Train Wreck

Yup, I pretty much agree with other reviewers. This app is a train wreck, the previous one was around for a long time and worked well. DCU, you guys should know better than to roll out apps that are this clunky. It took 15 minutes on my first use to find the means to “sign out”…it’s in the membership tab, upper right corner. Why not have “sign out” available no matter what tab one is in? App opens on a useless tab, with useless information. Why do you care what my tax filing status is? None of your business, that’s what it is. I’ve been with DCU since it was little more than a one window counter in a makeshift space in various Digital Equipment Corp buildings, and have liked you a lot over the years. The past decade has seen DCU morph into just another big bank. There are plenty of credit unions these days, maybe it’s time to look around.

BRING BACK THE WIDGET

This new update Could’ve been great…... If done correctly! Used to have the widgets for DCU balances on the Home Screen to see account balances quickly without logging in. Now you have to go to app and log in, and it’s not even on the first screen the accounts! I like the new feature Future look but would’ve been best if accounts were at first page at the top and then Future Look after. Also I don’t even use DCU to send money to other DCU members anymore!! People pay needs to come back. No one wants to give out their member ID and account information to send/receive money! That’s personal info!! Bring back the widget and people pay! Been using cash app and Venmo to send money to other DCU members. What a shame.

This app is proof the the DCU hates its customers

This “upgrade” is just the latest in a long line of evidence that the DCU hates its customers. The app is now nothing more than an attempt to force customers to use bloated features that do not benefit the customer but benefit the DCU. Mobile bank apps are used to monitor accounts and make payments. This used to be possible just by logging in. Now it takes a minimum of five clicks to accomplish anything. Instead of being able to access your own information, every single piece of this app is designed to be a commercial for features that are done better by other services. I cannot wait for the day I sell my condo, close my mortgage with the DCU, and never have to deal with these monsters ever again.

Great update!!

I’m not sure why there are so many negative reviews, I think people just don’t like change and haven’t taken the time to see what’s available in the new app. We still have people pay, it’s just called Pay a Person. The new app format is so clean and organized. In the old app, you couldn’t view your statements, submit disputes, download any letters, or do password resets so I really love that I can do that from my app now instead of needing to log in through my computer for these simple things. Thanks DCU for improving your online systems!

Terrible App Design

The app opens to a page of services and directions- this is a banking app- I want to open to my accounts. Not the banking services I don’t want or need…that is cluttered junk.
The pay feature puts all sorts of random types of payments before you get to pay your bills. Then the pay bill feature is bulky and inefficient. It’s also confusing because when you make a payment it shows a send and delivery date…they are at least 1 business day apart. I want to send a payment and I want the funds out of my account and I want my bill delivered on time.
DCU has been my primary bank for years but between a botched mortgage refinance and this terrible app, it’s time to look at moving my accounts.
Damage control is critical at this time- they need to relaunch the old app, scrap this garbage. Then they need to look at competitors apps and figure out what we actually want as banking customers. Emulate that and then people might actually like the app.

Incompetent upgrade to new app

The incompetence and hubris of DCU in rolling out the new app makes me question the competence of the entire organization.
I couldn't believe they would make me re-enter all check payee info and wouldn't programmatically do it. Waited on hold for 1 hour to be told that I would indeed have re-enter all the data - so copied it all down with intention of re-entering it in a new bank and closing down DCU (after 20+ years). Turns out they DID transfer the data so will slowly transition from DCU. (Note to developer: memo shouldn't be with payee profile since it changes check by check - to write invoice # for instance). New app marginally worse, but all 'benefits' are to DCU trying get and manage more of your money... nothing customer or user oriented. Instead of a credit union sharing the 'profit', DCU pays terrible interest rates and spends $ to get bigger and support more management costs. Lost its way... this app upgrade is emblematic. Too bad.

Too many steps to transfer money

This new app took away some features and now it takes many more steps (and much more time) to transfer money between accounts. Put all the transfer money steps back on a single screen. Less clicks = more successful app.

ATM finder only finds DCU ones, of which there are none in Charlotte. It should show you the “sister” credit unions and ATMs that are not DCU brand and also, the app needs to automatically start at the users location.

Also, cannot save my password in the app anymore. iPhone 12, turned on keychain and it’s not prompting me to save credentials; it worked on the iPhone 13.

The new “Dashboard” is absolutely useless. When you log in, it should take you directly to the account balance screen. And there was no reason to spread out all the accounts. Squish them up again so you can see most of them on a single screen again.

The “Sign Out” button should be on the top of every tab, or at least the accounts tab and why is it a two-step process now? If I click sign out, it should just do it rather than prompting. Or if you want to prompt, make an option to turn that prompt off.

PEOPLE PAY IS GONE!

People pay is no longer an option on this “new updated” app! That is very disappointing considering people pay was how I paid my rent!
Not only is people pay gone, but now everything is literally placed in its own category, you have to go to a separate page to view your checking or savings account. (They are not on the same page anymore.) There isn’t a widget for quick balance either, so every time you want to look at your balances you need to manually open the app and check your balances. (Which also means opening up separate pages because your accounts are no longer combined on a single page!) I feel like this app is more time consuming if anything!

Preposterous failure. Upgrade canceled my auto-pays.

I’ve been an avid DCU customer for 20+ years, but today I’ve opened a new account elsewhere. If that goes well, I’ll move all my money out. I have a long list of complaints about the new app, but top of my list is that it reduced the monthly auto-pay of my credit cards from "full balance" to "minimum" without my knowledge or consent. This is either gross incompetence or greed. If you auto-pay your credit cards with DCU, RUN, do not walk to find this setting and change it back. This is why I left my previous bank; after getting nailed with interest and penalties, it took me months to get my money back, and then I still got calls at night from a collection agency. DCU, YOU BLEW IT AND I’M OUT!

Love it!

I've been a DCU member for 15 years, have moved 4 states and currently live in Colorado. This new interface is awesome and makes it so much easier to use, plus the extra features. I've always had such an easy time with DCU which is why I never left, they're easy to call, get in touch with, make deposits, do everything from my phone or computer. I haven't had to step foot in a bank in over 5 years. And this new app makes it even easier in my opinion. Love the upgrade!!
