  • Changed my perspective

I have AuDHD I struggle with social media addiction. Especially when I’m under stimulated or anxious about a task. I heard about this app from AyannaStood on TikTok and I thought it would be any different from the screen time apps I already have but I was wrong.

This app helps me be more mindful about how I use my restricted apps. You are allowed three opens so I think twice about opening the app mindlessly only to find myself doom scrolling hours later.

My goal is to be more present and now I see how much control I have over my time when I’m present outside of my phone. I hope to share with my followers soon.

  • It works…but only if you want it to

This app is the sole reason my screen time has been reduced 40-50%

You set which apps you’d like to restrict. The restricted apps have the following limitations: amount of time the app can be launched (you can go over this limit) and how much time you can spend per session (4 options).

Within each session you are prompted to open the breathe screen via notification. Once you’ve gone through the breathing exercise you can then pick the amount of time you’d like to keep the session open for launched app.

After the time limit has lapsed the app will automatically be dismissed.

The biggest deterrent to using the app becomes going through the breathing exercise. You really think through if the app is worth opening. By the time your done with the exercise sometimes you don’t even want to use the app.

You can very easily disable ClearSpace and use your apps freely, so this app works, but only if you let it.

  • Downloaded and deleted quick

Idea is great but there was so many data collection questions and no indication that it was for a cost. Deleted it within 5 minutes. You know you can make an app to just help people right lol not everything needs to be your path to being Zuckerberg. Why would I pay $9 a month for this?
  • You’re missing out on life

Get off your freakin phone. This app works, download now 🍐🍋🍋🍋🍏🤲🏽
  • Needs to change it up

If it had different quotes and also different things or colors pop up on the screen then I’d give it more stars. It’s so repetitive it gets to the point where it’s the same as apple’s built in blocker. You know, the one you end up skipping because all you need to do is press a button. It’s just the same quotes and the same screen every time. Completely loses its purpose and ability to help. There should be a challenge or a questions on self reflection or something else that pops up. That would make the app work. The way it is right now it loses effectiveness after a few months.

  • Too expensive

It’s great it works but it’s way too expensive
  • Really really recommend

I downloaded this app in hope of reducing my screen time and reliance on scrolling through social media. I have tried other apps or even timers/limits built within the app with no success. I have always found ways to get back into the app and scroll for another couple of hours. But somehow this app has been the winner for me. I set 4, 10 minute sessions of my social media apps which is still plenty of time to disassociate from my day-to-day life but still feel updated and involved in social media. Overtime I have found that sometimes I don’t even use up all of my allotted time on the apps because A. I have become less reliant, B. I become bored on the app more easily and C. I have been in a situation where I cannot wait for the breathing exercise and quote to go through to get into the app. Overall, this app as been a life, social, brain, and time-saver for me. I always recommend it and will continue to as well.

  • Very Helpful, One Minor Change Needed

This app has been incredibly helpful in limiting the time I spend on my phone. The streak tracker is useful in making you want to keep it up as well as how it can inform a friend if you break your limit. The only problem I’m having so far is that if I reduce the amount of times I can open an app, it breaks my streak. For example, I was finding I didn’t need to open Instagram 3 times a day because 2 was enough. When I reduced it, the app said I broke my streak because yesterday I opened it 3 times. But my limit was different for yesterday so it shouldn’t affect the streak. This would be a great change to include because I think the point of the app is that it slowly reduced how much you want to be on your phone anyways and that’s what I felt it was doing for me but I’m not rewarded in doing so.

  • Very good app

I downloaded this app after seeing it on instagram, ironically to control my instagram usage. I would open up instagram anytime I had a few minutes of free time, or get stuck scrolling through reels for a couple of hours. I’ve tried blocking apps like this before, but it was easy to just turn the blocker off, which isn’t the case here. What I really like about clear space is that I can choose the amount of time to spend on the blocked app, and it forces me to pause and think for a second before opening it. Clear space has helped me use instagram with intention, rather than just opening it to waste a bunch of time. But what caused me to write this review was the response time of the developer (or founder? Not sure). I was experiencing a problem with the app and sent a message about the error, and received a response about it within an hour, with a link to update the app. The version history on the App Store said the update was posted “just now”… as in the creators behind this app saw my problem and immediately fixed it. I was very impressed! If I had more apps I needed to block, I would definitely get the membership.

  • So slay

This app is amazing! Really helped me get out of the bad habit of doom scrolling 24/7. It held me accountable for the times I promised myself by giving me a timer.
It also took a lot of effort to open the app because of the notification, breathing pattern, and quote, so I found that I stopped mindlessly clicking the restricted social media app when I was bored. I now use TikTok less than 5 times a day which is amazing!
