Swipe side ways to delete.
Response from developer
Thanks for the feedback about wanting the hold to delete option brought back. We understand the desire for an additional safeguard against accidental deletes. Our aim is to provide users flexibility in how they manage their identities. We'll pass your request along to our product team to consider re-adding a hold to delete option in addition to swipe deleting. That way, users like yourself can choose the identity deletion method that works best for them. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on the recent changes. User feedback helps us improve Cloaked, so please keep it coming!
Why this didn’t exist before?
I don’t use it as a password manager though, since it doesn’t have a strong 2fa method to log into your account, like a Yubikey. Putting all my credentials in a place without such a strong 2fa is a risk I don’t want to take. So for now I’m mostly using it for phone numbers, but still have my password manager.

The premise…For the newbies:
I’m no expert but here’s my take after spending the last month learning about the nightmares of data breaches, data brokers, phishing and hackers, etc. Everyone says you need a password manager so you have unique passwords for every site, so if one is breached then hackers/thieves be able to just input your password into all the other websites you use and gain access. Super advice. And of course you’d need a password manager to handle that organization for you or it’d be impossible to keep track of so many passwords. BUT ALSO … it turns out your email address and phone number are unique identifiers, like your social security number, thus they too should be protected and kept more private. So what if instead of giving out your actual phone number and email address, you had a different phone number and email address for every website. And any time you want you could turn off or delete a number or email in just seconds—without the hassle of having to create a new email account or get a new phone number.
You create an “Identity” as they call it, for each website or contact you can assign a unique email, phone number, password, user ID, etc. Unlimited Identities, unlimited email addresses, unlimited phone numbers…all managed in an interface similar to a password manager + email inbox + VOIP phone.
I first heard about Cloaked on the privacy channel All Things Secured by Josh Summers and the premise of it got me very intrigued.
EMAILS:
I was previously considering Simple Login (now part of Proton) before I heard about Cloaked. Aside from watching a few YouTube reviews on Simple Login and alternatives, I haven’t tried them for myself so I can’t really compare and contrast. But I can say that it seems to work flawlessly and effortlessly within Cloaked so I can’t imagine having any complaints or regrets.
PHONE NUMBERS:
I was previously considering My Sudo before I heard about Cloaked. Josh Summers said in his video that My Sudo had certain limitations that Cloaked overcomes with their solution. You get unlimited numbers with cloaked. Each Identity can have its own number. BUT…this is where I’d say things aren’t quite perfect. Granted this is a new company and they’re still perfecting their solution, know that it’ll work for many use cases but just not for all use cases. You get unlimited VOIP numbers. But some websites won’t accept VOIP if you need 2FA. Most will, but some won’t. So the fallback solution there is Cloaked uses England telephone numbers, and this works for most websites but is troublesome with some. For example I was able to create a Signal account using a number Cloaked generated from England, but Google wouldn’t accept an England number to create a new Gmail account. Thus I say, these Cloaked numbers will work for most of your use cases, and thus greatly enhance your privacy and security; but know that it’s got a few limitations. You can set any of your Identity phone numbers to route directly to your true phone number for calls and texts, and any response texts or calls you make back will not reveal your true number but instead display your Cloaked number that’s unique to that contact. As far as I have searched, no other service offers this. My Sudo lets you buy VOIP numbers in various pricing tiers but you pay something like $1/number each month.
Coming in 2024: virtual credit cards. I’m excited to see what this is about. I haven’t yet gone this far into data security/privacy but was about to consider a highly regarded vendor called Privacy.com for that. I’ll wait to see what Cloaked has to offer first.
They have some independently audited certifications on customer data privacy and security. I don’t recall the name off the top of my head but look at TechCrunch or similar news articles on Cloaked and it’s mentioned.
SUMMARY: to get elsewhere what I want that Cloaked offers in a single integrated service, I’d need to subscribe to Simple Login [Proton Pass], My Sudo, and a password manager. (I actually have a separate password manager that I’ll keep for now.) But My Sudo can’t so what Cloaked does, and it costs more. Then add in Simple Login and now it costs much more per month than Cloaked, and it’s in two different apps that aren’t integrated, so I’d then need a third app to manage passwords and input info from the two other apps. That would be tedious, messy and more expensive.
