Fails at the most basic things
When I launched this app for the first time, it asked that I create an account. I went to some trouble to do so. After finishing the process, apparently successfully according to the final screen and the email I received, I found I was not signed in to my new account in the app. Tried to sign in, and it said credentials were not valid.
If you’re going to ask users to do something … why not make sure that it works?

Horrendous experience
I’m sorry but this is typical Italy; looks fancy but completely broken system and horribly unreliable.
I was told that this would be quicker that wiring so sat down to download thinking I’d beat the queue.
After downloading, you have to register - everything is written in English. Except for one thing. Under the country of registration I couldn’t find anything for England, UK, Great Britain…
An italian guy tried to help and even he was confused. It turns out that in the whole list, there is one country not written in English, I wonder why might that be?
Still bitter about the UK exiting the EU? If so it’s really ridiculous. I’ve encountered hostility a few times from Europeans, especially the French, regarding this fact but surely they need to get over it.
Then after finally deciphering the registration process, they send a log in and password which does not work. Wasted nearly 45 mins of the four hours that I had to explore Cinque Terre, very frustrating, but this is the downside of Italy - it’s generally very disorganized. On the upside Cinque Terre is beautiful, people friendly and the food fantastic.

Worthless
If you are from the United States don’t bother downloading. Registration requires selecting your country of origin, but the drop down box doesn’t have USA listed. Hence, you can’t register. An INFO button says you can use their website to register unlisted countries, but that drop down box doesn’t list USA either. I deleted the app.

Everything we needed
I had read about reliability issues with this app but we experienced none of that. I didn’t try to get tickets through the app but it was a superb tool for navigation. Train status and platform numbers are shown and you can monitor your progress and schedule while underway.
Worked well for me on Wi-Fi
I used this app on a recent trip and it worked well for me on Wi-Fi for buying tickets. Then later if I needed to view my ticket it worked fine also. I did not have cellular phone service when I was in Italy. One tip for buying tickets is to pay attention to how many times you need to change trains and if you think you will have enough time for each change.

What a miserable experience
Horrible grim registration process that takes forever and is full of bear traps.
Problem saving ticket in wallet
First have to say that this app is a no brainer an d a must have. Use it a lot and couldn’t imagine not having it. However my last ticket won’t save to wallet for some reason. Hoping support reads this to fix .
X-Go signup not working
The process to apply for the x-go points does not work. The application page asks for a street name, but it is not possible to complete the input.

We use Trenitalia app frequently and it works 100% of the time.
Avoid Trenitalia whenever possible
Zero customer support. They refuse to refund ticket purchases after cancelling their train, leaving me stranded, and out 360€. Basically a scam company with zero respect for their riders. Try Italo or anyone else when possible.
