To use this app, I have to start up the tablet IN the sauna and then connect to the app, which defeats the purpose of the app. Any other time it says the sauna is “Offline.” It’s pretty much useless, which is a bummer because it has potential to be awesome.

Sauna often won’t connect to app

I’m not sure why this happens but app and sauna sometimes allow me to start a session and sometimes it tells me I’m not connected.

Remote start feature doesn’t work.

Remote start feature doesn’t work for me, and, if you look at the reviews LOTS of other people. Being in software myself, I know that often customer complaints are due to User Error and/or a problem with the specific device being used by the Customer (eg. The operating system on the device isn’t updated).

But when the number of complaints reaches a certain level, any responsible company must admit that there is a problem with the COMPANY’s software.

Sunlighten has been plagued with poor software design and execution since its inception…ALTHOUGH, to be fair, it has been getting incrementally better over the many years it has been in business. For example the design of its mobile app is actually quite good and appealing.

But the functionality (ie. How does it WORK (or not) vs how it looks) is still frustratingly and embarrassingly bad.

I rarely write reviews, but aim doing so this time because I do enjoy and value my Sunlighten sauna, and continue to want the Company to get better and better so that they are world class. I wrote to them privately before going this route, but, unfortunately, they didn’t even reply to at least acknowledge my frustration.

In short: excellent (A-) sauna engineering and very good (B+) design, but C- for software engineering on Sunlighten’s mobile app.

Cannot connect

Please please do something to address the issue that this app is useless to control or connect to the sauna. The app states the sauna is disconnected when it is not.

Love the sauna … useless app

Literally can’t connect my sauna to this app. Why did you even develop it?

App and sauna don’t stay connected

Theoretically this app could be great. However, it will not work for us about 90% of the time as it tells us our mPulse sauna appears to be offline even though it’s not. One of the reasons we bought our sauna was to be able to heat it up in advance via the app. Pretty much a total fail for us. What’s the point in having a “smart sauna” if it can’t be controlled via the app?

Can’t use unless in sauna

The app doesn’t work unless you are in or right next to the sauna which makes it pointless. See other reviews that say same thing. Unfortunate since one of Mai. Features I was looking forward to preheating when away from home- hence the reason for a mobile app.

App doesn’t connect and 5star reviews are bogus

I have had the Empower sauna for two years. The app looks amazing but DOES NOT WORK. Beware their claims of “in development.” Sauna gets hot and wonderful without the app though (shrug emoji)

Could be great, but it’s not

App time is out of sync with sauna. Any schedules I set up in the app do not translate, ex) 6am start time in the app shows 1pm in the sauna tablet. Also need smoother connectivity. Try again Sunlighten, this feature has been long awaited for a lot of disappointment.

Never connects. Have to physically go down to the sauna then open the app before phone connects to it.
