Glitchy

I love this app for the community it fosters. I’ve been having a lot of trouble lately with the app freezing when logging in and navigating between different screens.

Glitchy app

I love the Buy Nothing concept and i use it frequently. The app, however, is glitchy and unreliable. Doesn’t always load, frequently won’t load photos, and, now that they’ve added the disastrous “global” aspect, doesn’t stay local. I’ll tap “Local only” and still see posts from across the country. (Aside from the app not working all that well, I thought the foundation of the concept was that it’s hyperlocal. So why would I want to see posts from 3000 miles away???

Fix the glitches

I am constantly having to close the app after opening it because it won’t load. This happens to me at least 50% of the time. And even though I have all of my notifications turned on, this app does not send them to me. Not sure why. other than that, most everyone I’ve encountered on this app are so kind.

Fantastic concept worth supporting, app needs work

I love buy nothing, whenever I’m declutterring I try to move as much stuff through it as I can instead of just trashing or unloading to goodwill. I will continue to use it and continue to support as much as I can. Obviously this is not a for-profit business and it’s expensive and time-consuming to develop a well-functioning app, but I wish the devs would SUPER PRIORITIZE fixing the messaging system. Please add a notification sound!! Please make the background process work better so notifications come through consistently!! The number of times I’ve kept people waiting because they were outside my apartment building and I didn’t realize is frustrating, and it’s always because I didn’t get notified of their message

Notifications are no longer reliable

I used to like this app a lot more. Now the notifications are unreliable at best, and the new “global” posts are pointless. Thank heavens you can now filter to “local only” but you seem to have to set that preference every time to open the app! I don’t see how giving things globally and then having to ship them across the country makes the world a better place.

Good idea, bad app

The app has many bugs, it always logs me out and then refuses to accept my password even if I reset it. I have to wait for it to glitch to get back in. But I give away things very quickly and love the idea!

Slightly jenky, excellent vibes

The app itself is slightly jenky, but the people are fantastic and everyone is just trying to share back into the community. The app will get there. The people are the foundation and that part is solid.

Amazing App!

This app is great for getting rid of things in my house that no longer serve any purpose. I feel much more comfortable knowing that:

1.) All these things are free. People give and receive on a basis of pure want and need. Nothing is motivated by profit.

2.) Nothing is being wasted. I’m not donating clothes to goodwill for them to exploit disabled people for profit, these things aren’t going to a dump… everything will continue to be used until the absolute last moment!

I would appreciate if the messaging and commenting system were a bit snappier. I get stuck on random loading bits sometimes that are annoying. The inbox also glitches out and shows other people’s messages together.

Other than that, I want more people to use this!

Still has many bugs

Its a great app, but it is very slow and is always crashing and logging me out. Its very frustrating. I have missed messages or comments from people because this app has logged me out.

App has become increasingly more frustrating to use

For whatever reason it takes forever to load. I stay logged in, but more often than not the log in screen comes up on opening the app and will just hang there until I close it out of frustration.
More recently, it takes about 3 attempts for any posts or replies to messages/comments to actually go through. I’ll type something up and press send or post, only for what I’ve typed out to disappear.

I’m sticking to the free section of Craigslist, and using trash nothing and freecycle for posting from now on.
