  • Never had such bad customer service

The problem first came up when I couldn’t place any outgoing calls from the app. Like many people, I was using this app for business purposes and it was critical for me to be placing calls with my Line2 number instead of my personal number. I tried rebooting the app, uninstalling it and then reinstalling it, turning my phone on/off. Nothing helped.

I called customer support and couldn’t get through to a person. I then created a support ticket and wrote that my issue was urgent (I was missing out on making business calls that day). I also tried engaging with the chat feature on their website, hoping that I could somehow speak to a human to resolve my urgent issue. However, the sales chat person said my only option was to submit a support ticket. Thanks for nothing.

Two whole days go by. I hear from no one. No emails, no calls. No help or resolution.

6 days later (8 days after my initial support request) I finally received an email with instructions to resolve my issue. I honestly don’t even know if those steps worked because by that time I had cancelled my Line2 subscription.

I was reminded to write this review because I received an email from their support team today saying that they were happy to report that “this issue has been resolved.” This email came 2.5 MONTHS later. Wow. Glad I dropped them when I did.

  • Pretty good for small business

It has been reliable and consistent for small business use with occasional phone needs. We get more junk calls than good ones so wish there was a way to filter those out. The voice message to text in an email is our favorite feature. The voice mail in general works well. For some reason, most phone calls are first dropped and then we have to try again. There is a slight delay so we often talk over people. Highest on our wish list would be the ability to create a list of contacts just for line 2. We’d like to at least be able to add a name to a recent phone number. We use Line 2 on our personal phone too which is great for receiving and making calls - keeps them separate from our personal number, but dislike the fact that it wants to access our personal contacts. Overall good value for our needs.

  • Glitchy but great when it works

This app can be really helpful when it works. I often have trouble with phone calls going through when initially dialing out. Calls fail at least a few times a week. People on the other end often mention bad sound quality... crackling sound on voicemails and on phone calls.

Also it tries to connect with my car’s Bluetooth and turns off any radio or other source already being played through the system in operation whenever I get in the car and start going (specifically when I’m not using the phone). It will show on my dashboard of the car that a phone call is connected (to my own cell phone).

Delayed response when hitting buttons in the app/phone to start or end a call. Sometimes I hit the button to end a call and it doesn’t show ended so I hit it again and then next thing you know I am dialing the person back because it hit it twice.

  • Rating depends on how critical it is needed

I’ve used Line2 for over 3 years. Have it on an iPhone 6s the whole time if it makes a difference.
Sometimes the app works well. Sometimes I have not gotten a text for several hours after it was sent. I’ve also had voicemails show up when it didn’t ring. Tech support doesn’t seem to have a good answer. Maybe if it didn’t use WiFi or gave a choice to turn it off.
When making an important call, I’ve chosen to turn off WiFi on the phone and it seems to operate with better call completion and clarity.
All in all, I like the idea. Needs to be more consistent for business as I rely on it too much. I’m looking at other options.
If there’s a free trial, it might be worth trying. Maybe it works better for you.

Generally, it’s a good app. I value the second line on a single phone the most. I have had good to excellent call quality 90% of the time - Virgin Mobile/Sprint in the metro D.C. area. I’m self-employed and have no need for the advanced features that get promoted so much. There are a few downsides that I’ve learned to live with: uploaded contacts don’t allow customization; multiple notifications of confirmation of a choice that need to be clicked before moving on; faxing separate and over priced; and some others that I can’t recall at this time, but if I could find an app that resolves those issues, I would switch. Despite that perspective, I would and do recommend Line2 to others.

  • Been using for more than a year

I’ve using the service for more than a year and I am disappointed. Although the functions are there, the shortcomings are numerous. For example, messaging does not allow videos or .vcards to come through. In addition, the phone service is very spotty, especially when you compare to your normal cellular service, even though it is supposed to be the same thing. The quality just isn’t what it should be. Last, the service will identify that the strength isn’t very good and will ask you if you want to switch signals in the middle of a call and if you elect to do it, it will hang up your call. Bottom line, this just isn’t seamless.

There seem to be new bugs when releases come out. For example, you can no longer telephone numbers into the dialing screen, which is certainly annoying when you don’t want to dial with your main line from an email or other link.

  • It’s okay but needs improvements

I’ve been a Line2 user for over 5 years. In that time it’s worked well but then an update comes through and things change, sometimes things get better, sometimes they get worse. Most updates are for the better but occasionally they mess up something. Currently the latest update has somehow caused me to see calls after I’ve missed them instead of getting them when they come in. Luckily this is a rarely used work line so it’s not a huge imposition. Figure it’ll get fixed at next update.

Need to add ability to share contact info via SMS. Also need to be able to support videos thru MMS.

  • Glitchy

Phone does not always ring. I get an email that alerts me to voicemail, or else I would never know I got a call. Forwarding to this app is unreliable. No feature to change ringtones.

Forgive me if I don’t contact Customer Support, because when I did it the first time because I could not forward my work phone to my Line 2 number, I was told to contact my cell phone provider. You assured me the problem was with them. Then, when that turned out to be untrue, you told me my free trial period was over, when in fact I had been paying for the app for 4 months. What the problem turned out to be was Apple billed me a day late and so you simply stopped serving me. So, I don’t really have a lot of faith in your abilities.

Update: I contacted customer support because I am unable to make calls, the app freezes up, and when a call finally does go through, nobody can hear me. The response was via auto responder to look up the solution myself, which I have already done to no avail.

  • It’s like paying to use Skype 1.0

App used to work ok. Not great, but ok. Then without warning, the app was updated. All messages and call history deleted, all contacts made within the app deleted, and worst of all - nothing worked anymore. Calls drop after 2 seconds, calls won’t go out.. or sometimes it does dial, but then dials the same number twice in a row so doesn’t work. Umpteen text messages never sent/received. Zero support except some b.s. response to say they couldn’t recreate the issue (so I and my clients must be crazy, right?).. then when I literally re-creates the issue, no response even after following up. So much of my reputation lost by using this app. Never again. Stay away if you want a serious business number.

  • Necessary for my business, but not great.

Having two lines in my phone with two different area codes is critical to my business. I travel abroad a lot and having the ability to make WiFi calls is also vital. Unfortunately I wish I had a better option than Line 2, as the call quality is often quite poor and the whole app is quite glitchy. I can use WhatsApp for a perfectly clear call and then use Line 2 immediately after and the call sound is worse and has moments that are distorted and often with an apparent delay. The app freezes a lot with a few weird repeating issues, one of which is that a phone call will often not hang up until the phone is turned off and back on again. Also, I’m not sure why, but I seem to get more spam calls on my Line 2 number than on my primary line. I never read the fine print when I agreed to the terms, but I am assuming that Line 2 is selling their customer numbers. I do need that second number and the ability to make WiFi calls, but I’ll tell you, I use Line 2 as a last resort and as little as possible. It is reliable and good for texts though.
