  • Optiwatt No Longer Works!!!

I have used OptiWatt for my Tesla for several years and loved it. With the latest update, it no longer handles scheduling of charging and departures. I have written to the developers 3 times in the past months and…crickets. Very disappointing. Went from 5 star app to 1 star.
  • Issues

App seemed to be working well earlier this year but lately I’m not sure. What’s the point of having the ability to schedule a trip if the app won’t allow the car to charge? I don’t want to leave for a trip with low battery and this happens ALL the time now. I understand grid support events but I also need to have a decently charged vehicle at some point.

  • Been a user for years until

Recently Optiwatt started using Tesla’s API and requiered me to give them access to certain aspects of the car. I get that it needs permission to read account info and control charging schedules and track location, I’m ok with that but why would it need access to locks and add or remove drivers? Nope, removed the app from my Tesla account, deleted my Optiwatt account and deleted the app from my phone. No way I’m giving that much control over my car. Maybe I don’t understard how it works but it clearly states in my Tesla account I am giving Optiwatt control to lock and unlock the doors and the app will not work if you don’t. Why is this necessary?

Hi Herbolla! Thanks for your message and we are happy to provide some colour regarding your concerns for access on your Tesla while using our Optiwatt app. Regarding your aforementioned note (i.e. unlock, add/remove drivers), Optiwatt never uses these commands for the app; These are included in the vehicle's commands. Our app only uses the vehicle's location to make sure it only tracks home charges and the only vehicle commands would be the start/stop charging plus wakeup. If you have any further questions, concerns or feedback, please send us an e-mail at support@getoptiwatt.com
  • Borderline Criminal

Completely removes any way of controlling your charging and over charges your battery, or doesn’t charge it. I had to fully reset my Ford Mach e and change my password. It is almost like it infected my cars operating system. Word of advice, if you want to charge your car, use the app made for it and follow recommended best practices and times.

  • Stopped working and team doesn’t care!

It stopped working for my Teslas. The customer service told me a few times they would look into it. It’s been several months and nothing.
  • Pretty awesome to know you’re only using clean electricity

I have been using this app for my Tesla for about four months now and it is pretty awesome. There is a feature where you can allow the app to manage when your car charges, and additional options that you can select that say the app will only allow the car to charge when your power grid is using clean electricity and/or when electricity is at the cheapest rate. It does this by having you connect to your electric company account. A very cool feature, useful enough that it made me want to come here and write this review. I would recommend.

  • Caused Ford Account Lockout

I was surprised to find out this app is not authorized by Ford to connect to my Ford account despite the Optiwatt app stating otherwise during the vehicle connection process. Because of this, my Ford account was locked and disabled due to this illegal 3rd party API connection. I had to call Ford to get access again and the engineer informed me of this noncompliance and stated that I must delete this connection to get access to my account. Long story short, Optiwatt led me to believe l that their connection to my Ford account was approved and secured and, according to Ford, it is not.

  • Missing car

Been waiting for a few months to be able to add my car. Still nothing.
Kia isn’t even listed as an option.
Just patiently waiting for my EV6 to be added.
  • Better but still not right

⭐️It’s been a week and my utility plan is still pending even though I uploaded a utility bill. Used to drive a Ram 1500, would make sense to compare my gas savings to that vs a random car that gets better gas mileage then the one I got rid of.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ There was an update that allowed me to change the vehicle it’s comparing the gas savings to. I can now compare it to a Ram 1500 but only the 3.6L V6 when I had a 5.7L V8. Would be cool if they just let us insert our MPG ratings vs trying to auto populate the information based off a selection they have available. You guys could add more engine options but would be easier to let us choose our vehicle and manually put in the factory rated City, Average, and Highway MPG. You guys do that and I’ll change to a 5 star review

Please email us at support@getoptiwatt.com in order to get your plan updated sooner! You can now set a custom ICE vehicle as your gas savings comparison in the Optiwatt app. On your home page, click the question mark next to gas savings and select your vehicle of choice. We hope you enjoy this new customized feature as much as we do. Let us know if you have any questions or additional feedback.
