Hello Strobs, Thank you so much for taking the time to review Fantasy Hike. We're delighted to hear from people who are enjoying the app. Happy hiking and good luck on your adventures.

So close to being perfect

This is my second time doing the journey and I love the app but I feel some features are hidden behind too much of a pay wall.

I feel like you should be able to pay for the extra characters separately as I’d happily pay £1.99 to be a dwarf like I paid for the unlimited distance coverage. Not a subscription.

Mr under hill is fine but the other characters are underwhelming. I feel anyone that manages 15k steps a day decimates them covering distance between me and them which leads to the all but impossible task trying to beat underhill and me feeling like underhill to the other 3

Hello Silverfern13, Thank you so much for the kind words and feedback. We are thrilled to hear from people who have been enjoying Fantasy Hike. If you feel the characters aren't giving you a run for your money you can always take the paddle bonus off and that should help making it more difficult. It is on our to-do list to take a look at other challengers but we are a very small company and our to-do list is long. Thank you so much! Happy hiking and good luck on your journey.

A walking app with a max distance per day

Huh. Never thought I’d see an app based around exercise that actively encourages you to either pay money or stop exercising.

Hello GordonFreeman911, We opted for a one-time purchase instead of ads. We're sorry to hear that doesn't work for you and hope you find something that does. Happy hiking.

Great motivation!

I used to walk regularly and found myself lacking motivation recently. I saw someone mention this online and didn’t have very high expectations - this is so much better than I was anticipating! The artwork is beautiful and I’ve only just started. I respond well to “gamifying” things so I expect this will work well for me. Still unsure what the “late morning” “elevenses” etc categories are for though. Looking forward to getting to Mt. Fire! 😅

Simple fun

From day to day I walk a lot, so to have an app that provides a fun story to your walking is great. I finished the journey for this app a little while ago now, my only question for the developers is, are you planning on making any more of these games but for different franchises?

Nice

As someone who both like walking and LOTR, it’s a nice app besides only being able to track a mile without paying £3.99. For me, that’s the only downside. As someone in their last yr of school (and having like no money) and just generally has to walk a lot just to get around the campus, it would be nice to i was able to track a bit longer than just a mile without paying (tho I completely understand needing a bit of money to continue supporting the app).

Hello JeanBeanMom, Thank you so much for reviewing Fantasy Hike. We're happy to hear you like it. The decision to have the 1,5K limit is that we wanted to avoid ads and a one-time purchase of the Unimited distance was a way we could accomplish that. Thank you for the kind words and the feedback! Happy hiking and good luck on your adventures.

So much potential!!!

First, let me say that I love the concept of this “game”. It definitely helps motivate me to walk more and I love the graphics and feel of it. But there is so much room for improvement and considering that you are asking users to consider a one time payment and even a subscription, you need to offer more! I paid the $4, that was no big deal, but the game would have to offer so much more for me to consider a subscription. 1. Have a more interactive map! Let me zoom in, see more details of where I am going, see where other characters are. 2. Provide more characters. All the characters are on a journey. Unless you are retired or hiking the Appalachian trail most of us are more sedentary with small bouts of walking when we can. I’m finding it hard to keep up with even the slowest character. This makes it hard to stay motivated. 3. For $4, for me to be able to connect to friends but then not be able to see where they are on the map or even their distance seems misleading. Offer more for $4, don’t force everyone into a subscription when not everyone can afford it. 4. Have more storylines about where I am and where I am going. Maybe more imagery to get me excited to get there. Just competing with the other characters isn’t enough. 5. Offer more achievements. I’m 17 miles in and haven’t gotten a single one since I left. Achievements help to motivate. This app could be so great if more work was put into it!!! Please keep building it!

Hello Aspen70$, Thank you for the feedback. We are a very small company but continue to work on making Fantasy Hike better. The subscription for now is to support the servers required for people to be able to connect and see each other on the map and we're not keen on ads so this felt like a good way to give people that option, the app is perfectly fine without the subscription of course. But we continue to work on making it better and we do appreciate the feedback and the enthusiasm. Thank you, happy hiking and good luck on your adventures.

I lost my purchase

Love this app but when I signed back into my account after deleting I lost the infinite distance thing I got before it was merged into a subscription. Pretty annoying. But anyway I love the app and it’s amazing woo hoo hoorah

Response from developer

Hello Finnish_Person, Thank you so much for taking the time to review Fantasy Hike. You have not lost your purchase. The unlimited distance comes automatically with the subscription but if you don't want to subscribe anymore then the Unlimited Distance is still active and you can move more than 1,5K a day. If that doesn't work for you make sure to "restore purchase" in the purchase tab in the app and if you have any questions or issues don't hesitate to contact our support, you can do so via the app as well! Happy hiking and great luck on your journey.

Can’t wait for the next quest

I have finished the whole journey and just started over. Hope to beat my own record. Dear developers, you have created an amazing app. Please, please, please create more quests! Short to long, I will be happy to get them all and walk them all. My best premium purchase in App Store 🔥

Hello Varagras, Thank you so much for taking the time to review Fantasy Hike. We're thrilled to hear you've been enjoying it and we hope, too, that there will be more adventures in our future! Happy hiking and good luck on your adventures.

Brilliant!

I’m absolutely loving this app. I’m not a big exerciser and I don’t walk long distances (however much I enjoy walking) but I love the Lord of the Rings. My husband saw this app and thought it would help me keep myself motivated to get fit again after having my daughter and he was right. I love checking how far I’ve walked each day and where I am on the map. The milestones are great and the comparison with where Frodo is can be quite hilarious. It didn’t take long for him to overtake me!

I’m currently projected to reach Mount Fire in two years time!! But hopefully can bring that down as my ability to walk further increases.

It was really easy to set up- it seems to just use the data that your health app is already collecting. And as long you have it in your pocket you don’t need to think about turning it on to ‘log’ a walk or anything, so you don’t have to worry about forgetting to do that.
