Perfect walking app

Even if you’re not a fan of Tolkien, you’ll love this walking app. It’s a great way to incentivise you to walk daily and farther. The graphics are very pretty and the story is engaging.

I wonder if the developers will be writing other adventures later on? It’s okay if not, I can just start this adventure over with a different Challenger, but it would be nice to explore more of “Middle Earth”. Fully recommended if you want to add some fantasy fun to your walks.

Hello Jettu Jagga, Thank you so much for taking the time to review Fantasy Hike. We're thrilled to hear from people who are enjoying the app and we hope, too, that there will be many adventures in our future! Happy hiking and good luck on your journey.

great app

i personally didnt mind paying the little bit extra, HOWEVER the only issue i have is i feel as though the slowest challenger Hairyfoot Potter is still really not that slow.. im on day 16 and already 11 km behind and ive walked 46.5 km, im not an incredibly active person as id like to be as im a student and dont have much time for anything else so maybe i should just remove the challenger aspect tbf since im not really looking for a challenge just curious about walking to mordor idk

Going to try the upgrade

I started this quest about a week ago, and using the free version, was only allowed to travel 1 mile per day. I was told my journey would end sometime in 2027. So the inexpensive upgrade seems worthwhile and I may revisit this review after using it. I’m a huge LotR fan and appreciate the work that went into the graphics, but the first 7 miles revealed little of interest. My tiny character is trekking over a landscape that so far is mostly unchanging.
I wish I could enlarge areas of the map to see what’s ahead. I hope that with the ability to log more travel, I can reduce Jon Snowflake’s 29 mile lead. Hoping for more interesting things down the road. Thanks to the developers.

this app changed my life

i’m on day 103 and i genuinely enjoy checking this app every day to see where i’m at. getting a new scene and prompt at the bottom fr brightens my day. i am intentional about getting my steps in & in turn walking has improved my well being in a real way. also sometimes i’ll hit the blinky a gaggle of times and just scroll all the way from the beginning to appreciate the art that went into making this app it does a really good job of capturing the whimsical lotr vibe. literally recommend this to everyone

Hello cydneythelizardwizard, Thank you so much for taking the time to review Fantasy Hike. We're absolutely delighted to hear you've been enjoying it and it's been motivating! Happy hiking and good luck on your journey.

Epic ! Bravo !

This novel idea of going on journeys that you have read about or seen in the movies to encourage activity simply delights me ! The imagination ignites real life physical motivation especially for those of us who do sit and read or play games and find the world somewhat boring. A walk to the store for me was also me leaving the shire on a Grand adventure. Expand on this please ! This is truly something that creates a spark inside of me to be more active . Not for everyone, but there are many like me that making our daily routines part of a storybook that gets us further as we literally go the distance is nothing short of a standing ovation !

486 Days to Mount Fire

At last, the ring, along with the “wrecked creature”, have been destroyed in the flames of Mount Fire! Sheesh… that’s the last time I accept jewelry from a grizzled old man in a robe….

I started this app on a whim and was delighted by the gorgeous graphics and Second Breakfast calculations. But to be honest, racing “Mr. Underhill” was quickly demoralizing; our diminutive chap was making more miles in a day than I sometimes might make in a week. I’ll grant that this was simply true(r) to the story, but I wished I had some more leisurely hairy-footed heroes to keep pace with. The addition of slower halflings definitely made me feel like less of a tree-person. Thanks to the developer for adding this ego-gentle feature. ;)

Hello Meechity, Thank you so much for taking the time to review Fantasy Hike! And congratulations on reaching the goal! We're delighted to hear you've been enjoying the app! Happy hiking and good luck on your future journeys!

Great motivator! Wish it worked with other fitness apps though

This app has been a great motivator to get up and moving, plus who doesn’t like to pretend they’re on a quest?

The only improvement I hope to see in future releases is comparability with other fitness tracking apps. I primarily use Garmin (since I have a Garmin watch) so a lot of the runs or hikes I do don’t transfer over unless I find a way to translate the data between apps. Maybe I’m overlooking a feature of the app? Either way, as a method of passively tracking your movement this has been such a fun and easy way to get up and motivate myself to increase my steps throughout the day.

Hello LILO 239, Thank you so much for taking the time to review Fantasy Hike. We're thrilled to hear you've been enjoying it. You can read about these things on our FAQ (http://forge7.net/fantasyhike/support.html) but we aim to make it compatible in the future. We're a very small company and our to-do list is currently quite long though! Thank you for your support and good luck on your journey!

It didn’t track my steps correctly :(

I was wondering why I was moving so slow as I’m quite active so I downloaded another tracking app, and while fantasy hike said I was doing an average of 1000 steps, this other app said I was doing 2800 on average. I love the idea and it really motivated me in the first few weeks but I wish it was accurate :(

Hello emajajhshdhsjjsjshsyxgxhxu, Are you using the full version or the free version? Because the free version is meant mainly for people to see if the app is something for them and tops at 1,5K - which obviously isn't a case in the full version. Please send a log to our team otherwise so we can localize the problem. Thank you for reviewing and happy hiking!

A lot of fun, it’s just missing someone

I downloaded this app to try to get me out of the house more, and even though I’m currently set to reach mount fire sometime in 2028, I’m still having fun with it! The only thing I think is missing is that we don’t have any companions. I want a Samwise on the trip with me! He doesn’t have to do anything, I just feel bad every time I look at the screen and see the outline of my little guy walking alone. The original trek only succeeded because Frodo had friends, after all. I’d also love to see what gloriously off-brand name you guys would come up with for him. I love getting notifications and seeing where I’m headed as I walk though. Thanks for the fun app!

Fun app, potential for more!

Lovely and motivating app!
It would be lovely if when you finally arrive at Mount Fire and tick that box, to be able to go on other fantasy walks–no matter if they’re canon to the source material or not (e.g. from Winterfell/the Wall to King’s landing in Westeros, along the yellow brick road in Oz, around certain areas or one long route through every area in Elden Ring, through the map in Earthsea, etc.). Something like this alongside a profile where you can share which treks you have completed, etc. with others. It would certainly require a lot of research and programming, but it would be a nice thing to look forward to.
Additionally, having the ability to compete with/against friends would be swell!
