  • Great Product, Awesome Support

I’ve been using this software daily. It’s very useful in my situation. I encountered a technical issue that caused a data loss. But not like my previous experience with other developers that it would take days or even weeks for them to respond, Cloaked’s support team contacted me in 20 minutes. After I reported the issue I saw a couple of app updates published within days, and I don’t see the issue happening again. I think it has been fixed. I recommend this app, for its privacy-focused features and the very helpful support team.

  • Terrible deployment (at least in the uk)

When I initially found about cloaked, it was an instant sell for me. I am already using different VOIP numbers to compartmentalise my digital life and using sudo identities and emails to minimise the risk of a data breach combined with other available popular tools aimed for privacy. I gave it a go right away, and I even tried subscribing 5min in since it was 50% off, however bugs started popping up right from the very beginning. The service didn’t want to accept my card payment, even though I had tried different methods, turning off the VPN, tried both website and mobile app, nothing worked. The app doesn’t even load the prices. I thought alright no problem, they are providing 14days free trial without even giving them your card number, LETS TRY IT. More bugs, when trying to set up a number for forwarding, it didn’t recognise the numbers, ANY number doesn’t matter how many alterations I’ve tried, or if they were from the USA or the UK. I’ve tried everything in my power, only thing it worked I was able to receive messages to the cloaked number but no to send or to reply back, it couldn’t receive calls either, “this number is not available for calls right now” every time I tried calling the cloaked number, then calling from cloaked required to confirm a non-voip number for forwarding and again back to the same issue, the service didn’t recognise the number. I’ve really tried because I was genuinely excited but I think the product it’s in its infancy and not ready for UK yet. When I went to my profile on the app my account had a USA flag and they also required me to confirm a USA number for forwarding, I had a VOIP one and of course they don’t accept it. Now, I have scheduled my account for deletion as it doesn’t provide me with any value. There are better established services out there, although no too many who is able to provide sudo numbers this easily (in theory) because in practice I have been proven wrong. I wish them luck as is a moving force in the privacy space and if they are able to reach out to me willing to talk about improvements and feedback I’m up for it. One last thing, they privacy policy it’s a bit of hit and miss, they don’t seem to give the user the reassurance that their data is 100% safe and that in the case of having to comply with the law they are more than willing to cooperate with authorities, they don’t seem to want to portray themselves as siding with their users but with stakeholders and government authorities. Don’t be surprise if their end goal is to be bought out by a bigger corporation, as they even state in the scenario of being bought out the user data will be transferred over and some of the information might be shared with the firm, also the fact that they also might willingly transfer user data over to US territory. Not a great deal.

  • Rip off!

I signed up and it states I have a14 day free trial. I get charged right after signing up. 1st day of 14. Requested a refund, get turned down. Yeah, what a rip off. Stay away!
  • Database Corruption Happened TWICE

some of (interestingly, not all of) my identities’ usernames and passwords were corrupted. They were suddenly overwritten with “boxSealAnonhmous$” and lost forever.

I have reported this issue twice. No response from the developer. And it keep happening.

Be very cautious with your password pairs.

  • Data Corruption Happened

I really liked this service, the convenience of creating phone numbers and email aliases on the fly is outstanding. However, when I logged in today I found some of my identities’ usernames and passwords are corrupted. They became something all starting with “BoxSealAnonymous” following by long strings of random characters. It looks like they had a database corruption. This is a big red flag to me. I’m able to retrieve my usernames and passwords just because the email alias are still working. But what if the emails and phone numbers are also corrupted? I rely on their system to keep records of my information but it seems that their system is not as reliable as I thought.

  • Peace of mind security

Cloaked provides peace of mind when signing up on websites, webinars and apps where you just aren’t sure how many lists your email or phone numbers will be shared with! It only takes a couple of seconds to generate a new identity that gives me the flexibility of choosing who I want to respond to and knowing I am not added to 40 more mailing and call lists.

The only negative I have encountered so far (hence the four stars) is that email addresses aren’t always accepted by some sites (eg. mgm) … but this may have been fixed recently.

  • Swipe side ways to delete.

Live that it got the swipe delete feature back. I still like the hold to delete for identities. Accidental deletes can happen. Wish you bring hold to delete back

    Developer Response

Thanks for the feedback about wanting the hold to delete option brought back. We understand the desire for an additional safeguard against accidental deletes. Our aim is to provide users flexibility in how they manage their identities. We'll pass your request along to our product team to consider re-adding a hold to delete option in addition to swipe deleting. That way, users like yourself can choose the identity deletion method that works best for them. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on the recent changes. User feedback helps us improve Cloaked, so please keep it coming!
  • Why this didn’t exist before?

The ability to have different phone numbers for different identities online and offline is a great idea. I’m heavily using it.

I don’t use it as a password manager though, since it doesn’t have a strong 2fa method to log into your account, like a Yubikey. Putting all my credentials in a place without such a strong 2fa is a risk I don’t want to take. So for now I’m mostly using it for phone numbers, but still have my password manager.
