  • Unprofessional

I’m seeing a lot of 1 Star reviews and now I know why. I placed a $168 order last night around 5pm. The app said the order would be at my house between 6-7pm. We waited until 9pm... never got a call nor text from Drizly about the order. I called the store that Drizly was supposedly going to pick the alcohol up from... they tell me my order was placed but they close at 9pm. I go online to try and contact Drizly to ask why they charged my card $168 but never delivered the alcohol nor reach out to me to give the status on my order. I find out the only way to contact them is to leave an email and wait for their response. It’s now the next day and I have yet to get a response from them yet they still have charged my card $168. So unprofessional and so frustrating. Not a good way to handle a business and attract people. I understand delayed delivery times during this pandemic but when a business doesn’t contact you at all to tell you that they’re running late or ask if you would like your order cancelled but still takes your money... that’s robbery!

  • Privacy/Safety Concern

I learned about the app the week before the covid-19 lockdown and wanted to try it out. Limited selection to choose and some of the items are overpriced compared to the actual price at the store. You are notified throughout the entire order process through text and app which I really like.

My experience went south when I learned my order was picked up by a doordash driver (your order is either delivered through doordash or the partner which you don't find out until much later in the process).

A mysterious vehicle with tinted windows pulls up in front of my driveway and takes an odd amount of time to demonstrate that he is the delivery person. During the interaction, I learned that the delivery person, also a stranger, is required to take a photo of your ID with their personal cellular device which to me is unsafe and not practical from a privacy standpoint.

Customer service via actual Drizly employees (customer service, legal) was great but I can not support a company where a stranger, especially from a third-party such as doordash who has experienced a privacy/security breach, is taking a photograph/scanning my ID on their personal device. There are other workarounds to ensure that people of legal age are ordering and using the app.

Update: deleting your account and info is a hassle since a third-party vendor (One-Trust) is managing the data.

  • Potentially good?

Since NYC is on lockdown I figured I’d give it a shot. I found the dollar amount per store to be a bit high, but as we’re probably going to be quarantined until mid to late May I thought it was ok to stock up. I ordered liquor and beer so my order came from two separate drivers and the tip I left was split between them. Delivery was actually pretty quick, roughly an hour. The only thing that needs improvement are the notifications. I placed my order at around 6pm Monday and didn’t get an email confirmation until 2:30 am Tuesday. My items were delivered before the app told me they were on their way and I got repeat notifications that my items were on their way well after they’d already been delivered.

Tl;Dr: convenient alcohol delivery. Dollar amount you must order per store is high when all you want is a six pack or a bottle. Delivery was fast even with a disclaimer that it could be delayed. Notifications need work.

  • Amazing service and great selection!

I have used Drizly since it premiered and have always loved it for days when I have no time to pick up wine on my way home from work. During the recent shelter in place order all of the liquor stores in my neighborhood closed down but some offered delivery. I tried Drizly again for the first time in a year and they were careful (masks, gloves, distancing or leave order on your porch), and had a courtesy message on the front page of the app letting customers know that they are working hard, but expect delays due to increased volume. I didn’t notice that my order was late but got a call from the liquor store updating me on an eta and letting me know that drizly had over 300 orders that day. I said no worries, I understand at a time like this and tipped extra. Highly recommend Drizly.

  • It’s my alcohol and I need it now!

Remember that ad? I do. All those people wondering where their money was. This is like that except with alcohol. I placed an order for delivery on a Friday afternoon around 7, Drizzly says their are lots of orders due to this dang virus that’s messing up the world (crazy times, can’t wait till this is over, hope everyone reading this is safe,) so it might take a little longer than usual. I’m not impatient. As long as I get it that night I’m happy! Planned to make some drinks. Liquor never came. Waited hours and hours, no calls and no emails and no texts. I wake up late next morning to a notification saying my order was delivered. Woke up excited, expected it to either be in my entryway or apartment and it was nowhere to be found. I called the store, the owner remembers seeing my address in the queue but doesn’t remember anyone delivering there. So I asked Drizzly where my stuff was. No answer. For a whole day, no answer. So I tried again the next morning and again no answer. I finally wrote at 5:30 on Sunday about 48 hours after I placed the order and got a very quick reply and found my money was being returned to me. While I thank Drizzly for finally making things right, it took a ridiculously long time and I’m looking elsewhere for liquor delivery. If you choose to use the app, I hope your experience is different.

    Developer Response

Hi, Thanks for reaching out. We are experience extremely high volume tonight and we apologize for not responding sooner. If you are still in need of assistance, please respond directly to this email. Cheers,
  • Not worth the download they are not ready

Was very happy to try since I got home and was very tried . We decided to use theirs service . First ordered a advertised special at 78 % but with min of purchase did not mind . Waited and waited not change call the location was told that they don’t have any order after waiting so long emailed tech support and expressed my issue was told that they where under staffed and they where going to cancel my order. To place another order somewhere else. I went ahead and reordered at a different location more expensive . Waited and wait called location was told same as before from the other location . Spoke with Drizly tech support . I Was told order was cancel and refunded but know I have to wait 5 days for the refund. And I never got my order . Know I am out almost $60 till I get a refund . My question is why advertise if not ready for the clients. Hope they get there stuff together because the idea is great.

  • A Let Down

Please don’t advertise that you can deliver items within an hour if you can’t guarantee it. Downloaded the app and was excited to use it for the first time. I was running late, so decided to give it a try. I placed an order while i started cooking dinner. By the time I was done cooking and ready to eat, I decided to check my order an hour and 10 minutes later. It was still at the store! Couldn’t find a phone number, so i had to write an email.

To their credit, they responded quickly. Amazingly enough, after I wrote the first email, I then received a phone call from a driver apologizing it was going to take longer than advertised (an additional 25 minutes). This is a phone call expected within the initial hour. I then get a reply stating “I'm very sorry there was a delay with your order. We're working hard to bring on additional retailers to cut down on delivery time in the future.” The liquor is less than 10 minutes from my house. They offered to credit my account on their next two replies, but I just wanted to cancel my order because at this point it would be faster for me to go to the store and get it myself. I do want to compliment their customer service. Replies were quicker than expected. I’ll be monitoring my bank account to make sure it’s returned. Tried to use their service because it was convenient at the time.

  • Can’t bring myself to rate it 5 stars

So I’ve used this app once, and it works great. You can find any kind of booze near you, and the delivery folks are great. But there is one problem, and it’s not even with the app. If this was actually Drizly’s fault, I’d probably rate it 1-2 stars. Since it’s not, I won’t penalize Drizly for it except by one star.

All the liquor stores charge a $50 minimum. FIFTY DOLLARS. This is insane. I’m not an alcoholic. Usually when I want to order some alcohol, I want a $8 six pack of beer, a $20 bottle of wine, or a $25 bottle of liquor. But who actually buys $50 or more of booze at once?! If you do that, you’re either an alcoholic or you’re buying some super fancy French champagne.

Like I said, I know this is the fault of the liquor store charging this minimum, not Drizly’s, but it still renders the app impractical.

  • Wow!

Needed some emergency wine and had a sick kid so thought I would give this a shot. I ended up ordering more than I ordinarily would have given the disclosed $5 delivery fee. What was not disclosed was the automatic 10% driver tip, which only showed up after I had placed my order and it was too late to cancel. All told I spent $30 extra to have wine delivered. I am not opposed to tipping, but I wouldn’t have ordered the volume I ordered had I known about the mandatory tip that is based on dollars spent (a $10 tip for one delivery is in my view perfectly fine - a $25 tip for the same delivery is over the top). On top of that, the app is awful. It is painful to navigate, slow, and clumsy. Won’t be ordering from this place again.

  • Super Awesome!

I just used them for the first time. I just moved to the DFW area and do not have a car yet. Got home and to my astonishment, I had no wine!!! The closest store that sells wine is over 3 miles from my apartment. Looked up on-line to see who delivers beer/wine/liquor and a lot say that they do, but beer only. So disappointed! Then I found Drizly!! I figured, what the hay, I’ll give them a try.
So not only did I find the wine I love, which is very hard to find in this area, but I got it delivered within an hour. The delivery driver was very pleasant and courteous. I was afraid he would not be able to find my apartment, because I live in a very large complex. He found me just fine!
I am very pleased with this service, and will be using it again. I have read some of the reviews and you can take them with a grain of salt in a glass of water. In my case, I have no transportation, so I rely on many delivery sites, this one is a keeper!!!
