long time user, back again. LOVING IT!
Oh my goodness! I'm in love. Outline is a great idea! It's like a sketchbook of content creation, it has a lot of quirks that aren't too crazy to deal with, but the idea and implementation is fantastic in my opinion despite the quirkyness of how it works.
I used Outline a loooonnnng time ago. And I do not remember why I removed it from my Mac, perhaps I wasn't using it as much. but I'm back.
Enjoyable to work in! I've been needing / wanting something tidy and comprehensive to create some of my own process and proceedures in and more, but with a more flexible layout more like a sketchpad for content creation.
It has a lot of power with books, sub groups and sections and then pages. If you can get your mind to wrap around the organizational concepts, you're golden! Great job guys! I'm excited to be back using this!Show lessmollybermea

Update: It's a very long time since I last used Outline; since then, my info management has been transferred to other apps. But as I was scanning through various app updates, I was pleased to see that Outline had recently been updated and technically strengthened, so thought I'd take another look. And guess what? The most annoying shortcoming has been resolved! The search function now highlights hit terms in notes automatically! This is very good news.
I have no interest in using Outline as a means of accessing OneNote files, so don't much care about OneNote compatibility. It's beginning to look like its own, very solid alternative, however. I shall continue my reacquaintance with interest!

This is a very elegant app that works remarkably well. It’s a very pleasant alternative to the OneDrive-bound Microsoft app, and despite occasional stutters, behaves well if you give it a bit of breathing room. Personally, I hope very much that Gorillized will continue to develop the app, adding things that Microsoft themselves appear to have forgotten, like folding outlines within pages and suchlike. There’s room for a OneNote competitor, and after the ignominious demise of MobileNoter, Outline has turned into a very good-looking piece of software.Show lessWombloid

This is a good app for notebooks organization for work. The look is great. I enjoy the sections showing on top of each pages. (feature Onenote removed) which hopefully Outline does not remove this feature.
Needs alot of improvement on the OCR for PDF's. PDF's are not clear and cannot copy sections to place into the side notes.
Needs alot of improvement on the link between Safari and Outline to download articles and documents directly to Outline. A few articles download and others do not which can be annoying.
I will continue to use the app a little longer and hopefully there will be an update soon to fix these problems.Show lessnokkopenng

I would have given this 5 star when I started to use it, however it has been been left behind by the likes of Notability if you are wanting to use your apple pencil.
I still feel it has a better lay-out and more book/file like feel than the others, I love this part.
Using the apple pencil on the app is definetly not great.

I have been using this app for over a year now and always have it updated to the latest version. One issue that was never fixed is that of pictures disappearing randomly from some pages within the same notebook. My notebooks are saved in the Outline folder in iCloud and I have no issues with text sync. Pictures, on the other hand, randomly disappear from notebooks after sometime even though the notebook in cloud folder has not changed a bit! You just get a broken link picture instead of the original one!Show lessMr Meaw

This app is awesome in the sense that it can read and edit your onenote notebooks in the .one file extension. This app is well worth the cost and is worth purchasing the app to have something on the mac that will do the same thing the onenote on windows app will do, but for mac users. This is such a good app. Worth every penny and thankfully not subscription based, for a change.

Loved until a couple months ago
I would have given this 5 stars until about mid-January, when the app began duplicating my sections in my notebook, and renaming them with the date and time. I think they were supposed to be syncing, but it just made separate ones. I had to stop using it alltogether because it wasn't just two or three copies of a section (which all held different--some updated--information I had added). Now there are literally dozens of copies of each section, and not worth me using because I don't know which is the most current, because it doesn't keep them in order. I wish I could share a photo. Hello, we apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced. It sounds like the issue you are encountering may be related to the location you have selected for saving your backups. If you are saving backups to a notebook folder, this can result in duplicate sections appearing with the date and time. To resolve this problem, you can go to Outline > Settings > Backup and change the folder where you would like to save your backups. I have been trying to get the iCloud sync working with my iPad and iMac to keep notes on Outline but the sync does not work on BigSur and iPadOS 14 or iOS14 at all. The response from the support was just one liner and I have not herad back from them at all. I think this product is dead and nobody should buy it.Show lessJanusLucky
