  • Just, no

The app is going downhill fast. When scrolling thru the latest articles, the list seems to randomly update and add in new articles thrown in the middle and also changes the order of some of them. To make sure I didn’t miss anything, I have to go back to the top and start over. Today the app also starts playing an ad a couple seconds after being opened that can’t be turned off or skipped. Worse, it replays if you try to refresh the list by dragging down at the top of the list. Any links in an article can not be used, they aren’t even highlighted like a link should be. The article on the best ps5 ssd upgrades doesn’t even show their picks at all. Sometimes their new to Netflix and similar articles only have a video with no written list.

  • Annoying auto playing sound!

IGN….if my phone is muted, I don’t want your app auto playing sound from videos. You are literally the only app on my phone that has a difficult time respecting my desires for my phone to be silenced! This latest app refresh has overall been filled with issues and frustrations; like basic things that are inexcusable to miss. But on the positive side, I’m glad you finally fixed the “back” button to work as it always SHOULD have worked on DAY ONE. For those that aren’t aware of these past atrocities, hitting the back button would take you back to the top of the article thread…and you’d lose your spot from scrolling. It took them a few months to fix this issue.

  • New Update...New Problems

Once again a new update rolls around and all of my prior bookmarked content gets deleted...Try to add new bookmarked contact then go back to continue scrolling, but instead you restart back at the very top of content then have to scroll through all over again. They attempted to make this slightly better with a quick save by long pressing outside of the article. This worked initially, but it now hasn’t worked in a few weeks. Haven’t rechecked yet, but initial app update when max scrolling content on any tab would cause the app to crash. I love IGN for what they provide like no place else, and have for as long as I can remember, but this is classic problems with a fresh coat of paint.

Edit: save feature finally working again

  • Features removed/poor performance

Unless a feature is broken and causing harm to the app as a whole, why would you remove it with an update? Yes I mean the search function. Because of that, there’s now this giant collection of game guides which are now inaccessible through the app. Also taken away with the recent UI update is the share button. No more sharing links of articles and whatnot.

Regarding the app’s performance, I realize I’m on an iPhone 8+, but I don’t believe choppy framerates should be as plentiful as they are when all I’m doing is scrolling. These phones can play 3D games and then scrolling through articles is taxing? Hurry up and get this app optimized.

  • Needs some improvement

As much as i love this app a few things that would be greatly appreciated. 1) Allow me to be able to see the articles I have saved without having to sign in into a account 2) since I have a account allow me to get a recovery for forgotten password (yes I have already tired the present one) 3) after reading any article please don’t bring me back to the top of the feed, but leave me exactly where I was at. I know it seems picky but the app is great but these minor set backs will help IGN be one of my main sources for information

  • New App Is Useless

This used to be a useful app to find video game reviews and news until the latest major update. I have used this app for years and this latest update takes away pretty much all of my use cases. It is now no longer possible to filter reviews by type. I am only interested in video game reviews but am now forced to scroll through movies, tv shows, and comic reviews. In addition upon reaching the bottom of a fairly short list the reviews end instead of loading more content. It is also now no longer possible to search for specific games to see a review of an older title. These changes make the app effectively useless and a much worse experience than just using the website.

  • New update has made app nearly useless

I don’t typically write reviews, especially bad ones, but the IGN app has went from great to useless. Previously I used the IGN app almost daily to look up game guides or specific game news (and more), which I always searched for on the app using the “search” feature. The latest update stripped the app down to nothing but a “News” page, a “Video” page, and a “Profile” page (if you create an account).
The news and video pages can only be scrolled through and refined to basic categories like “games” and “TV.” The search feature has been completely removed. Not only is there no way to search for news or information on a specific topic, there’s also no way to search for a specific article I read a few days ago, other than endlessly scrolling.
Articles can still be added to favorites and viewed from the profile page, but I don’t want to favorite every article I read just for the small chance I might want to reference it later - I want to be able to search for it if I need to.
I genuinely hope IGN listens to their users and releases an update soon that brings back the search feature. Search options are such a basic and necessary feature for any news-type app, and IGN’s app is quite a downgrade without it.

  • Long time IGN fan: New redesign is horrible

With the latest redesign this app went from bad (but usable) to literally broken. You can’t view review scores in the app anymore, the card layout often cuts off article summaries so can’t even tell what the article is about, you can’t touch the home button to quick jump to the top of the home page (you actually have to manually scroll all the way), when you read an article and navigate back it takes you back to the top of the home page rather than back to were you were (forcing you to scroll down and where you left off), they even got rid of the highlights page so you can no longer just see what the top news for the day was and have to scroll through every single article...I mean come on guys!

  • From Good to Bad

App used to be good but buggy. Now it looks clean, but is missing tons of features, is buggy, and doesn’t “curate” content. Which is what I want IGN for, to distill the most important news and industry info first. Then allow me to scroll endlessly. Like I’m waiting to hear news about a Switch Pro, but I have to literally scroll through EVERYTHING before I can be sure I didn’t miss it.

Reviews are all cut off part way through the review so you never see scores anymore. You can’t sort reviews by games/movies/etc.

I want the old buggy app back or drastic changes/overhauls to this new UI.

  • Really disappointing

I’ve basically used the IGN app every day for the past 5 - 6 years. There have been some great updates over the years, along with some persistent bugs/glitches that have never been fixed. I think the choice to overhaul the app and introduce a bunch of new bugs and issues, while still not addressing the issues that have been present for years is just so disappointing. On top of that, I had saved countless articles and wiki pages that I go back to all the time. Now I’m forced to create an account with IGN in order to save anything, and I’ve lost access to all my previously saved articles. This update was such a disappointment that I’ve given up on IGN and have now deleted the app.
