  • Love the game, dislike the app

I feel like there’s so much room for improvement with this app and its interfaces. For example, it’ll notify you when someone interacts with your post or comment, but you are unable to click the notification to jump to your post. When you click it it simply brings to you to the top of the game’s activity page. I hate how it’s hard to jump to any activity I’ve done. I also tried creating my own dietbet game in the app, but it gliched out and wouldn’t let me. This happened several times. All in all, I love the dietbet concept and participating in games, but this app’s interface frustrates me because it’s just not intuitive enough.

  • App Issues

I love this whole app, except that some of the social media/community aspects don’t work right. Clicking on notifications doesn’t bring you to where the comment is that it’s about. Just brings you back to the top of the game you’re playing, so you have to scroll through to find all the comments you made to see if anybody responded to them. Also, if more than to people liked a comment of yours, you can’t click the “7 others” or however many it is, and see who they are. You just click and the page your on kinda looks like it refreshes but nothing happens. I know that these functions should be simple for your devs to fix, diet bet!

  • Great concept~App has a lot of room for growth

This is my first time using DietBet and I just completed my first DietBet. The Wayans have been great the pictures have uploaded fine and you can join up to three games which is great. My main issue is that I feel the app isn’t as good as it has the potential to be. There are possibilities for growth that I know if they achieve, it would be flawless and I’m sure in time they will get there. I also encourage the company to set perhaps some stronger rules for the hosts of the DietBet. Many people in the one I’ve just completed complained that there was not nearly enough host interaction, and I would agree. I think that having a great host ensures great success for this company, which I really hope for! I’m still on board 100% and I’m excited for my next DietBet! Thanks for being a motivation for all of us who are doing our best to make our lives better.

  • Great Diets but need to connect to something other than PayPal.

I’ve done several bets and LOVE it. The support and accountability is great so I’m giving you 5 stars. However, the only way to get my winnings is through PayPal and they are AWFUL!! They have had my money for 4 days now claiming that there is an account issue when I’ve done everything they asked to verify it and it’s still locked. They don’t respond to emails, chats, and there is no number to call. It’s horrible. I don’t think I’m going to do anymore bets until that is resolved. Please use something else...maybe Venmo or just allow us to link our bank accounts like it used to be. Thank you!!

  • It takes some getting used to

I am new to dietbet, so for now I will give It three stars. I don’t see the point of being able to friend someone and no way I can see to contact them. I also wish there was a support function right in the app. I don’t see much use to being a member, other than the fact that you can join more games at once. This must be a way that all the prices are paid for. LOL And I really really don’t understand somebody hosting a game and not interacting at all with the players. That is something that should be vetted in advance One other annoying thing is sticky posts that stay at the top of the feed. I can see that for a day but not continually where you can’t see other people’s posts. Overall though, I like the intended function of dietbet.

  • Great concept, Iffy app

    Update since app response:
I did contact the support contact through the app. It’s been over two weeks and still no response. However, I find that if I double click the home button and swipe clear the open app it works again the next time I use the app, without restarting my phone. So hopefully this trick can help some people with the same issue.

I love the concept of DietBet. I’ve done a few games now and won them all! The app, however, needs work. It freezes nearly every time I use it. I have to restart my phone to get it to work and after a minute or so it freezes again. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to weigh out properly because of this. Luckily, I got it to work for a minute when I did it. Because of the freezing issue, I couldn’t really participate in the social aspect of the app, which would have been nice.

    Developer Response

Thanks for your review, though we are sorry the app wasn't working well for you. If this continues, please email us at support@waybetter.com. Thanks!
  • Don’t bother

If you are an obese individual, don’t bother betting on yourself, especially if you are going to use a traditional balance scale. They expect you to be able to show your weight, word, and the scale balanced, all in one picture, even if your body would block the information. God forbid you take the picture from a side angle to try to fit the information in; they’ll reject it. When you contact support, they’ll tell you your picture is great, but the scale needs to be balanced. No duh, but if you’re large and your body blocks the scale, how is that supposed to work?

Basically, you’re going to lose your money and be fat shamed in the process, even though the whole point is that you’re trying to get healthy. Find a different way to bet on yourself because this isn’t it.

  • Helping Friends by Watching Their Progress??

I am enjoying the app but can’t check my friends progress during the challenge. Only place I have found is if they comment under activity you can click on the name .... if they don’t want to share peoples info within a game I wish it would explain it... it just looks like a missing feature that I naturally keep looking for. Also from my phone I had a hard time figuring out how to upload a profile photo... It is not done under Edit Profile which would be logical it is under account settings. Otherwise the idea is a good one for group weight loss challenges.

  • App improvement ideas

Overall this app is good, but I do think it needs a few improvements. Have the product designers include today’s date next to the word of the day. It wasn’t clear to me when I did my first weigh in if the word was actually for me to use for weigh in validation, or if it was an example word as part of a first timer’s tutorial. I wanted to make sure I did it right because I didn’t want to be disqualified, so I searched the entire app and website for clarification but it still wasn’t clear so I just guessed that was it. I know that’s a very minor thing, but I know app designers want their products to be as user friendly and intuitive as possible, so thought they might want to make that adjustment. Also, it’s weird that you have to go to ‘settings>account settings’ to upload a profile picture. This option should be in ‘profile’. Too many steps for one simple task and hard to find. If I think of anything else, I’ll let you guys know ;-)

  • Works well and works for me!

The app is easy to navigate and is organized well. The concept of DietBet totally works for me! If you are financially motivated this is a great way to loose weight. I overlapped my games to really feel the pressure and it worked. I won all 4 of my games for a profit of $62! That included two $10 early sign up bonuses. I also got my $270 investment back of course. I also really liked the online community in my games. If you care about a chatty group make sure to look at the activity in the game before you sign up. Different games have different tones and different levels of participation. All of mine were with Jenn and Kandice and I liked them as moderators a lot.
