  • Lasso tool?!?! 💀💀💀

I've been useing procreate for years and I've animated gifs ect in it.
So I was exited to use procreate dreams, and I started animating a thing, went looking for the lasso tool, not there. I do a lot of tweening ect on apps like flipaclip and the original procreate, but you can't do it on dreams because of the lack of lasso tool, And drawing in the app feels more clunky then normal procreate, and the tool to make perfect shapes is gone for some reason. Hopefully it's updated soon to be more like the original procreate, but for now it's not really worth the price in my opinion

  • Please fix I can’t export

Fix it please what’s the point of I buying this app and not letting me export my video huh?
  • Stay away from this WIP app

A dream, maybe one day but not today xD What is that Dreams?
No lasso tool ( "in the future" you said. Like next month or more like " it will be a Christmas gift for one year of waiting"? ), no frames merging, you can’t move frames without grouping them, you can’t retime your frames without having a gap between each one ( it’s a long moment of introspection to fix 30 gaps), i can’t see the onion skin of all my tracks and the best, the lines of some tracks are surprisingly all blurry etc etc…….so I give up on it !

    See you on Christmas !
And good luck to the team ! :)

  • Practice makes perfect!

This app is missing a lot of things that procreate has. BUT. If you combine the two, then you have literally everything to make amazing animations! I have been using it for a while now and to begin with it can be a bit complicated to understand. It takes a bit of trial and error but once you get the hang of it it’s pretty smooth sailing. I find adding details etc a lot easier on procreate so I do all of that stuff over on there and then transfer it over to dreams. It’s one of the best animation apps out there and I think if you give it a chance you’ll like it too.

  • Hard to use Lacks basic tools

I wouldn’t recommend buying for awhile I’ll be honest try another cheaper program while you wait for this to get better
  • I use this for game design

This application is great if you know procreate already. You are going to feel very comfortable in Dreams. I have had issues with creating sprite sheets for animation in games with the current apps that are available. Aseprite is great when I’m on my Mac, but I draw mostly on my iPad and the timeline interface and draw mode in Dreams is so simple and I understand it.

I found a way to create a tiny canvas so I have created some pixel art animation in Dreams. As of now, I will say that the animation is better than other apps I’ve used for pixel art animation. The visual style of the timeline is way better that Asesprite.

This app has challenged me to use my hand drawn art for my games. Something that I have never thought about before. Game designers will love this app! Please let us create and save custom canvas sizes. I also would like to see that straight line or basic shape tool from Procreate. You know, like if I draw a line and hold it for a second, the line will straighten out? I would like to see more of that in this app. It will be helpful for someone like me who would prefer to start and end all their animation needs with this one app.

  • Pretty good, could be a lot better

I have so far enjoyed using this app and I will continue to use it (after all, I did pay money for it), but here's what I would need to make my work go a LOT smoother and give this five stars

    - A SELECTION TOOL. Like seriously why is this not there?! I need to be able to move a piece of my drawing without completely redrawing it just because it's a bit too small or too far to the left or something

-Like how I can move the timeline down into the flip book for drawing, I need it the other way around. Please make it so that I'm able to make the timeline take up the full screen. It would make it a lot easier to move around the pieces.

-being able to edit and import brushes

-ALPHA LOCK FOR LAYERS. Another incredibly useful function that is just... Not there for some reason.

-this is less important to me but those tools like Liquify, Noise, and Glitch that Procreate has.

-also less crucial but I want the app to be able to tell me how long I've worked on a project, like how Procreate has it in Canvas Information

There's some more as well but I'll update this later when I remember. If any of these functions exist already, please tell me where to find them.

  • Very Good

Pro create Dreams is an amazing app However there is a wee bit of bug fixing to do. But even with these bugs I don’t understand why it has such rubbish reviews when it’s a pretty awesome animation app even with all of these bugs. (Probably should make a tutorial though cuz a bunch of people will get very stuck on where all the settings and stuff is)

  • Great Potential, but missing a few key features.

Ok so, I’ve been using Procreate since 2017 (when i first got my iPad Pro, I now use the IPad Pro Gen 3, and the Apple Pencil G2) and I’ve gotten procreate Dreams day one. I’ve been super excited to get this app because I’ve been wanting to get into animation, and I’ve been wanting a proper procreate animation version for awhile now. I’m loving what I’ve seen so far, But…it’s missing a fe vital features. First off, Why can’t i make a perfect circle or a straight line? In procreate you can just hold down the pencil after drawing a circle or a line, and it would fix it for you. There’s like No stabilizer witch is unacceptable! Secondly (this is something I’ve heard others talk about) Not being able to edit layers, the onion skin not showing up properly (IE, it’s barely visible or it’s just not there at all), and no Transforming. There’s probably other stuff that I’m missing, but I don’t know. You guys got a great app with great potential, but…Again, it’s missing a few vital features that we need.
So…please, fix this ASAP. Also choosing your frame rate and resolution would be nice, i also have an idea to add a mode for storyboarding, I’d love to be able to do that (You can even add the drawing guide in, and give it extra stuff).

Hey there - thank you for the review of Procreate Dreams. We are keen to add QuickShape, but it will be a little while yet. Stabilisation is available in Movie Settings > Pressure & Smoothing, and we might be able to help you with the Onion Skin issues if you send some footage of the problem to us via procre.at/support. Cheers for the feedback! Check out our roadmap for the app if you're interested: procre.at/roadmap
  • Wait & avoid headaches

I LOVE Procreate, it’s the only way I draw. Dreams feels like the younger sibling that thinks it’s at the same level but couldn’t be farther away. I’ve seen a lot of promises from the Procreate team for things like lasso & transform, but no actual estimates on how long we have to wait for them. Be prepared to dedicate a lot of time to researching how the UI works as there’s no clear layout or menu like Procreate has. It slows down the process constantly to have to hunt down the most basic features and there’s an expectation that users will somehow automatically know what buttons are and how to use features effectively. For example, you’d expect to select and drag to change clip length, but unless you also hold a finger on the screen it won’t work. And yet I only know that because I spent 45 minutes on google to find that information.

The only streamlined way to use this for hand drawn animation at the moment is to make every single drawing in Procreate, import them individually into Dreams, and slog through getting each frame to go where you want it. Hopefully the Procreate team will at the very least update the roadmap that hasn’t changed in 6 months so we can plan projects accordingly. If you’re on the fence, go with another program for the time being and watch for eventual updates that make this app something that supports artists in the way the original does.
