  • Works OK, but kills battery

I have two monitors and this works pretty well. Occasionally it freezes or needs to be force closed. My main issue is that it doesn’t seem to properly put itself into the background. If I use the app and activate listen mode, the app appears to drain battery even if I turn off listening. In the past 24 hours it’s been running in the background for 21 hours, using 25% of my battery usage, even though I haven’t had audio on in the background at all. It’s nice to be able to have the audio in the background but there’s no real reason to have so much background activity. My only guess is that it continues to listen to continues to run to provide notifications about temperature or air quality — but in my opinion that should be handled by the monitors in the cloud with push notifications.

  • App works, but it needs to finally be updated

We’ve been using our iBaby camera for about 2 and a half years now. It works. That’s about it. There are definitely some glitches, but it has kept working.

That said, the biggest issues are in its cheap design. After over 3 years, this app only supports the basics. It hasn’t been updated and is being outpaced by other devices and respective apps. I would recommend people look beyond iBaby for a monitor. They clearly are not interested in keeping up.

So what needs to be done? First, the app only supports running in portrait mode. You can tilt, and the video switches, but the app itself is still in portrait mode. This isn’t as much an issue on the iPhone as it is the iPad. The iPad is mainly used in Landscape mode and you can’t use other apps with it. It does NOT support split screen, PIP video (when minimized) and other features of the iPad. Coming from an iOS developer, these are easy to implement. It just appears that the company has no interest in customer retention or growth.

Again, I recommend looking at other baby monitors that have adapted. It is unfortunate, as the device seems like it is very good. I have noticed other issues, but to me the user interface is the show stopper.

  • Rubbish

There has to be some app support for lower versions of iOS. This product serves as a security for parents and if it only works on late versions of iOS then it is useless.
  • Drains battery

Although its a good app when it works, we now have three devices which get drained even when you’re not using the app. Whatever this app now does in the background it certainly uses up a lot of battery life. I charged my ipad to 100% one morning and it drained throughout the day where it would normally last a week. Please fix this asap, the only solution is to kill the app when you’re not using it.. also it would be nice to state what was fixed in your release notes

  • Sorely disappointed

The iBaby M7 had such amazing reviews. We have had it for a year and I honestly believe that the professional reviews we went by were for a completely different product. The short list of complaints:

    * the only device on our mesh wifi network that has constant connectivity issues. We have 5 other full HD cameras; all of them work fine.

    * the iPhone app is the worst battery hog ever. Even with the screen turned off, only using the app for audio monitoring - I have never seen any app drain a fully charged phone so quickly.

    * the mini usb power connector is not aligned properly. One cannot simply has connect the power cord. It must be inserted at a very awkward angle or the plug just does not go in.

    * the environmental monitors are not accurate. Especially the thermal metrics which I checked against other controls. I’m not sure about humidity or c02 but I suspect that they may be inaccurate too.

    * today was the last straw. The M7 suddenly won’t play any music or sound effects. Resetting the app on two different iPhones, nor a full hardware reset did any good. In fact, now we are without any baby monitor because the factory reset seems to have hosed the device. Despite following all instructions and trying at least 10 times, the setup hangs between steps 1&2.

I have never posted a review but I am so aggravated with this over priced garbage that I felt the need to warn others.

  • Drains the phone battery

The app was working really well in 2018 and early 2019, except occasionally crashing. Then the app started crashing everyday. Since October 2019, it has been awful.. Completely drains the phone battery so that a new phone is down to 20% at the end of the day when it isn't being used much. I confirmed this after I ended up with 75% battery when I deleted the app. I have no idea what it runs in the background but even when the app is shut down, it's constantly running - Check battery usage and you'll know. My own fix for this is to delete the app everyday when I don't use it and download when I need it. Absolutely ridiculous.

  • Severe Security Vulnerability in iBaby Monitors!

There is a severe security vulnerability with these cameras that can lead to remote access to your video and online photo storage. iBaby has been aware of this issue since May 28th, 2019, and has made no effort to fix this security flaw.

Avoid using this product if you value your personal privacy.

More information about this issue can be found on Bitdefender, or by searching for recent news articles for the M6S.

  • Terrible reliability

The app crashes daily. The sound alerts only work sometimes and often have to be turned off and then on to work again — but more times than not, they still don’t work. The whole point of a baby monitor is to monitor the baby on the go. It’s impossible with this app. We have to leave our bedroom doors open to hear when the baby cries overnight because the app will not inform us. I have an iPhone and the sound alerts don’t work. My husband has a Samsung and the app crashes nonstop.

Highly disappointed with how unreliable this is for two new parents trying to monitor their baby.

I do NOT recommend purchasing this camera to monitor your child — it’s that unreliable.

  • Better in theory than practice

This app offers many great capabilities: remote controlled video monitoring, tons of music options, voice communication, and recording.

However, when it comes to using these functions, the results are less than satisfactory. The app is buggy and slow with frequent crashes and few updates pushed from developers. The music is not organized in any discernible fashion and there is no search function. These are relatively minor issues, but they certainly make the app harder to use and could be easily remedied.

Overall, a nice first try but the lack of follow on improvements tells me iBaby is satisfied with an average at best result.

  • Good but could be better

The app keeps freezing the image, just has a black screen and sometimes won’t even open. I will have to turn my phone off and then on again to get it to work again as there is no refresh button. We moved our modem upstairs thinking it would help the problem but no it just kept dropping off. The speaker also stopped working so we couldn’t play white noise or talk to our son to sooth him when he woke up. When it is working it is great but it drops off a lot and can be very frustrating especially when your an over tired Mum.
