Good Idea terrible execution
You don’t get unlimited highlights. You get unlimited amount of pages you can highlight but not number of highlights per page. This is intentionally deceiving. It’s be great if I had premium but if they were upfront about maybe it’d be different. So I know you probably don’t care (and I never write reviews) but you lost my business. I’ll come back if I can actually get free highlights
EDIT: I’m super impressed that they read my comment and updated their basic plan so you get Unlimited highlights even in the free version. Very nice, I will recommend this to my friends. Thank you for listening!Show lessElicard98

•Nowhere does it say how to use it!
•iOS does not offer it as a share option when browsing the web… Why not?!
• TagTopics are sadly lacking… No serious researcher would use your tags and there’s nowhere to add new ones in basic.
•All I want is a basic highlighter with a couple of color options that shows up whenever I select text on the web… This was sadly lacking. It will be deleted. As a publicist, blogger, and one with many followers on social media you completely missed the boat along with an opportunity. I’ve spent 30 minutes going through the entire features of the app and still don’t know how to use it or activate it when I’m browsing. Hard not to think of this as a scam.
Honestly, I used this service once and it was just ok. It wasn’t reliable enough for me to use on a regular basis. I meant to try and use it more often but my mind was someplace else. It was a terrible year for all of us. Up until then the service was adequate. Since it needed to be more reliable it only deserves 3.5 stars from me. However, my efforts to try and cancel my subscription have been completely ignored. There is no way to cancel the subscription on line. A subscription that I honestly do not remember opting into to renew. I received an email a few weeks ago warning me that my subscription was about to automatically renew. I had to cancel to avoid charges. The emails sent me to their website and gives you instructions to go to this link then click on this then that and when you get there there’s text that in order to cancel subscription you must submit the cancellation by email. I did. However, my credit card was still charged. I emailed them again asking about the charge and I once again expressed my desire to cancel and demanded a full refund. My email was ignored. On Friday, I opened a ticket using their customer service client online. It is now Monday and I have not heard one peep from them. Not one email, text, or smokes signals. Nothing. It is extremely difficult to not view their lack of response or acknowledgement as nothing but fraud. They leave me no choice but to dispute the charges with my credit card company.Show lessUssHuntly

I’ve never tried this before but I’m honestly confused... in one ad it said it’s for highlighting notes online, and in another, it says it’s supposed to help you look in Google articles and see if it has what you searched for in it. What??? 😂FatUnicorn3

the subscription is too much, like comparatively double that of any remotely similar apps when this theory could be realistically implemented in any free notetaking app such as noto, craft, or notion etc.Zildoger12321
Be warned
This service might work great in a Chrome browser on the desktop, but the iOS app is broken and the developer shows no interest in fixing it.
The highlighting part in the app works fine - but there’s no way, at least on iOS, of exporting your notes/highlights from the app. The export functionality is advertised, some might say it’s a somewhat key feature, and indeed there is a button to export your highlights, but this just generates the title of your note and none of the highlights. It's broken and un-useable.
I reported this bug months ago but have not even had an acknowledgment.
Avoid.
Note: the developer’s comment below suggests that I may not, in fact, have emailed them. But I emailed them on 24 August, 20 September, 27 September and 19 November. How many emails do you want ? Can you update on any fix to a key advertised feature that doesn’t work? All I get instead is emails from them asking me to subscribe (sadly, I’ve already subscribed!) at a reduced rate that is about to expire (but which never does).Show lessbenjy_london

1) Latest update six months ago said they update every week.
2) For three months my subscription has been dispute after I was charged without a notice or reminder and given no invoice.
3) My suggested feedback for features (that rivals have added) have been repeatedly ignored.

Really simple and intuitive highlighting, and integration with Chrome worked smoothly.
BUT after I had highlighted a few lines, it demanded that I upgrade to Pro. The app flashes to the upgrade screen every time I press “highlight” now. Couldn’t even make it through my first document.
Nowhere can I find where it says that basic highlighting is a “Pro” feature - not sure what the app is even useful for otherwise. This is a classic bait and switch. Also...$14/month??? Shame.Show lessdpow_

You can add up to 7 highlights and 3 comments PER document. So even with Basic accounts, you can highlight multiple documents, though there is a limit on the number of highlights/comments you can add. Also, you can upgrade to Premium at a much cheaper price if you get a yearly plan, so please check it out. (https://getliner.com/upgrade/)What happened
This used to be really good and amazing, definitely worth of five stars. but the newest version is forced to upgrade it, forced to purchase the upgrade.

Dear catlover1071, we had released the Premium features for free for a short period of time, to celebrate the launch of our browser application with the LINER features built-in to it (Ocean browser). However, as the period is over, you need to upgrade to Premium to use the Premium features like unlimited highlights and comments.
