  • Weird?

I like that you have to guide yourself and figure out clues on your own but there were so many and they were so complicated or time consuming or you needed to take a picture in your photo album to refer back to certain times or exact patterns. Interesting enough landscape for exploring. Beyond that, I didn’t enjoy it much. I enjoyed exploring around but actually solving the clues? Too much. Deleted it as soon as I was done exploring all the places and realized how much effort I would need to put into this. Plus bad controls and mediocre graphics on mobile. Weird game.

  • No! Forget it! It ruins a beautiful game.

Their are some games that translate well to mobile. This classic PC game obviously was overhauled for VR. This looks like that version, but it’s absolutely horrible to navigate. I can’t try the older version as don’t intend to pay £7! Should be financed by adverts. Don’t bother downloading this.
  • Great Recreation of the Original for Mobile Devices

Really enjoying this version, well executed. Top marks folks!
  • So nostalgic!

I was obsessed with this game series as a kid and I’m so glad I can experience it again!

I don’t know what people are talking about with the controls being difficult, it’s just like any other joystick game. It’s not like you can fall off a cliff or something, the roads automatically correct your path. People are so dramatic.

Waiting with fingers crossed they develop Riven as well, I’ll pay any amount of money, I’m begging 😭💕🙏🏼

  • brings back memories

edit: i'm not usually a two handed iphone gamer and i don't play many console games so it took me some time to get adjusted to maneuvering but now that i've been playing a while i think the joystick is actually pretty great and i was too harsh on it. i don't like the finger version of navigating, it feels way harder to control and if there's a way to move left and right i couldn't work it out. the joystick + turning sensitivity all the way down has made it way more manageable. i had some issues with crashing at the start but it seems to have settled down. the auto save is a great help if you leave apps and come back because it often has quit out on me.

  • Unusable contriols

I have tried both options for controls and neither one is usable.
  • Awkward movement

I was excited to try Myst on a pad. It seemed to me it was a game that would translate really well to touch controls.

But this version only has FPS free movement. Which is particularly awkward with touch controls. There is no node-by-node / screen-by-screen option as the original and realMyst versions. I was hoping “legacy controls” meant this, but it does not.

Seems like a really odd feature to miss out. Adding a node-by-node option would make playing on pad so much easier.

  • Poor game

    I found the game depressing!
  • This is not the Myst you are looking for.

Myst Mobile may have refreshed visuals compared to the other versions on the App Store, but it does not have the dynamic weather environments or the bonus age at the end.

If you want the extra content, buy realMyst.

I do not understand why Cyan is charging so much for the full game of this version.

  • Fun nostalgia

    I enjoyed the game.
I didn’t struggle with the navigation.
I didn’t realize I could up the display graphics until after i finished. oops. Wish i would’ve done that on my play through.

I remember the original. It’s weird to play the game now on mobile, it’s so smooth and flowy in the unreal engine. But then the puzzles and things are still the same. Maybe it’s time to give Myst ages some inhabitants to talk to and then have a bit more story, maybe some new puzzles. A new area of Channelwood. A place to go by ship in Stoneship. Something really cool to do in lava tubes on Selenitic. Rebuilt from the ground up, maybe they could’ve gone a bit off book. I guess that would be a remix and not a rebuilt. Oh well. Still fun to go through again.

To the last point. I guess I also thought the inapp purchase was to unlock ages besides those in the original game. realMyst had Rime. But I guess it just unlocked the 4 ages from the game. Oh. I didn’t miss anything then. Did the things. ✅
