App Loses Communication With Stat

This app works great until it doesn’t. Honestly don’t know if this a review of the app or the stat, but I would say at least once a quarter things look fine in the app but when I check the stat it’s a totally different temperature range. If that didn’t happen this would be mostly great. Would like them to add more schedule entries (max is 5), and maybe even another comfort profile (currently 4)

Not great

This app is pretty terrible compared to other thermostat apps. We had ecobee, which was awesome, but installed HVAC systems that worked with this app last year. Very limited functionality and not intuitive. Study ecobee (or any other thermostat app) and strive for better functionality. Wish we could go back to ecobee.

Could be much better

The app is ok, and feels responsive. However the user interface lacks true modern user experience design. For example, when you would like to check what equipment is running at the moment, it shouldn’t take more than one tap to find it.
There are also limitations which are frustrating. I can only set my humidity for heating up to 45. That seems fine since Ideally I want it around 40%. But several humidity sensors in my house all read around 35%, but the ion thermostat says it is 46%. So my humidifier never turns on, even though the humidity is around 35%
I would suggest the app designers surface the equipment status to the Home Screen

Bring back the old “matching” app

The original app that actually matched the ION thermostat was much smoother and easier to use. Why they decided to go the new route makes absolutely no sense. So instead of just needing to know one system setup(app and home thermostat exactly the same) you now need to know two completely different setups and controls. Dumbest “improvement” I’ve ever seen.

Not as good as my Google Nest

I owned an older furnace but I had purchased a Google Nest version 2 thermostat. The reporting I got from that was great. I could find out what my energy usage was any day, week, month or year I wanted to. They always emailed me my monthly usage and compared it to my previous same month from a year ago, and compared my energy usage from people in my area. I received many software updates from Google with the improvements. Unfortunately this older furnace failed. I purchased this top of the line Tempstar heating and cooling system. This system had this special wiring for this special expensive thermostat. Unfortunately I have been disappointed with the reporting from this thermostat and there isn’t any chance to go back to the Google Nest because of this strange non standard design… stuck with no recourse…

Bugs in system

Most of the bugs of the new app have been worked out for me (filter life, system connectivity). The problem that still needs worked out currently is app not changing temp on heat setting, works fine on cooling setting.

Update moved energy usage and now can’t find it

A recent update moved the energy usage screen and now it is almost impossible to find and you have to click through 3 different screens to see it plus you can’t see multiple units on the same screen so you have to repeat the process if you have more than one unit. Whoever did that needs to be counseled or terminated.

This app constantly logs itself out!

This app constantly logs itself out, and then prompts me to login again and again. As far as I’m concerned, it’s just about useless. As if that wasn’t bad enough, it is very bad at showing the current operating status of the system. Along with that, the interface doesn’t look anything like the controller itself, which then means learning, and remembering two interfaces, instead of just one. It’s super irritating to pay so much for a controller and then find the mobile app to be so bad.
The developer has now made it possible to log back in using biometric data, and that is admittedly an improvement over The need to manually log in, but the root issue is that the app keeps logging itself out. And that work around does nothing for the arcane user interface, nor for the slow syncing.

Ion home app vs my ion app

My ion presented a user interface that looked, felt, and acted exactly like the wall thermostat. It was the absolute perfect user interface that was intuitive with NO learning curve; once you knew where an item or function is located either in the app or on the thermostat you knew them both. I loved it. Ion home is a mistake. NOTHING is intuitive about it. Every time I try to find something like energy usage or daily/weekly settings or weather or just to bump the temperature up or down a degree I have to click on the dots and dashes and dig down through each menu structure until I find what I’m looking for and if I can’t find it I just have to go to the thermostat to do what used to be able to do from my phone or ipad. FRUSTRATING!!! How about taking some user input before bungling up something that worked perfectly for the users.

And how about developers spending a little time on the energy usage page’s accuracy since it no longer seems to be even close? Mine shows last year’s gas usage at zero.

HomeKit, Siri integrations lacking.

Why in the world does this app not do auto fill when you have the password and login set in password settings?! Still, no, HomeKit, no, Siri integration. No Apple Watch or Apple TV integration

How come I can no longer check for Ion firmware updates via the thermostat itself despite being WiFi connected?! Why is check for updates grayed-out?!
