Inoperable
The good: it sends notifications every time it goes into a cleaning cycle. It keeps track of the # of cycles. The bad: it appears it can not communicate with the litter box which means not a single button in the app works. Maybe it’s not compatible with iPhones. Tried it with IOS 13.1, 16.4.1, 16.4.1 (a) and there was no change. Their newest Popur version of this app provides no change. I know Popur techs are working on it but I don’t think they should have brought this out unless it worked. All it can do is turn people away.Show lessSoutex
Annoying Notifications
Every time my cats use this, I get a notification about a Cleaning Record, regardless of how many times I clean the box. Not much functionality to this app, but disappointed so far.
Update - I was immediately contacted by Popur after I rated this and was told they would implement the notifications fix. About 6 months later and it still hasn’t been updated. The Cleaning Record notification is not needed and needs to be something that can be turned out. Without that, you basically end up having to shut off all notifications. Just keeps getting worse
I am now running into the device constantly offline issue other reviewers were mentioning. Also the new waste bags we bought from Popur are much thinner and rip very easily, which is just awful. The batch that came with the box were much more durable. Nothing is fixed and the functionality continues to decrease. But my cats still like the box. So. 1 star for the app. It could be upgraded if they acted on customer feedback. But I’m not going to write a detailed review of what I’d like to see again since they haven’t done any of the things requested yet.Show lessChloe B.
Horrible
Where do I begin the app is horrible as is the Popur it just stops working out of nowhere the waste box is cheap and doesn’t open when it should. I keep pressing clean and it just won’t do anything. I’m kind of fed up with this machine altogetherAlacransilla
Non-functional, constantly loses Wi-Fi connection
Title says it all! This app is more down than it is up! I go through all of the trouble of reconnecting the machine, which is no easy fit, because they put the on off button in the wrong place, it should be upfront. That being said, it constantly disconnects from the app, and I have to go through the cycle all over again of adding the machine. Huge waste of time!Show lessWorthless cat box app
There is no way to cancel a cycle which is about to start later
When you manually do something to the litter, the device will immediately prepare to cycle. But if you don’t want it to start or want to cancel, there is no way to interrupt or cancel. Am I asking too much for the most basic feature?Stellasong1202
App needs work
I love our popur litterbox, but the app is essentially useless. The litterbox often disconnects from the app and it takes a few times for it to reconnect. Also the how to videos, product guide and faq come up empty when pressed. The litterbox still works great without app connectivity, but bummer I won’t know cycle #’s and get waste bin notifications until they iron out the kinks.Show lesstessab98

Love it so much
With 4 cats that all want to use the same litter box, keeping it under control was a real hassle. This litter box is such a game changer. With the app, I was able to set the schedule so I didn’t have to worry about notifications when I was asleep & update to wait 20 mins after use before it self clean. All the cats use it regularly now & I don’t have to worry about cleaning the box twice a day.Show lessKmk1981
A decent start but overpromised and currently underdelivers
I think some of the issues mentioned in previous reviews have been fixed. I hesitated to set up the app based on previous reviews but needed to switch to “manual mode” because one of my cats is not very bright and refused to use our old litter robot for BMs because he was afraid of it. To do that I needed to get the app installed. Manual mode worked well- I was able to cycle as needed (eg only when cats out of the room and I closed the door so they couldn’t see it at first until they were reliably using it), and with lots of reassurance and treats both cats are using the Popur very well. I also customized the timer so it waits a long time (30 minutes) after being used and have updated the Popur firmware several times. The box itself is really good- I really am impressed with how well it works and how little it smells as someone that’s had almost 6 years of experience with an automatic litter box. (We have the discontinued “Pro” model).
Room for improvement desperately needed on the app:
1. Customize notifications: I’d prefer to only be notified when the waste bin needs to be emptied, instead of every time it cycles/ “cleaning record”. I love my cats, but I don’t want to be notified every single time they use the cat box.
2. open waste bin function/button (it’s not super messy with my litter, but I’d still rather not pull it open, bleach).
3. There were a lot of promises in the kickstarter of it being able to track pet weight and how much each cat is going in a multi-cat household, which would be super helpful as one of our cats is chronically ill with a GI disorder and it would help us keep him from getting severely ill (increased BM frequency for him is a sign of increasing illnesses). I set up my cats in the app but it doesn’t track this information at all yet.
I would be willing to update my rating once these issues are addressed- the first two are needed ASAP and would earn another star. I’d really want to see the advanced analytics promised in the kickstarter to give this app 5 stars.Show less
