Glitchy

Seems to take a long time to load and can be quite glitchy. But when it’s working, it’s good.

This latest version is useless

Can’t even login, it gets as far as sending an email for verification, then the app crashes. Ad infinitum.

Tried deleting and reinstalling, nothing’s worked. The pilot app was ironically better, given the online banking functionality is terrible too.

Feels untested and therefore insecure

New app just launched. Once again, no consideration for migration as you have to reconfigure and setup app / security. Pointless wallpaper selection that only shows for half a second, Home Screen double refreshes each time and loading cog often sticks. Statement loads take forever. Several options on the menu send you off to the online version as they clearly couldn’t be bothered putting useful stuff in it like marketing settings. They’d rather add useless features and make it difficult to see whether they’ve changed settings. Feels untested and insecure. Should not be ANY bugs present on the Home Screen, were the testers asleep??? Why put marketing offers above my account info eg try this new account, then have a close button that doesn’t work. Why have the Pay and Transfer items scroll away went you look down your balance then have to go all the way back up to the top where these icons and other junk takes up too much screen real estate. This feels rushed, untested, insecure, inefficient and judging by all the recent feedback, very disliked by lots of customers.

Useless

The new app is useless. I downloaded it to a new iphone. It crashes every time I try to login. So I simply can’t use it.

MAJOR SECURITY ISSUE!!

The new app update has a major security issue! If you only soft close the app (leave it running in the background) when you come to open the app again from quick launch it should require your biometrics/faceID again to gain access, this update does not do this!!! So an in person scammer or an untrustworthy person you know, that knows this and sees you use the app all they have to do is use distraction techniques as an excuse to “borrow” your phone and they will have full access to your account because remember, all those OTP codes they text you, to change anything major on your account are you guessed it texted straight to the phone they are using! Plus they seem to have taken away the ability to question a transaction from the app and report it or inform them that you didn’t receive the goods or services you have been charged for or a way to try and claim it back. Also their live chat/chatbot “Sandi” does not currently work at all! Poor show Santander! I really hope they sort these very important issues soon!
*Update* This just proves my point! Developers have replied with “Thank you for you 5 star review Lesley” I gave 1 star and my names not Lesley!! Utterly useless!!

Thank you for your honest review. The app will present an "are you still there message" after 2 mins of inactivity & will auto log out after 3 mins of inactivity. This is so customers can retrieve any details they need & continue the journey, without needing to log back in. To log out manually, please select 'Menu' on the home screen & follow this option to log out instantly. Customer feedback is very important to us, as we always strive to improve. Whilst some features won’t be live in the app at the start, we're pleased to let you know we'll continue to add more, including the ability to dispute a transaction. Great functionality

Rubbish

Takes ages to load in. If you shut the app only briefly it logs you out and the take forever to load in again. Just rubbish

Legacy banking is getting worse!

Why does it feel like the app and website are trying to fight me every time I log in to make a payment? Santander is acting as a gatekeeper between me and MY money and the security steps feel like an attempt to block ME from my account rather than a safety step to protect me.

Harassing SMS and online Messages

Repeated messages claiming Mail returned which I don’t believe. Then messages telling me restriction to be put on account.I sent proof of residential address three weeks ago. Asked for phone call and told bank can’t phone out. Nonsense. Shocking service.

Credit card failure

Process for getting a credit card is interminable, inefficient and plain does not work. You say ‘go to a branch’ …. Norwich branch does not deal with credit card applications and it’s computer software is faulty so you can’t apply online at the bank.

In addition there is no way to communicate with the bank, make a complaint or do anything to get a credit card.

APPALLING service.
