I find the app good and pretty easy to use. There are times when the watch won't sync properly so I just turn off Bluetooth, go into airplane mode and switch everything back on again and repair the watch which fixes the problem. Only issues I have is you can't sync while charging and sometimes my watch wigs out and stops counting waves, so I restart my session. It would be nice if you could "merge" 2 sessions into 1 once you are on the app in that situation but overall I think it's pretty good. It would also be good if you could select each wave and see how long they were, I've found sometimes coming into shore is counted as a full wave so it'd be nice to know what length the others were especially when your mates claim its not a real stat ! Rip curl gps is the best
Got this watch for Christmas.. love it ..keeps me in tune with the tides an surf plus it tracks every wave I ride . Plus links up with Surfline for moresurfcity surfer
One trick pony
This was bought the gps 2 watch as a Xmas present and it is fantastic as an easy to use surfers watch, but the app really limits the functionality to only that. Making it an expensive single purpose gadget.
As per previous reviews, the app could be expanded with sort functions e.g locations, top speed, longest waves etc. Plus separate surfs from running, swimming etc.
If the watch could be used with other apps (e.g. strava) then it may also appeal to a wider audience.

App does not update winds throughout the day
Winds change throughout the day but watch still reads what was first updated in the morning only.sfttfdrt
Not worth the money
You would think that buying a watch for $400 you would be buying a quality product, however, this is not the case here. I like the watch and the idea behind the technology but it is not worth the money. The app continually crashes and can’t upload my surf rendering that main feature of the watch useless. The app has been abandoned. No pros seem to use the watch much. It would be great for these issues to be fixed and features added such as tracking runs and bike rides. Very disappointed. Terrible
Just bought the watch and was hoping to keep track of all my surf and other activities. I guess the watch tracks ok 🤷🏽♂️ but the app and or watch is crap. Data doesn’t sync correctly. It only worked well for about 3 days. After that app crashed, data wouldn’t download and icon kept spinning. Had to resync and re-pair watch to phone several times. Even had to delete and reload app 3 X already! Ripcurl says they have a cloud server but not all data came back. Went for a surf this evening and data download icon is still spinning ..🙄
Do yourself a favor and buy an Apple Watch and use a different app.
If anyone actually responds to this rating fro Ripcurl and fixes the problems I’ll update.
Gonna see if I can return the watch.
