Shockingly poor…

A very poor customer journey with Barclaycard. Multiple Issues with the app, when discussed with Tom from the customer service team the final response was; we are not legally obligated to provide customers with an app. I had conflicting information with the connection with my commercial accounts section of my main Barclays app. Following the poor service received I cleared the whole outstanding balance (as I will not be paying them another penny in interest) and will be using other providers. I’m also writing to the financial ombudsman having taking screenshots of the misinformation and app glitches. More than a blemish on the Barclays brand as I know it. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid!

Useless and no sign of it getting better

As others have said, it does not show an overview of your account, only transactions for that month. As a result it gives false info about available credit. It also doesn’t tell you what you owe that month. Even the ‘statements’ aren’t your actual statements as they only report transactions within that month without showing total amount spent, available credit or how much needs to be paid off that month. Hopeless. Went back to paper statements as this is so useless.

App simply does not work

Firstly the app is clunky when compared to other banks apps. There is no chat function, no notifications when a cardholder spends, balance does not update immediately and cannot make balance payments through the apps.

The biggest issue is however I am constant getting an APSN warning and cannot log in. I am told by Barclays that I need to FACTORY RESET my phone to be able to log in to the app. The problem lies with the app, the days of having to factory reset devices to solve issues are long over. This is something that needs to get sorted with your app. As I am unable to log in I am unable to add a card to Apple Pay either and can only check balances by using an archaic pin sentry to log on the website.

It’s 2022 Barclays, please sort it out.

Outdated and hard to use

Requires a password instead of Face ID, so what is the point of it?
Ability to paste text in password field is disabled, so that makes it useless for those of using secure password vaults. The workaround is to go back to the old days of passwords that are easy to remember and type.
Unfortunately, the alternative to the app is the nasty keypad thing.
No wonder the new Fintech companies are doing so well, when legacy companies like Barclaycard are so easy to overtake.

Most useless banking app that ever existed

Firstly, I don’t know where the 4.5 rating is coming from because if there ever was a useless app this is it. Not only does it not show the correct balance or correct amount available to spend, according to the app the credit card has been paid off already which it hasn’t! I cannot pay the card via the app, they don’t send statements either by post or email with payment info. No mobile pin-sentry, nothing! What exactly is this app for? Just a complete waste of space on my phone. Serves no purpose whatsoever.

Password management despicable

You can’t copy and paste, so the temporary password has to be laboriously read and typed in. No visibility toggle, so you can’t see what you’ve typed. And then they’re enforcing 16 character limit with special characters etc. So around 10 years out of step with modern infosec practices. It’s 2022, people. I don’t want to - and shouldn’t have to - know any passwords. That’s what my keychain password manager is for. And, yes, I’m an NCSC-accredited infosec professional, training 1 million+ learners around the UK in this stuff.

*Edit - update after response from Barclays* Evidence, if it were even needed, of Barclays contempt towards their customers - a bland piece of beige PR, asking me to call a phone number, so they can then keep me on hold to add to my disappointment. You can’t make this stuff up - but thanks to Barclays, you don’t need to.

Unable to View Total Business Accoun

It is unfortunate and now increasingly frustrating that I, as the main business account holder of the Barclays card, am only able to see my transactions, but not able to see the complete business overview.
So this means that on the app I do not know what the current total balance is of our business credit card.
How can this be fixed? If I had a business bank account would I have a better app?
I enjoy the cash back, but would like to see how it is calculated and for what transactions.

The only app that doesn’t work

Poor app and poor Indian and foreign customer support who are clueless when it comes to helping you with issues with the app. They just want to get you off the call. You are calling to get the issue you have phoned to get resolved, but they keep asking you, before the issue you have called about has been resolved, ‘is there anything else we can help you with’. Also, because you can’t access the app, for a balance, you are forced to call these clueless people at Barclays, because Barclays keeps sending you messages to say you are close to going over your credit limit. Even though you are still nearly £500 to spend to go over the limit. Get your app fixed so I don’t have to talk to Indians.

Still not working and they tell you with no choice we are going to online statements

NatWest app. Excellent Lloyds app. Not bad HSBC app. Poor Barclays app. The worst I have ever Come across I use all the other apps for our business . I have to say Barclays telephone service , online desktop experience is the most clunky useless , uninformative , dis functional all round service I have ever experienced. Barclays management cease believing in your own publicly pull you finger out and sort out your digital service at present it qualifies for a negative score . A review by Dubster highlights problems last June , the comments still apply , the information the app gives you about spend is still utter garbage, what is wrong with Barclays this is an absolute joke .

Missing something

As a business card it should allow you to upload copy receipts so you can create expense reports, simple but missing. Also if you are company administrator it should allow you access to the whole business cards and users to see what has been spent, seems very basic unless there’s another app I’m unaware of
