  • Really Motivating

I am 50lbs overweight after having 2 babies in 2 years. I joined DietBet with a bunch of neighbors in the beginning of the year and won! That was motivation to do another one! I won again and now again! I’m down 20lbs in 3 months and it feels great! In order to have slow and steady weight loss I eat less (with the DietBet in mind it def helps), exercise 4 days a week, and make better choices in my diet. The DietBet doesn’t teach you HOW to diet it just makes you more accountable for sticking TO your diet. If you want to eat that extra cookie you have to figure that in a few weeks you may lose your bet so it’s probably best not to! Try it and you’ll see. Even if you do one bet, it’ll be good for you!!! Good luck!!

  • I tell anyone who mentions wanting to lose weight about Dietbet

I think Dietbet is the greatest invention since sliced bread! Actually better than that! After Christmas I had put on a lot of weight. It scared me as I had lost weight before but it took me forever. My girls and I decided to try Dietbet together. We love it. It’s fun, it is legit and we all have been losing weight. Today after 3 months of playing dietbet games, I am way down from where I started and very close to my final goal. The pictures attached to the app say it perfectly...you can be hundreds of lbs overweight and lose it having fun and earning money along the way. Wow. That is a win win for anybody.

  • Totally addicted to DietBet

Joined a game the day after Christmas at the urging of 2 friends. Won. I’ve done/am currently taking part in/have signed up for future games totaling probably 10?!? 3 won and done, winning 2 transformers right now (in rounds 2 rand 3 and have already hit goal weight on both), have 2 active kickstarters and am signed up for kickstarters starting every week thereafter because they didn’t overlap and kept me at the max of 3. I’m not letting up and slacking off. Love the discipline this gives me. The prize money, the early sign up bonuses, the chance to win prizes...?!? It makes trying to lose weight and being accountable FUN!! Love DietBet!

  • The App needs work!

I love dietbet and the community, I’ve been playing for about 9 months and I’ve lost over 80lbs so far, and that’s because of dietbet so for that I would give it a 5 STARS but, the app is quite annoying to me. Here’s a few things I think the app could use:
    1. A way to save future games, sometimes I’ll browse and I want to be able to save the game so that I quickly can get back to it and purchase it instead of having to scroll through the entire feed again
    2. The notification panel is useless, it would be more useful if we could click on the notification and it would take us to our post or comment or reply and make it easier for players to communicate.
    3. When you weigh-in for a game you get asked to put in your weight first and then take the picture but you can’t click on your picture to enlarge it and write down your weight
    4. Prize winner: I won a prize once and I didn’t even knew I had won because I couldn’t see the notification for it. They sent me an email but it came from a different name than dietbet & it was sent to my spam folder lol it was a mess.

I think streamlining the process and the app will take dietbet to the next level & make it more fun for the players. I’d love for it to be even more interactive and to make it easier for players to share and save tips faster, like being able to bookmark a recipe or a certain post someone posted.

Thanks for helping me lose weight, I truly love dietbet for keeping me accountable all this time!!

Congratulations on your weightloss! That is an amazing accomplishment! Thank you for the time you took to write this detailed review. We'll make sure that your suggestions get passed along to the rest of the team.
  • Great for community and accountability!!

I’m finishing up my 2nd DietBet! I’ve really enjoyed the sense of community! We lift each other up on bad days and celebrate together the good days! The weekly weigh-ins keep me accountable and give me something to aim for!

There are a couple of changes that I’d like to see. First, when you’re scrolling through the activity page and you click on someone’s profile. After you look at the profile and click back, it takes you back to the top of the activity page. It should take me back to the post I was on. Secondly, essentially the same thing happens when you click on notifications. When you go back it takes you to the top of the activity page. A little nit picky, but annoying nonetheless.

  • I love this! But what happens when you reach your goals?

I love the idea of this! I’ve lost 13 lbs since starting. I made my first dietbet but not the second and in for the third now. Doing good so far, and getting close to my goal. My only gripe is that there are no maintenance games. That can be as tough as losing the weight and I’d be willing to get a yearlong membership if they had such games, but it looks like you can only create games to lose. I know myself well enough to know that I need incentive and accountability to maintain or Ill just gain it back. Part of dieting is maintaining a healthy diet though! Please fix this!

  • Some suggestions

The idea of judges and monitors for weigh ins is great. However, it appears that they all work traditional schedules. This can be frustrating for someone whose schedule is a little different. I’ve had to resubmit my weigh in a few times but I don’t get any answers for hours. When it comes down to deadlines, I almost missed the final weigh in because the email/ message to re-weigh came in while I was at work and the deadline was about 10 minutes after I got home.
In addition, once the challenge is complete, DietBet tells you how much money you get but doesn’t disclose who the winners are. Win or lose, it’s nice to know who and how many people are splitting the pot. How else do we as consumers know if the money we received is indeed being split correctly?

  • Constructive Feedback

Our group did appreciate the motivation and the idea behind developing this site. A few things you might want to try & update. We all received an email saying that we were to receive an extra $5 to motivate us to join the site. We all accepted and logged into your site but never saw the $5. One of our friends signed up, weighed in but his weight wasn’t accepted so he couldn’t join our contest. Understand but then the site kept his money, and the winners did not receive his portion of the pot. I guess the site just decided to keep his money. Seems very unethical. Also, the site sends email notifications that our weigh-in was received but no notification that it was not accepted. Have to go searching for this message. These notifications need to be consistent. Once again, feels that the administrators of the site are trying to find ways to keep your money.

Thank you for your feedback! Once a player pays into the pot, their money is processed the same way as the other players. We keep a percentage of the pot and then it is split among the winners. This allows us to be impartial to who wins so we can focus on creating the best experience for all players. Please have your friend reach out to support@waybetter.com so we can look into what happened. Thanks!
  • Helpful with weight loss. Messenger/Activity needs work

I was successful in losing weight and reached the monthly goal. Have entered another monthly challenge. Will most likely continue through the year. Good motivation and accountability.
The activity/messenger system needs work. Especially when you want to join a new challenge and see what the organizer/referee has to say about the upcoming challenge and rewards. There’s no way to filter or sort unless you have already joined the challenge. Instead all you see are tons of posts of who joined and what the pot is currently at which you can already see in the challenge description.

  • Great Motivation!

I was skeptical at first, so I bet on a $10 game to try it out. I won and got my money. Okay, cool. Now, I’m a loyal follower. I started playing consistently since October 2018 and have lost 35 lbs in 3 months! It doesn't give you a diet plan or workout to follow. It motivates you by money - basically, you don't want to lose what you paid. And the discussion boards are great! They offer lots of support and advice (from other players). Dietbet provides a platform to communicate with others who are trying to lose weight as well. I am so thankfu for this idea!
