  • A bible app that is great

This app is amazing. I wish they offered different versions.
Example like the quest study bible. Something that also allow follow up questions and more thoughts in regards to passages. This is still in the early stages but is amazing
  • Lots of potential for an app that recently launched

Love the concept of this app with being able to hand write and draw and journal as I read the Bible! Great for someone who moves around a lot and isn’t able to carry around too much.

Bugs I found while I used the app were:
    - the “edit bible” option didn’t pop up until I made 2 Bibles
    - the input area to rename the Bible only accepts 1 letter and nothing pops up as I type
    - the “continue reading” button would not work so I couldn’t switch between Bibles

I know it’ll take some time to fine tune everything and get more Bible versions because of copyright, but really looking forward to those updates and eventually using this app more!

  • Finally!

I’ve been saying this for years - we need a Bible app we can write on! Good job.

    3 things I don’t like though…
    1. I am bummed I had to buy the ESV again! It’s free in YouVersion and Logos, why not here.

    2. I’d prefer the pages swipe left to right to change chapters. Its a bit frustrating when you scroll to the bottom and the chapter changes.

    3. The logo looks a bit like a pair of shorts - took me a moment to recognize the pencil in the logo.

I wish every Bible app had this functionality! Excited to start writing all over it.

  • Love the idea!

Seems like it’s still early days for the app, but I love this Bible study experience with my family more than any other app. Highlighting, underlining, circling, and free form note writing is unbeatable for a right-brainer like me.
  • Finally a Bible app for the iPencil!

Still needs some work at adding more options and contents to compete with Bible apps like e-Sword and BLB but it is a great start and I feel like the developers will get it there based on what they have started with. Just hope they will look at the content of these two (e-Sword and BLB) and work off of what they have.

  • A Bible App Like No Other

There are other Bible apps, and there are other journaling apps, but no other app quite strikes the balance that Pencil Bible does.

For its first day, this app is doing pretty well. I have yet to experience any real bugs. The design is clean and minimalist, which I love. Having both a search function and a toolbar to play with is key, and along with these come features like bookmarks, customizable spacing and page layout, and little things like an opacity slider for highlighters.

I have had no issues with bugs so far, but there are a few small UI improvements that would make a big difference.

    1. Make the app usable in landscape mode (this would potentially turn the app into a teaching/presentation app for me and possibly my church).
    2. Give the toolbar a movability function.
    3. Give Bible chapters taller headers/footers.
    4. Make it harder to swipe to the next chapter accidentally, and/or create a “lock/unlock current chapter” function.

These are merely suggestions. This is an excellent app.
