I've recommended this app to several drummers (I think I have 4 or 5 different ones, but THIS one is the bomb).

It goes way beyond any regular metronome. It reminds me of the ol' drum machines, capable of programming an exact groove, like The Purdie Shuffle, for instance. Dial in the swing amount, learn to play between the cracks-where it feels the best.

Great for practice or gigging; you can set up playlists. Use it for keeping time (Duh), or for inspiration. Don't know why anyone would want more than what's offered here.

It’s not just for music; you can get your proper tempo for a golf swing, either real golf or XBox Golf. Probably work for other sports too. If PolyNome won’t do something, I doubt that you need it to be done.

You get an almost instant answer from tech support from the man himself, Joe Crabtree. PolyNome is built by a drummer FOR drummers.

There’s a place for others to add to the library. You’ll see things like the “Purdue Shuffle, the “Take Five Vamp,” “Come Together,” “Good Times Bad Times” and so on. This is not JUST a metronome, not just a drum machine, it’s a rhythm machine that you can control and it will help you with your music.

Remember this, “You can’t have a good time if you don’t have a good metronome.”

  • This was great until 2.4.6 upgrade

I just upgraded to 2.4.6 and some basic functionality is broke. You can no longer set all tempos for presets in a playlist. I also noticed that playlist loop times are now set to 10-15 seconds. Don’t expect a quick response from support either. Since most of my playlists have multiple presets, this is now pretty much unusable. I will say that it was great for 9 months.

I been using this app for a while now, I can tell you that is the best metronome app that I have found. In addition to the click settings, has a lot more options; you can even create your own score and practice entire songs. If you are learning how to play the drums or if you are an expert, this app is a must have for you.

  • Just Great

This app is just great. I’m fairly new to drumming and being able to program in new rhythms and store them and then add them to playlists makes practicing quick and easy. So many other valuable functions too.
  • Superb.

Get it. You will not be disappointed. I use the PolyNome daily with students & wouldn’t want to be without it.
  • The best metronome app!

This is the best metronome app, I’m not even sure if I can call this a metronome app, this is a highly customisable drum machine/instrument practice app, just make sure you take the time to read the tips on the help section of the app and watch Joe Crabtree’s video tutorials online on how to use the app, as I, myself got confused the first time I use the app, and left a slightly lower review before, but it was my fault for not taking the time to browse the help section and not watching Joe’s video tutorials of the app online, so I stand corrected and changed my review accordingly. Very useful features such as creating your own drum patterns, odd time signatures, polyrhythms and random muting of beats, stop watch and auto logging of your practice time, daily journal and the ablity to generate a report of your practice and playlist on a PDF fomat, the polynome public library where you can download pre-made drum loops and presets and playlists and much, much more, this really is the ultimate practice tool for a musician, this app really encourages me to practice more. I own several metronome apps both paid and free, but nothing comes close, highly recommended, don’t hesitate to buy it. Thanks very much Joe for giving us the ultimate practice tool.

    Developer Response

Thanks for the review. The Tips and Tricks button should take you to polynome.net/follow/ where you can follow Instagram, Facebook or YouTube for regular mini tutorials. I'd recommend tapping the (i) button to the right of the default presets. Each of those has a video explaining the basic features and answering the questions you had. Also, there are videos in the help page that will help. If you have further questions, please email me via the Contact Us link on the About page. I'll get back to you and answer any questions you might have. Thanks, Joe
  • Lots of options and flexibility

Lots of options for weight and count. Good app.
  • PolyNome Rocks!

Hands down the best metronome out there. It has a bit of a learning curve, but once you get the hang, there's almost nothing it can't do. Indespensible for learning difficult patterns.
  • A+

Amazing tools for all drummers !!!!
  • PolyNome is a Masterpiece

Outstanding, highly customizable, dual metronome app that has helped me learn more complex rhythms on the drum kit in less time. PolyNome allows you to run two simultaneous metronomes with different patterns and assigned sounds (clicks/drums/high hat/cymbals/etc). I can program one metronome for my hands and a second one for my feet. This allows me to hear what the music is supposed to sound like and to slow things down to see how each of my limbs is supposed to play it.
