Mixed bag vs. Business Checking app

Amex is retiring the Business Checking app, which I used on a daily basis. Migrating to Blueprint has pros and cons:

Pros:

- the mobile check deposit is more stable and reliable

- EFTs are just as easy to initiate

Cons:

- the app is slower overall and at times acts more like a browser with loading bar etc.

- transactions do not display a From Account like the Business Checking app, which makes it much more difficult to post to accounting software from a phone

- strangely, the cash flow tracking feature seems to ignore EFT transactions, focusing only on checks deposited and written

I feel that the Blueprint app still needs to be streamlined and matured in order to be as useful as the Business Checking app.

Watered down

The app is so watered down when it comes to managing a business checking. For example, I wrote a check and it was cashed. Not only does it not show a check image, it doesn’t even show the check number! I also received an ACH - doesn’t show details of who sent it in the transaction history (which I’m used to from the original Amex business checking app) - it doesn’t even show who sent it after tapping on the transaction! How does any small business use this app? Glad I’m just running payroll to myself. Sheesh.

Recent Developments

My initial review earlier this year addressed the absence of Touch ID making it a bit difficult to use. Also, Mobile Deposits too long to clear, although it was stated that it could take 7-10 business days.

As of, roughly a month ago, (and switching over to the Blueprint version) Touch ID is enabled and checks clear within 2-3 days. Thank you.

Good but not Great

First off, I love Kabbage Checking. My only nitpick is that the transfer time to and from a funding source takes way too long. The app is mostly great, simple, straightforward and easy to navigate. Several times I’ve had to delete and re-install the app because I get a “could not lg in at this time, please try again later.” This is a big drag. I never have to do this with any of my other finance apps and it definitely diminishes the user experience. Fix this and it will be pretty nearly perfect.

As of 4/28 this app is ridiculously buggy. Not able to deposit checks because it’s not possible to enter the deposit amount. Tried deleting and re-installing app several times.

This app does not work

Every time I log in on the app on my iPhone, it just hangs and doesn’t do anything. I’ve tried so many times to use the app to check my balance or just do the most basic function like logging in but I can’t even access my account once it logs in. It just shows the blue horizontal line going sideways and lags and does absolutely nothing. What is the point of having an app if you can’t even access it? The only way to access the account is a good old desktop/laptop which defeats the purpose of even having this app. Please fix the bugs!

Extremely Annoyed

Every since the Amex and Kabbage integration began, things have been awful with the Kabbage app and now Blueprint. At times the app would be down and unable to log in or incorrect data showing OR I kept getting a loop to use my Amex User ID and Password when trying to sign on for some unexplained reason. One immediate valued feature to bring back is the Face ID! I am tired of having to authenticate via text or email EVERY SINGLE TIME I go to log in. I don’t understand why it’s so complex to merge the two business profiles together.

Better but not yet perfect

Still has some flaws:

- Lack of Face ID/Touch ID support means you have to type in your password every single time
- Web-based business checking page. Why have an app when it sends you to a site? Makes no sense, the old business checking app at least was iOS native.
- Annoying notifications that can’t go away

Log In Too Difficult

They recently changed to American Express and have canceled the touch ID making a little bit frustrating to login.

Honest thoughts ..

Love their customer service on the phone 10/10. My only true issue is the APP! Terrrrrible..
you never know if you’ll be able to log in successfully .. and it always seems to be a fail when you need it the most. You’ll have to log in on a browser . Please fix this Kabbage!

Often stops working and I have to delete and reinstall

This has happened at least 5 times. I don’t know why. It stops accepting the password and an error box comes up. My iOS is updated.
I also wish there could be a memo for deposits and you could then tell what your deposit was from when reviewing transactions/statements.

Alternatives to Amex Business Blueprint™
