  • Outwardly Limited but very powerful inside

Do you really need 32 layers to edit an Image? Then PS is your pony, this horse is just as fast, more intutive and gets you to your destination faster.
  • Very powerful app and amazing support

This is going from strength to strength. I think I've finally found a workable, and extremely cheap and privacy focussed, alternative to Lightroom as a DAM photo manager/raw editor.

Additionally the developer is super responsive to emails asking for help and to bug reports, and clearly extremely knowledgeable and passionate. Genuinely never been happier to part with my money in exchange for software.

  • Not capable, all about the benjis

Small developers are now like the guys that start a pressure washing business and expect to be millionares over night. An we are here to make them millionares. In this case, no limited free version, asking for money commitment before I get to see the app. No I don't want a free trial before I even see the app and its user interface.

    Developer Response

I am sorry you are unhappy with the purchasing process. However, I must correct your statement about the free version. Nitro's free trial has no "money commitment." You can use the app for free, fully unlocked for seven days. Unlike other apps, you don't have to sign up for a subscription, and you don't have to pay anything up front. Customers have let me know how much they prefer this way of trying out an app because there is no obligation, no cost and nothing to cancel. For this trial, Apple requires that you "purchase" the trail for $0.00. I hope you will give the app a try to see what it can do. If you need help please email me at support@gentlemencoders.com.
  • Good start

Good start to another welcome raw editing app on the mac at an affordable price point for us Hobbyists - Not quite good enough IMHO to replace my daily editor (the repair tool isn't useable for instance) but will keep a close eye and buy if it continues to improve at current rate
  • Excellent Package

A great evolution from Raw Power. I really like Nitro, such excellent integration with Apple Photos. The app works extremely well on iPad and iPhone, offering a very thorough set of features. I love the Smart Selection of subject or background. This is sophisticated software that should rapidly become the standard editing package on iPhone and iPad. I’ve already gone for the lifetime purchase option.

  • Just what was needed!

I am finding this a great addition to Nitro on the Mac. I can be away, taking photos (in RAW), do some initial editing on my iPad. I do this using an attached SSD for storage. When I get home to my desktop Mac, it is as simple as plugging the SSD into the Mac and finalising my edits.

There’s lots of good things about Nitro Photo on iOS, thoroughly recommended.

  • Powerful and Full Featured Editor for iOS

Amazing full featured image editor and a real bargain considering that you get the Mac version too with purchase. All the features are present for the iPhone version - a great solution for those using the iPhone cameras for serious work - and it supports all the “big” camera raw formats too. Great support from Nik.

  • Keyboard navigation / folder thumbs

There's no icon / visual / thumbnail on the right gallery browser panel for sub folders at all.

That paired with no keyboard (up down left right) for folder navigation if in the left folder tree panel makes this a complete no go for power users.

Was looking to try and move away from bridge / iphoto combo. But this is not it. Worrying such basic functionality isn't there.

Very pretty though and good UI. Just missing some basic power user and UX fundamentals.

    Developer Response

There is indeed a control to show subfolders. It is on the bottom left. When arrowing, the app moves the focus to the grid, rather than keeping it on the folder panel. I can see that sometimes people might want to use the arrow keys to move up and down the hierarchy, but the app moves focus to the grid so you can immediately use the arrows to navigate.
  • Terrific!

Terrific new offering that expands and improves upon the developer’s outstanding RawPower app. Developer was at Apple for years and widely credited with much of Aperture’s success. This is a must try app for mobile photo editing.
  • Now for iOS!

I highly recommend this powerful photo editor brought to you by the good people at Gentlemen Coders. And it is now available for your iOS devices after being initially released on the Mac. Check it out!
