Has issues that need fixing
I understand it just launched so it’s bound to have some issues but it currently doesn’t feel adequate. It crashes for me every couple of minutes and it has a variety of basic features missing, most importantly a lasso and transformation tool. UI could also be utilised better, I’m a fan of procreate’s simple and intuitive UI but this one is a bit too barren for an animation app. There aren’t even undo/redo buttons and when i tap my apple pencil to switch to eraser it doesn’t work like in procreate. Some users also mentioned how they would appreciate left handedness support, among other features. However, as soon as these issues are fixed I will change my rating to 5 stars because it’s a godsend to see such a good app so generously priced, and a one time purchase at that, while other developers use a subscription based model. Procreate dreams has the potential to become the best animation app out there and I believe it will be, but perhaps it was launched too soon because at its current state it’s quite underwhelming. We have updated the app a few times since you wrote, and we’re working hard on our next big releases, which you can check out here: procre.at/roadmap. The animation program is pretty good! But I’ll get straight to this point, here are a few things that I hope the developers add or fix. 1. Lasso tool and selection tool, that’s kind of self explanatory 2. Sometimes the app crashes all of a sudden, but that is fine since this app is new and I kind of expected this. But I hope this will be fixed soon! 3. When making a new layer in a frame the layers do not move up and down, hence making it frustrating to even use the layers in the first place. These are the major ones that should be prioritized, but I also have a few suggestions! 1. Liquifying tool: I use this frequently in animation, it helps a lot for me! (I don’t know about other people though but I know there are people like me who like to use liquifying to the advantage. If not the lasso tool and selection tool is good enough for me!) 2. Importing brushes from procreate: I want to do a pixel animation style in procreate dreams but I am unable to import the brushes like I hoped to do. So although there are all the brushes that come in default as procreate does, I am stuck with using them. Other than that pretty good! The Selections as well as Transform tools are being worked on right now and we will be sure to make them available as soon as possible. Arranging layers and bringing brushes from Procreate into Procreate Dreams (via Drag & Drop) are viable in the current version of Procreate Dreams. If you are having issues doing so, please first make sure your iPadOS and Procreate Dreams are fully up-to-date. Then, run a force restart on your iPad following the steps in procre.at/restart and see if that helps. This process hopefully would help with the crashing behaviour you are experiencing as well. In case any of these issues persist, be sure to let us know via our Support Form procre.at/support and we will investigate it further for you. I was really looking forward to animating with this and a lot of its features are impressive. I understand that not all drawing features can be implemented on the app. However getting started I already have hurdles such as not being able to merge layers (not talking about grouping them) or flatten 2 different drawings or even selecting objects to move them around in the same drawings and copy/pasting into similar layers. I would like just these basic features to be added. It’s already too much work to flip my drawings just to check its symmetry but by just having the ability to duplicate and merge 2 drawings, I wouldn’t have to animate by half just to make a symmetrical movement. It’s the best example I can give where I was planning to use it. I just ask for these minor features. All in all I look forward to animating with your app.Show lessWolfsloth

I really wanted to give the devs the opportunity to make good on their promise of adding the lasso and shape tool in early 2024. Well we’re now in May and nothing has changed. Honestly I’m gobsmacked they launched this app with things like a transform record feature and all the extras that no one really uses, but didn’t make a lasso tool a priority? For an app that was supposed to target hand drawn animators, it truly lacks the absolute basic minimum requirements for drawing software. Lasso and shape tools should have been in there from day 1. Palm rejection is still sketchy at best, and the undo feature is an absolute nightmare sometimes, it will undo individual strokes maybe 5 times before it just starts undoing 20 or more strokes in one big step and there’s nothing I can do to change it. I’ve tried every setting, I’ve read the manuals. Overall, very disappointed. I bought this app on day 1 trusting procreate to make a really solid app, and unfortunately they haven’t delivered yet. Hi Loveliiiiiii - We are sorry to hear Procreate Dreams didn't meet your expectations so far. As it is currently on its version 1, we are constantly working to improve all of its features. Regarding your reported problem with the app deleting too many steps, there are two settings that can help you improve this behaviour: 1. You can initially verify if the Rapid Undo Delay is set too low. To correct this, while in your Procreate Dreams project tap on the file name at the top left of your Timeline > select Preferences from the left panel > move the Rapid Undo Delay slider to a middle point like 0.6, or fully disable it if you prefer by leaving it at total zero. This way it should perform the Undo steps slower, or ignoring the long tap with two fingers if you set it to zero. 2. While in the project Preferences, below the Rapid undo delay slider you will see the option of 'Stored unto steps' > you can try increasing its value or putting it as unlimited so you can have a larger Undo History available, to include individual strokes instead of large sections of progress once it is changed. - Additionally, we would like to let you know that we are currently working on the Selections tool with lasso-like options, same as QuickShape, for a future update of Procreate Dreams. The app has so much potential and I really love Procreate just PLEASE bring the features that Procreate has like the hold to shape and all the other editing features PLEASE MY CIRCLES ARE NOT CIRCLING 😭 and color picker no? 🥲 Please just bring the Adjustment section, Shape section, Select section and the brush hold to shape 🫶 ALSO THE UNDO SECTION I ALWAYS USE THOSE BUTTONS ON PROCREATE I NEVER TAP 😭 Also whilst I’m here I’d also like to mention that a great improvement for both Procreate and Dreams is other editing features such as Glow, Stroke Weight, Lighting, Tracking and maybe 3D drawing since there aren’t many apps that let you do that. I believe in you. We have improvements and new features planned for Procreate Dreams including QuickShape. Brush Studio however, is a feature made for Procreate and is currently not planned to be included in Procreate Dreams. You might be happy to know though that the Undo and Redo buttons can be enabled in Procreate Dreams by tapping your Movie title> preferences> toggle on Undo and Redo buttons 💜New to animation
I’m very very new to animation and so I am aware I will be going through a steep learning curve. I had tied a couple of different apps prior to PD, and this seems easy so far. However, I have watched a number of tutorials, and I notice through googling why certain features aren’t available that there are some device limitations. I have an iPad 7th gen, and when setting up a new project I am limited to HD and 720p. Most annoying so far, is onion skinning being limited to 4 frames. I am wondering what else there will be as I learn more about using the program.
I also really wish the feature on Procreate with lines and shapes snapping into shape was available. As well as the grid, as I have a photography background composition is important to me and I so wish it was there. I got PD as I wanted to focus more on animation but I am wondering if procreate was the way to go.
Overall, I am enjoying the learning process so far. It seems like a very straight forward app. But I echo the sentiments of others saying it seems like there are some flaws and important features missing. Is there any chance that the issues I have mentioned will be fixed in a future update?Show lessMichelle Pip

Your onion skins can be adjusted to include more frames by tapping on the Timecode > Edit Onion skin > increase the Frames slider. I absolutely LOVE procreate dream, I only got it a few days ago, but I’m already in love with it! I love how smooth the animations are, and I love how I almost is the same as procreate! I only have 2 requests that would make this app a whole bit better! 1: The Undo and Redo Button. This button in Procreate made it SO MUCH EASIER to get rid of mistakes, and in Procreate Dream, I can’t seem to find it! Those buttons will make a huge difference, and it would be my top request. 2: Custom Brushes I would love to see the custom brushes in procreate dream, since it’s very hard to erase with the brushes you have already! It would also keep it plain and simple if your aim is to draw simply without those special brushes. Thank you for reading, and I hope you will take these ideas and put them into Procreate Dream! I am having problems with the app, according to when I erase, it does this pixelation and then glitches, and the when I flip through my flip book, it does the glitch thing throughout the slides.

This is a truly amazing app, especially for the cost. I’m an older (40s) designer/Illustrator and I’ve never really taken the time (since flash) to learn to use animation in my work. Now, suddenly I have something new I can offer, and I basically learned to do it in a couple of days. The people who make Procreate, and now this, are truly gifted and thoughtful software designers/artists. That said, The app has a few things that I really hope they’re working on, because it could make Dreams magical. One, you’ve gotta be able to move items/pixels on a layer around, and select and move parts of your drawing around, like with the lasso tool in Procreate. The app needs a move tool like in procreate that lets you move whatever you’ve selected on a layer. In fact, Dreams would be perfect if it just had that entire left menu in the top bar of the drawing stage (wrench, magic wand, selecty ribbon thing and move tool.) Buy this app, learn it (with the expectation that it’s not yet perfect) because if they treat it with the love they’ve treated Procreate, it’s honestly going to be a technological wonder.Show lessGabrielAugustine

Was here to see if theres an update and saw all the recent 3 star ratings. Guys, are you serious? A passionate team created something that allows us to sit on a couch and animate without having to break our back sitting at a desk like we did for the past 100+ years … yes some things are not here yet, but good things come to those who wait, right? We've a tool that plays in realtime and allows you to be truly creative without having to wait for stuff to render or be limited to a set canvas space or use only a few brushes.. Procreate has built an amazing application and the whole team behind it should be really proud. Please allow multiple keyframes on grouped elements to be adjusted at the same time soon but no rush, you did an amazing job!Show lessLicorLicor
