ (that happens when you use your card at a store that is not publicly traded, they still take the dollar out but it goes into investable cash. Makes me feel like Im “playing the stock market”
But, in all seriousness it has taught me a little bit about the stock market and I’m able to see what’s making money, what’s not making money, which of my stocks I’ve earned the most from etc… and it’s also really fun.
I never even miss the money that is taken out (one dollar at a time) when I use my card at places And that is really the best part. I have built a little nest egg of stocks and even cash (forgot to say if you have investable cash you do not need to purchase shares of stocks you can also transfer that money right into your bank account with one click of a button.
If you haven’t tried Grifin, you definitely should!!!

There have been a few bugs, however, Grifin does a good job at relaying any technical issues and giving a timeline for resolution. I love that I am able to make small investments in the companies I shop at. The ability to buy additional stock is also great for when you’re wanting more and financially able to make that jump. You’d be surprised how quickly your “investable cash” grows! I’m not heavy into stocks so I don’t check often, maybe every other week or less, and I am pleased with the ease of automation and investing made easy. I highly recommend for anyone interested in stocks and those who are looking for a low-stakes way to get started. Why not have stock where you shop? Seems like a no-brainer to me! 🙂

Initially, around April, I was having the same issues a lot of other users reported. I had money that was being deducted but I couldn’t invest it. But as the app progressed, I was able to more easily move money around. I have about $400 invested in about 24 stocks at this point. I can easily see what I have and where it is. The only couple of issues I still see are: 1. I would really like to be able to invest in any company I want and not just the ones I have made purchases from. I often make purchases at random spots (like a car wash) where there is no stock. I’d like to be able to take those “loose dollars” and buy Tesla or Microsoft or something. I don’t see myself buying a Tesla vehicle but I’d like the option of investing. 2. Sometimes it freezes up when I try to sign in. But it doesn’t happen often enough to be a big deal

UPDATE: Steven you definitely need to get involved because James and alpaca continue to cancel every withdrawal I try to make. I have sent over bank statements for two different banks. I have sent over documentation that shows the member number from the credit union goes to the account reflected on the bank statement and yet as of this morning my withdrawal was canceled yet again
Please explain to me exactly what more do you need to release my money to me?

Thank you - Steven, Product LeadI've been using Griffin for a bit now and I think it is very ease of access especially if you don't have time I do think the FAQs could be more broad because I had a lot of questions at first and my first experience was through reels that got me to it! The customer support is the saving grace at the moment if you have any questions, all of the staff that support the app are very knowledgeable on the things you can do with the app you may not be aware of. They also give recommendations on how you can maximize your savings, and set you on the right path and let it seamlessly do its job as you just buy your stuff! Like I was a beginner had no idea I was doing and they are the reason I stayed and I would will continue to see where investments go for myself! Hope more people will try it and don't be afraid to ask questions if they can't find it in the FAQs, they give you realistic advice for the future and help you access more of the app as well!
