Usability can be significantly improved
I like the idea of this app but after a couple days I’m about to quit because of poor usability.
The issue is with the scrolling wheel user interface when selecting the times in Sleep Diary.
1) the times are always presented in the wrong order - for wake up time you have to start with midnight and scroll scroll scroll scroll, going backwards through the day to find the morning slot. For bedtime, it’s the opposite you have to scroll forward from the morning. So much scrolling!!!
2) when scrolling that dial, on the iPhone, the scrolling action keeps interfering with iOS gestures and it keeps bringing up the app switcher mode. So frustrating!
Please get rid of this scrolling time selection ASAP. We don’t want to spend 20 minutes trying to enter in our sleep diary in the morning - you told me it’s only supposed to take 1 minute from my day…
Otherwise the app looks great!

A good app accompanying a good programme
Sleepio makes it available on line with a quality programme that doesn’t cut any corners. This accompanying app is very much fit for purpose.
I’m on my fourth week with Sleepio on the recommendation of my doctor. And I’m really getting to grips with my insomnia after years of totally chaotic sleep. (You don’t need a doctor’s referral though)
A sleep diary is at the heart of the programme. This app makes it very straight forward to fill in. I’ve also developed (as part of the programme) a personal schedule that will help me improve my chances of sleeping through the night. That’s available too on the app and so is always at my finger tips.
In addition there are a whole range of resources to help with the racing mind and the anxiety that so often goes with insomnia. I’m impressed.
The programme requires commitment and a willingness to let go of old and less good habits. We insomniacs need all the help we can get on our journey. This app helps us on our way. And for me? Well, I’m beginning to get results!

Surprisingly effective - sleeping so much better now
Before using this, you should appreciate that it takes work. It’s not a magic solution. But they teach you techniques that seriously work. My favorites are paradoxical thinking and sleep scheduling.
Paradoxical thinking really surprised me. I think it was in week 4. Sleep scheduling is really hard - but it seriously made a big difference.
My main feedback on this is that I didn’t find the first two weeks as helpful. I’m glad that I stuck with it because week 3 is when I learned sleep scheduling. I think that made the biggest difference. So if I hadn’t stuck with it, I may have not gotten o the part that helped the most.
