Simple, intuitive, easier than a call

I love this app. There is no need for me to contact the branch or contact centre as it does around 95% of all my banking transactions online. This has been a game changer for making a busy life a bit easier.

Not so good

The updated version of the app deleted all my payee details!!!

Generally good

I’ve used this app for quite some time now, moreso since my local branch closed. The app has broadly done what you could want, it’s easy to transfer funds to friends and family and to keep an eye on accounts.

One issue I have with it is the “Cheque Deposit” facility - it’s such a hassle, it can’t be too dark but not too light either. Within the margins but not *that* well within, a bit closer - now to the right, no now the left… then when you get a picture of the front which at least has well defined borders, you’ve still to take one of the back - a blank piece of paper. After all that it tells me there’s still a problem and to take it to a branch (again, they closed my local one). It’s not often I have to cash a cheque but it would be better to not offer it as a feature when it’s so temperamental.

Customer Service

We have only been customers with the bank since the end of November this year. I have been unable to use my card online. My husband has no problem!! I have used my card to withdraw cash & contactless. Bearing in mind the time of year & a family to buy for be it food or Xmas presents I am frustrated & annoyed. Have tried contact the bank by phone. Just yesterday I spent 18 minutes waiting on the phone & when I finally got through I was told she couldn’t help me & transferred me to another department which I then spent another ONE HOUR before hanging up!!! All chat on the website was no help either only advising me to call the help line!!!!! VERY DISAPPOINTED customer.

Messy interface

All I want is to be able to come on the app and see plainly my accounts and their balances.

Instead all you log on and see is a messy interface with ads, irrelevant information modules I don’t need or want to see and buttons all over the place. It’s a mess. I just want it to be simple. Log in, see my accounts on the page with no ads or boxes separating them unnecessarily. If you want to give information out them on a separate page cause the extra ad boxes and icons just make your homepage look a confusing mess of an interface. It’s just not needed. Neither are the new “quick buttons” or whatever they are that now show under each account. They just clutter the page and make it look messy. They aren’t needed, these options were easily accessed in the regular way prior.

It’s funny that this is not shown on your App Store screenshots either. THIS is what I want, what you advertise it looking like on the App Store, but that’s not what it looks like in real life, it looks like that with boxes and ads in between all your accounts with no way of turning this off or opting out.

Open banking module seems insecure

Ok, hopefully now I have your attention developers? I added 2 other credit card accounts to this app 3 months ago (so that I can view those balances without moving out of 1 app to open another..a really good idea and USP by the way) all worked well until the 3 month re- authorisation rolled around a few weeks ago. I reauthorised my MBNA credit card account with no problems, ie: click the link in BOS app to open MBNA app to confirm authorisation then get taken back to BOS app... seamless, quick and secure. When I tried the same with my Barclaycard though.... oops! Instead of being redirected back to my BOS app my Halifax banking app gets opened automatically instead (and obviously the request to add Barclaycard to my open banking is never actioned)! I realise this may be a Barclaycard app issue but as the initial request originated from the BOS app then I guess it’s down to you to solve.

Doesn’t recognise valid phone number

Stored phone number for device validation is described as invalid using mobile app but is valid when selected via website. Can’t use app to change address now.
