  • Great choice for broad editing capability

Best alternative to more expensive and complicated programs. Yet extremely capable. Choice of outright purchase or subscription, depending on your preferences.
  • Great App

Perfect app for me - integrates with Photos on my iMac but allows me to shoot lossless RAW on my Fujifilm cameras not yet supported by Apple. Best of both worlds across Mac and iOS platforms. I have used Apple Aperture then RAW Power which was the predecessor to Nitro by same developer and this is best by far.

  • This is the one

I recently migrated my photo collection to Apple Photos and have tried several third party apps for RAW file post-processing, and my search has ended with Nitro. This is the only app I’ve found that not only leverages the RAW processing engine provided by Apple, but exposes controls for it, enabling me to work around an issue with some of my DNG files that I haven’t been able to work around in any other app. It’s no wonder; the development team has extensive experience at Apple developing that RAW engine! I have also found support to be responsive, friendly, and expert. And I love that both recurring and lifetime purchase options are on offer.

  • Superb !!!

    Superb !!!
  • Powerful and a pleasure to use (Nitro for iPhone and + iPad)

I’m one of those weird people who doesn’t upgrade their phone every year or few. So I have a nice real camera and an M1 iPad Air, but my phone is an iPhone 8.

And Nitro works smooth as silk on it, unlike Photomator, which says the phone isn’t capable of processing the 33 Megapixel images from my camera. Ummm, the phone is fine.

What else… I love that I can continue edits started on the phone, with the iPad (and a Mac if I get one). All my Ratings and Flags and such are synched too.

RAW decoding is more capable than any other implementation I’ve seen, and both Nitro and the earlier RAW Power app have support for new model cameras long before Apple or anyone else does.

The Clone tool makes short work of removing dust spots which sometimes happen with interchangeable lens cameras.

Masking is sweet, so I can for example subtly lift the shadows around people’e eyes when the harsh overhead sun is unavoidable, or brighten the foreground when there’s a spectacular sunset on the horizon.

In the end, I can bring the best out of my photos, and have fun doing so with a responsive app that’s a joy to use.

It turns out that iPad and iPhone reviews are combined on the App Store, so here's what I have to say additionally about the iPad version:

    Gorgeous results

Sometimes I may need an 800-pound pixel-pushing gorilla of an image editor, but --no exaggeration-- easily 90% + of the time, I don't.

That's why Nitro is a joy. It's intuitive, a pleasure to use, powerful, doesn't create massive working files or need my photos to be in a proprietary "catalog" or "library."

    And it's *fast*.

All that stuff it says in the description is true.

All I need to know is that I can make my photos the best they can be, in minutes.

  • Aperture reinvented.

A modern take on Apples Aperture for Mac and iOS.
  • Gem of an app. Elegant, simple, and powerful.

The iOS and iPadOS versions of Nitro are astonishingly good apps. And work seamlessly with the macOS app.

Nitro brings the joy back to making photos

This is a gem of an app.

It's like haiku. Simple, yet full of riches and, immense power which wait to be discovered.

As someone who has used Aperture, Lightroom, and Capture One, this app spoke to me. It has everything I would want as an average person with a camera (and a phone!).

I love the UI of the iOS / iPadOS apps. That means a lot to me. Lovely modern design and UI which just clicked for me. The developer has taken a lot of care to make sure each app works and feels natural to its platform while also making it super simple and seamless for users to switch between any three.

The seamless way to connect with Files app and Photos app is one the the biggest features.

    And, it just works!

The cost (buy or subscribe) includes an upcoming iPad and iPhone version which is an amazing deal. Too good to be true.

I am subscribing as I want to support this app

Coming from the developer of RAW Power - an app I own and use - I know the developer is going to support Nitro in a similar, responsive way, while taking it to a totally new level.

Here's what I love about Nitro for iOS/iPadOS:

    1. The best of both worlds: Photos on iOS, and Files on iOS. Nitro works effortlessly in both worlds.

    2. I particularly love that I can connect an external drive to my iPad, work on my photos and then take that drive to my Mac and continue working! Thanks to XMP sidecar feature.

    2. Terrific RAW support.

    3. Professional, modern editing controls.

    4. Masks and brushes for those who want that.

    5. Presets, LUTS, Film simulations, and so much more.

    5. EXIF, image comparison, and other nerdy details.

Most of all it's great fun to use and brings the joy back into making and sharing photographs.

I recommend this without any reservations.

  • A Great Photo Editing App!

Still learning my way around this new photo editing app, Nitro, coming from Gentlemen Coders first photo editing app, RAW Power. Really like Nitro so far, though I'm not a power user, but I know my way the basic fairly well. And, as I know from, RAW Power, Nitro will only get better going forward, and it's already greatt!

  • Wonderful photo editor and manager

Nitro is a delight to use, powerful yet fun. As well as the superb editing features - I especially like the way curves and levels are done - it's an excellent tool to organise your photos. As you'd expect from the developer of Raw Power, it's fully integrated with the Apple system. Highly recommended.

  • The Aperture replacement I've been waiting for

I've used Lightroom for years but I always missed Aperture's speed and user interface. Nitro is a great spiritual successor to Aperture and, unlike Lightroom, lets you work off a NAS. Excellent product
