  • No updates in the last five months!?!

What happened to you folks? Everything alright?

I have been using Liner for so many years now that I have lost count of the duration. It's a quintessential app on my phones and tablets. And all of the browsers across my PCs and Macs.

It’s been a while since I have migrated to iOS 14 (been using it since the arrival of developer betas), and the Liner app has been a bit unstable on the new version of iOS.

I have been a premium subscriber of your service ever since you launched it.

So, when can we expect a new release that would squash all of these bugs?

  • This is the first 1 star I give to any App in my life

The idea of this app is great. That’s why I made a decision to pay for it. However, after a few weeks I realized it’s very buggy to the point that I decided not to use it as it had a reverse effect in my productivity. That, by itself is understandable as they are new and are working on it. However, what made me really annoyed was that when I asked the developer to refund me on a prorated basis, they didn’t. They said it’s written in their policy that they won’t. I told them that I respect their policy, however, I’m not requesting the refund due to mere change in mind, but due to the fact that the app is not performing as promised and hence not fulfilling its main purpose. Their response was the same! I would highly advise against paying for this app. However, it’s a good to use it as a free version.

  • New Restrictions to Basic Version

I have had the basic version for some time now. I rated it three stars due to equal my love/hate of the app. For function, it’s great - based on that alone I’d give it 4 stars. There are enough little things that would keep me from rating a full five stars, but nothing major. I used to use it quite a bit and was fine with the color limitations of the basic version, etc. I don’t utilize it enough to justify the subscription. However, recently - the last several months perhaps? - I’ve been limited to 7 highlights per article/doc. This is a deal breaker. I don’t use it enough to buy a subscription, not even at a fraction of what it costs. But b/c the app itself is not terrible, and the creators obviously have an vested interest making money in order to keep the app current and adding improvements, so I can’t pan the whole app just for that. For the purposes of a bare bones basic plan, I wish you’d raise the cap for highlights. I’m not a prolific highlighter, but I usually use it for length articles in order to pare it down to the bare minimum. I hit the limit every time now. I’ll keep checking in for awhile to see if they change the cap, otherwise I’ll look for another solution.

  • Works great!

Love it! Finally upgraded to full version. Only issue, when highlights are exported Evernote the date says Dec 31, 1969. Before upgrading the correct date always showed on the exported highlights.

Also, is there any way of modifying how highlighted note titles are created? It always states how many highlights then states the name of the article. I really don’t care how many highlights I made for every single article.

Hi, Thanks for reaching out. I've checked the issue and found that you have two different accounts signed up for LINER under your same email address. The first one is signed up with your email/password(which is a basic account) and the other one is signed up with your Google credential(which is a Premium account). So please double-check that you sign in with a proper account.
  • Disappointing...

Wanted to take the month by month subscription... approved and saw toi late it changed for one year 200$ amount... false pub... asked if I could have the 68% they offered me before that stupid changes without advertising... nope they said they can’t do nothing so had to pay 200$... seems like that compagny is happy that they got me and they don’t give a ... about my satisfaction ... very very disappointed ... it’s the first time ever I am by the way ... if I could put a zero u would have done it... really not honest ...

  • Great, just needs better support from Apple

Update: the ads for premium get annoying, and the subscription costs are insane. I’m a casual user, I’m not using this for work, and I’m just not going to pay $10 or more a month forever for this. Give me a one time payment and I might consider it.

Fulfilled my need to highlight web pages and store snapshots of them for research, writing, sharing etc.

It seems that Apple doesn’t provide the right API for them to be able to capture a highlight from a selection in Safari, it would be nice if Apple would add that feature for them.

As is you just captor’s the whole page and the app makes it easy to add the highlight right after that.

  • Lots of potential

Liner is exactly the type of thing I'm looking for. An easy way to save the things I read into a seamless format. The idea is great, but the app could use some tightening.

For one, sharing to Liner out of other apps straight up doesn't work for me. Not sure why that is but that seems like an essential feature. I get the impression that Liner doesn't play super well with other apps?

Second, Pocket integration is another great idea but could be better with organization. Would like to see some basic Pocket organization or filtering features within Liner app.

Finally, the highlighting within the app itself could just be snappier. Right now feels laggy and clunky.

Lots of potential here with the app but as of right now it doesn't work super great. I really hope it improves as I love the concept.

  • Added Feature (Merge Highlights)

Great app for my personal uses so far. However, I’d like the ability to combine separate highlights into a folder into one. Many articles have points of interest but it’d be convient to separate those points from the filler.
  • Reeks of unprofessional product management

I really like the concept behind this app but the execution is less than ideal. This review is concerned mainly with the iPad version of the app. Issues that I’ve found: Highlights from one article get carried over to other articles in your folder completely randomly. I had to manually delete each of the highlights to keep the organization clean. This would happen with every article in the folder.
Then there’s the premium subscription! I paid almost 50$ for it and it’s only for a year! Considering how buggy and incomplete the app is, that’s too much money. But that’s not all! I never received an invoice or subscription confirmation email or anything remotely similar. This is when I realized there is seriously something amiss with this app. Now I regret having paid that money. Very unprofessional!

  • It was great at first

At first I found this app really useful. But just now after using it for a week or two, it suddenly popped up a notice that I reached my limit and “Basic users are limited to 7 highlights per page”. This was never the case before (and I was not on some kind of free trial of premium or something, either). I guess this is a new restriction they just put on basic users, to try to get you to upgrade to premium. Unfortunately the app is completely useless if we’re limited to 7 highlights per page. So don’t even download it unless you want to buy the premium version. I don’t. The free version is useless to me, 7 highlights is nothing. Now I’ll just delete the app from my phone and delete its extension from Chrome.
