  • Mach-E Electrical System Drain

It appears this app was causing an electrical system drain on my Mustang Mach E. I never authorized it to control the charging of my vehicle, kept every option unchecked. It would drain about 1% of my car’s battery PER DAY. Super scary. Ford has sent a message about users needing to be careful of apps they provide access to. Made me realize this app could be the issue. Since deleting the app from my phone, the electrical system drain stopped. I will still take it to Ford to make sure but it’s been about ten days and no drains have happened. The company did respond to my request to delete the app and all of the information they had collected and asked which car I had. At least they were responsive. Just be aware.

  • Doesn’t work

Set the correct energy provider and the correct exact plan I have and gave it control of charging times. It would charge during peak hours, took a while to figure this out and it cost me some energy $. Tried to fix and double check a few times and the same result. Removed it or turn off letting it control and everything is fine it at that point there is no radon to have it.

  • Car makes limited

Well can’t even add my car to the app, the list of car makes is limited. Apps are only any good if the are updated.

  • what is this, an app for ANTS?

in its current state, this app gives little more information than the tesla app, and the extra info it gives is deceptive. it compares the model 3 to a bmw 330i. i love my model 3 but its not a bmw. it also compares PREMIUM gasolne price to calculate “savings”. thumb on the scale. in my opinion, tesla stands on its own and doesnt need “help” like premium gasoline
i drive 4.2 miles per kwh. a kwh costs me $0.18. thats 4.3 CENTS per mile.
here are my suggestions to improve the app
    1. drop the premium fuel comparison. no one buys that. also the “gallons of gas saved” is a lie. it should be a comparison of how many MORE gallons you would have used if you had a 30mpg vehicle.
    2. show exactly how many kwh were used to charge. its annoying to always have to multiply 75 by some percentage.
    3. drop the environmental impact. more fake info, and i dont care how many containers of propane ive saved. i doubt anyone does.
    4. compare it to something like a top of the line camry instead of a bmw. it would be handy to know how many miles you have to drive to cover the cost difference. if you want to sell EVs, you need to show people that if they spend an extra 10k, you will break even at 80k miles or whatever and start getting ahead after that.

ill be checking on this app periodically to see if it improves. i am hopeful because it could be pretty handy

Thank you so much for the feedback. I want to let you know we just added a feature where you can now set a custom ICE vehicle as your gas savings comparison in the Optiwatt app. On your home page, click the question mark next to gas savings and select your vehicle of choice. We hope you enjoy this new customized feature as much as we do. Let us know if you have any questions or additional feedback.
  • Simple features not available

This app is so nearly perfect. Unfortunately, all times are rounded to the nearest hour so if, like me, you're off peaks hours 00:30-4:30 you'll lose an hour of charging

  • Needs some more options

Excellent idea but still limited, in my opinion. I have two Teslas at two different addresses. Both cars use the same utility company. I charge my model S at one home address to 60% charge six days of the week and to 90% charge on one day of the week, which is consistent. The app does not allow me to change the percentage charge on a particular day. Also, I cannot adjust the different schedule times for the second car, a model 3, at a different address.
    Otherwise, I think it’s a great idea.

  • Little U.K. support

For signup, they require my address. Being in the U.K., it cannot find my town, let alone the street or house. If I put in a false address, it then cannot find my energy provider. No use to me then …

  • Keeps crashing my charging session

Oddly enough, after I installed this app and gave it access to my account, whenever I plugged in at home, my breaker kept tripping. Once I deleted my account, I had no problems with my breaker tripping and stopping my charging session.
  • Unreliable to Control Charging

This happens especially after my Tesla gets a software update. Sometimes randomly, my car charges as soon as its plugged in, rather than optiwatt controlling it. Used to be very reliable. Not sure what happened as of couple months ago.
  • Almost Perfect

It would be nice to actually have real time pricing calculated instead of using day ahead pricing for the customers that have hourly pricing configurations for their electricity.
